Rikti Mothership Raid

Yes. But the bubbler I regularly bring to ship raids is actually THE first lowbie I ever snuck into the RWZ with the Mission TP bug. You could kinda say she's never left (she HAS, but her primary play times are during Protector's RTR events).

2. You have to be level 35+ to obtain Vanguard merits, which is the whole point of Rikti mothership raids to begin with.
No, it is the PRIMARY point of it. Others include:
  • The exploration badge in the bowl. Yes, they COULD just zerg-rush it. But that means they're taking up a spot in the zone that a full raider could be using. Why not raid too?
  • Badge credits (bombs, Ukon, etc)
  • XP
  • Merits
  • Being around 20-50 other people hell-bent on kicking some alien ***.

3. You're not going to contribute a whole lot, if anything at all, at level 15 or 20. In fact, you could be potentially taking a spot from a level 35+ player that would contribute to the raid's success, since the RWZ is capped at 50 people.
Still, if they're willing to contribute ANYTHING, and they're not taking a spot in the zone that could be better utilized by someone else trying to get in. So what?

4. If I make an exception for one person to bring a lowbie, that opens a Pandora's Box. If I allow Joe Schmoe to bring a level 20 Brute, why should I not allow Tim Schmoe to bring a level 20 Controller? Then Jane Schmoe to bring a level 15 Tanker? Etc.
Again, so what? As long as you set some basic ground rules (no "all level 15 raids", etc), and other common sense precautions, there shouldn't be an issue.

Remember, the raids FAIL if you try to shave it too close.

Regardless, my stance is not going to change. Anyone is welcome at my mothership raids, provided they are on a level 35+ toon. If they do not like that, they are free to lead a Rikti mothership raid of their own.
How exactly are you going to force a team harboring their own lowbies to leave?

Sure you could make a few exceptions but the problem is where do you draw the line without pissing people off?

"So and so is on a lvl 15 i want to bring mine too" Next thing you know you have a bunch of people upset because they didn't get to bring theirs lowbie.

Sure a couple would not hurt the entire raid but most people are selfish and given the chance will bring a lowbie and then pitch a tantrum if asked to switched to a 50 because over all the raid does need more 50's in order to be successful. That in itself is a fact. The no exception rule is just a hard line that some raid leaders feel needs to be drawn in order for a raid to be successful. There are lots of other days raids can be lead, if people want to lead a raid full of lowbies and minimal 50's.

Celestial shouldn't be knocked for wanting to ensure success though. If the raid failed, people would blame him for poor leadership. Given that his raids are always successful, thus far, then I believe his methods and reasoning is sound. And regardless of the opinion of some people... last weeks raid was still full and a success so I don't see one persons petty drama keeping others from raiding.

Either way, he has to put up with **** because people are always going to ***** when they don't get their way. As has been said. Don't like his rules.. run your own.

Wherever you feel comfortable that the raid can still succeed.

On Protector, we've had weeks where, even though we had a minimum number of people the raid was called for that week. And others, with a slightly different cast of characters have gone on a small-teams *** kicking campaign.

It's nobody's business whom a team captain allows on their team.
It's also nobody's business who a raid leader allows in their raid.
Can there still be some flexibility in there? Sure. It's not an "all or nothing" proposition.

And you will still have people pissed because you DO have to draw a line at some point in order for the raid to succeed. Easier to start with a no one under 35 policy and hold to it, to start with.

Yes it can be done in any variety of ways. Question is why are people giving Celestial so much flack for doing it his way when they are more then welcome and able (since they obviously know what they're doing) to lead a raid on any given day.

Bingo. It's no ones business but the raid leaders. Yes there can be flexibility but that is up to each raid leader and their preferences.
You don't like his rules wait until there's a raid you can play in that you prefer. Or lead one yourself.
Celestials raids succeed. I believe that speaks for itself.

No one is really right or wrong. Its a difference of opinions in how one likes things to be done.

Haven't been on a mothership raid since leagues started but im wondering how you keep someone from participating in a mothership raid ?

is there a way to keep 'them' or a group of 'them' out of the zone and away from the mothership ?

I understand you can kick them from a league but im not seeing how that could stop a mixed team (mixed as in levels ) from participating (killing pylons or Rikti atop the mothership) if they wanted to.

just curious about the above as im intrested in the mechanics of how you'd manage this and not the actual discussion about who should be allowed to participate and who dosn't like how whom leads a raid .

Really can't keep anyone from participating in a raid, playing Devil's adovacate you can form your own 8 man team during the raid and not be on a league. Also zone caps at 50 if your in league or not. So as long as you have a lvl 50 team lead, lowbies can run with ya and help contribute it's a win win for everyone, XP, VG Merits, and badges.

Thanks SD , thats sorta what I thought but didn't have enough experience with open zone league raid content (like Hamidon Raids and Mothership raids as part of a league) to be sure .

On Virtue for a bit we had farmers that would simply afk in a corner during a hami raid then come in for their hit and reward and had wondered due to the discussion if there had been some way implemented to keep folks out with the addition of leagues (other than the care bear stare or dirty looks )

and with a answer given im out of the thread .

Bring any toon you want, need at least 9 50s, 2-3 per team on the league. I lead MotherShip Raids Sundays at 9pm Eastern, start forming up at 8:30pm ET. I have no trouble with deaths/league/team whipes its rare to see 2-4deaths at a time thats for any level toon.

My problem is people doing what they want and shout out other commands and not FOLLOW the LEAGUE LEADER. I go First pylon then the next pylon E.x 10 - 12. There was a person on the league last night that was commanding and people were following him. He runs off to a side of the ship to unlock more Bombs - gets himself killed. If you really want to lead a raid/trial... Go a head. Just don't do it when one is leading, and in the middle of it. It causes confusion and usually causes more deaths.

Yesterday's raid averaged in 800-1300merits per team.

Just a reminder that I will not lead a Rikti mothership raid tomorrow night due to the Halloween content going live. I will lead two back-to-back Rikti mothership raids next Thursday. Enjoy the haunted house, y'all.

Ooops, I guess I should have posted here instead...

I just wanted to say, I got to participate in my first Exalted Rikti Raid last night with my Beam Rifle dude: Nekron.

I wanted to thank... I think it was Mr.Incarnate for organizing that. I had a blast and it was a great turnout.

The ship was so... busy, all I could do was spam my Overcharge (nuke). It was awesome... I'd nuke, then read the combat window to see what died.

Not a complaint, but it was surprising how few support toons showed up.

Anyway thanks again for all that organized. I'm coming back for sure... I have a few 40+ toons that would love it.

That's par for the course since Exalted opened. Most of the post-50 content I've done on Exalted has been with a large number of melee toons. I can't blame 'em. I love playing Brutes myself. But, any raid or trial with an overwhelming number of melee or DPS is bound to fail. That's why I've made and leveled two Force Field Defenders, 'cause I can't count on someone else bringing one to Rikti mothership raids, and bubblers are crucial for their success, (albeit less so now with Barrier and Clarion Destiny powers).

Hmmm, maybe I"ll bring my Fire-Time Corr to the next one.... He's got Chrono and the +def power well slotted, not to mention a decent heal.

Sunday Raids are at 8:30pm to match Thursday Raids so people can just stick to 1 time slot for it.

Changed the time on the Exalted League MotD. However, just fyi, the time for the Thursday mothership raids was changed to 8 P.M. ET as mentioned in a couple of posts prior.
