SS/INV ... where art thou?

I recently decided i waned to deck out my SS/INV Brute ... but wait there's more! ...

Realising ever more I prefer melee based characters and after seeing SS/ farmers left right and centre and INV/ tanks , well surviving :P i looked into my toon list and what did i see? My only Brute at lvl 50 , a long since forgotten SS/INV !

Along side a build * to follow i would like to ask a few questions;

-Why so few SS/INV brute related questions? i can fin but a handful going back up to 30 pages ((also to this date i honestly dont believe i have ever seen a SS/INV Brute Union btw*-

-Rage?! Yahy or nahy, with Brutes fury bar, Foot stomp to fill, Invincibility for +tohit and a kismet in CJ ... yahy or nahy?-

-Are my dreams of a Brute being a monster unrealistic? AV soloing? Last man standing? out surviving 'squisher' tanks ?-

I enjoy playing my SS/Inv Brute, and I was in the same situation as you when I was looking around for some build ideas etc... not many threads on them.

Anyway, I'm a fan of Rage, and the crash isn't so bad with Physical Perfection and Superior Conditioning (as you have in your build).

Hey thanks for the response i was starting to fear the worst for SS/INV :S i mean is there a reason there (appears) to be so few around?

As for your build, i really like that you got dull pain perma and without sacrificing the S/L one in range cap. For me your E/N is a little low ... Have you thought about swapping out assault in your build for Manoeuvres? Its a little end heavy but with 2-3 slots it can give you another 3-4% defence across the board *including our nemesis Psy!*

Im fairly committed to Cardiac atm , im on tier 2 and am *todays* WTF/SF away from tier 3 .... Knowing how Redonkulously end heavy SS/INV is i thought it the safe bet + the extra res at tier 4 will shoot my s/l res to about 75% ...

I have noticed that with 3 performance shifters +chance for end ((20% of each one firing and giving back 10% end)) thats 60% every 10secs of recovering 10% end! very nice to cope with all the rage crashes ....

I think Cardiac is the Alpha for me , i just wish i could see a way to get Dull pain perma ... or at least something like 10 secs downtime , without nerfing my build *and tbh i cant commit enough time/patience to get purple sets*

just out of curiosity how would you rate your fully slotted toon for survivability? My only other 'hardy' toon is a Ma/Sr scrapper ... who *bar incarnate content :S* is very durable ... can i expect more once im fully slotted? Im thinking ? Solo ITF standards ((not the AVs ofc i doubt SS/INV has the dps without temps ))

Just my 2 cents; not really experienced with this build. After looking at Scene_EU's build I question the placement of the BU proc. Why would you use it in a click power vs a toggle. Why not place it in Invincibility.

BU proc will not work in a toggle. Only in a click power. You used to be able to do that, but they changed it a long time ago.

BU procs check (it has %5 chance) in every 10s (so statistically it fires up at least once in every 200s) in a toogle power so if you can use your click power more than in 10s (most follow up powers) than its more reasonable to put it in click power. But build up power itself and rage are not good places to put it since they have longer recharge time than 10s.

Still if you don't want to get a toggle acc power or don't have place for it putting BU procs in a rage or build up is better than nothing if only you have a slot to spare. And some people prefer it only fire whn fighting in a toogle it does not gurantee it will fire in combat and not out of combat.

There is a .95 probability that the proc does not occur. 20 checks on the proc (as you proposed) yields a 35.85% chance it does not proc any of those times.

Unless I have forgotten everything I know about stats, which is possible. I didn't like it much.

Looks right to me, but if it isn't, the fact is that the BU proc is garbage, whether on Rage or a Toggle, I only have it in toons I need the 6 Gaussians for the defense bonus. If it were 10% it would already be bad, the FF +Rech proc is 10% but it's good because you can put it in say, Footstomp when it can make up to 10 checks at once. People (at least most) don't use the FF +rech proc in ST attacks, which usually recharge in less than 10 seconds, because of the low 10% chance already, so... yeah a 5% chance for BU with 1 check every 10 seconds (toggle) or more (Rage, etc) is real bad.

After reading yours guys thoughts about BU in toggle i did some thread hunting and found out that yeah ... dont do it is the general consensus anyway

Does anyone see any improvements that can be made in my build? I would really appreciate any feedback and input you guys can give,

I really , really like Scene_EU build with perma Dull pain but for me it was just a little to much defensive sacrifice to swallow ya know?
