Filling my Alpha Slot

As someone who both dislikes:

(a) crafting
and
(b) trading among players

what recourse do I have to fill my alpha slot, and otherwise participate in end game content? So far with my research, it looks like I have to do at least one (if not both) of these things to even get a 'common' thing.

Am I wrong?

My characters are not "toons". They are all project characters, though.

No, you'll need to do a bit of crafting. But it's not that difficult, really. There's only one single kind of salvage you need to collect (the incarnate shards), and once you have enough of it you can convert it as needed. (Granted, it might be faster to do certain TFs in order to get the components you need, but if you don't want to think about that, just play normally until you collected enough shards.)

Alpha components (or any incarnate components, for that matter) cannot be traded between players. (With one exception, you can't even transfer components from one of your characters to another.) Being incarnated is a very personal process.

B is not an option because incarnate related stuff is not tradeable period (the closest to a trade you can do is sent yourself thread vouchers with astral and emp merits)

the only option for incarnate stuff is essentially crafting (although its a LOT simpler than IOs in a way)

for the alpha slot all of the components can either be crafted from shards or directly awarded from tfs (each tf awards a different component, which will help avoid some of the crafting)

Yeah, if you're worried about crafting = "I need to find/buy the right salvage," don't be. If you've got Alpha unlocked and do nothing else but run missions, you'll get shards. It's the only "salvage" you get. (Yes, this is ignoring WTF rewards, etc.) *except Gr'ai matter, which you can get with Vanguard merits (150) as well.

You pick the Alpha you want, it'll tell you what you need. Make them as you get the shards. Then make the alpha.

Now, if you want to get to the T3 you'll end up wanting to run the WTF at least once to get a Notice of the Well. Much faster that way, and you'll likely get a whack of shards, too.

You can also craft Alpha components out of the salvage and Thread drops you get from going on Incarnate Trials. A lot of people tend to consider it a waste since you can use Shards for the Alpha but not for the other stuff, but sometimes it can be faster since you get at least one piece of salvage per trial.

Well, you can craft Alpha powers from thread, or you can convert Shards, Notices, and Favors to threads. So shards are still useful.

I'd consider using shards easier than threads for the T3 and T4 alphas, just because you can be guarenteed to get a Notice from the WST and then get enough shards while running for the 4 notices if you need a Favor for the T4

Plus, if you dislike crafting....you can craft all the incarnate powers right from the incarnate interface wherever you are. So you don't have to run around to WWs or your base or the universities or go to your vault to do the crafting. It's pretty quick and easy for the incarnate slots.
