Mind/fire, i need more AoE

Well, I've had this dom for a while. He was in fact created with the sole purpose of doing a solo LRSF. Of course, while putting him together and playing him i found out that he was ******* fun and quickly became my favorite toon. But after i20 hit he fell behind my SS/fire as my favorite toon, mostly because of his lack of AoE, so he went into sleep mode for a few months while i started punching people while lighting them on fire. But now i want to dust him off and get back to confusing people while lighting them on fire.

Anyway, i can’t quite figure out how i want to get more AoE on him without sacrificing too much STdps and my ability to kill AVs *quickly.* Because my first thought would be to get pyre, so i can get fire ball and rain...but i dont want to lose sleet. Yet i am worried if ice storm offers good AoE. Then i noticed combustion, which looks pretty good but that long animation has me worried. Of course, reactive will be more affective in combustion that a rain power...currently anyway.



So here is build one, mind/fire/pyre. It has combustion now, but if rain is better i would get that. Its not soft capped to s/l either but with the growing amount of nrg dmg im just tried to get 20 s/l/e/n.

I really like ice storm on my plant/earth/ice. I can hold a group drop sleet + ice storm on them and then run and go confuse + kill another group and when I come back the first one usually has very damaged/dead lt's + bosses left. Another thing if you don't like combustion fire breath isn't all that bad, its got a decent cone and does damage overall faster than combustion.

On my Mac so can't see your build. But did you slot Terrify for damage? It's a reasonable AOE cone.

I was using Fire Breath + Terrify on my Mind/Fire dom before APPs. I am going to retire her though because even with APPs she can't come close to the AOE dmg of my Plant/Fire/Fire (Roots + proc'd Creepers).

I like Ice APP for sleet like you say but sleet + ice storm seems to do a lot less dmg than Firey Embrace + Roots + Rain of Fire?

I do have terrify slotted for dmg, and it is pretty sweet. My current AoE is generally sleet, terrify, then consume. But thats just not enough.

But if ice storm+sleet does ok i think ill try that out. Im really not a fan of fire breath. I just find the cone isnt wide enough.

Icestorm+Sleet has been great on my Mind/Fire. I do however use Fire Breath instead of Terrify. Terrify just ruins the damage that confused mobs should be doing to each other and I like to think of those confused mobs as a source of AOE damage.

If you want good AoE damage on a mind/fire I would suggest going with fire mastery for fireball + rain of fire. Fireball will give you a fast firing, good damage targetted AoE attack that is a lot easier to use than fire breath and RoF will give you a huge area damage power that will be great to drop on a mob you have locked down with total domination or mass confusion. Both powers will be boosted by embrace of fire as they do fire damage.

While sleet + ice storm will probably work better for boosting group damage, due to the debuff in sleet boosting everyone's damage, the combo of embrace of fire + fireball + RoF will likely give you more personal damage.

So now i generally always have at least oen AoE up and i think it fits my goals as it gains decent AoE without giving up a very noticeable amount of STdps (unfortunatly he isnt soft capped though) After testing it out for a bit i noticed something... I'm not perma dom without hasten, going afk is gonna be a ***** now. lol

Ageless will get you there if you don't want to change any slotting. tier 4 works out to around 22% global recharge boost. More than Enough to keep you perma even out of hasten.

You can also swap to 5 piece of Oblits in Combustion and get to to perma dom minus hasten. That is a bit harder on end of course but you have Consume every 50 seconds and dom every 89.1 to top of the end bar so you should be able to manage it.

Actually you have just enough recharge for permadom without hasten.

He's at 89.9 seconds recharge for Domination. Domination has a cast time of 1.32 seconds. Don't you need to cover the animation time to get the power to be actually perma?

I know for Perma PA I needed to be able to have the power recharge in 56.7 seconds to be able to actually keep PA out perma.

I have noticed with Domination in the past that when the power expires and the Domination bar starts it drain animation that if I click before the bar zeroes out I am able to get dom back up again. So perhaps you don't have to cover all 1.32 seconds of cast time?

Yeah, I'm not sure if the cast time matters, but I had a Dom with exactly 122.5% recharge and it was just enough. It was like you said, the Domination bar starts to drop, but it's renewed before it does all the way.
