Dual Pistols/ Mental Manipulation HELP!

So I recently hit 50 on my DP/MM Blaster. I'm looking to use this Toon for 100% PVE. This means i will do alot of AE Farming (S/L, some fire) and sometimes a few TF's. I am looking to spend about 2-5 Bil inf on this toon and could go more if needed. Could you please help me make a build suited for me? Please post any suggestions you may have! I would really appreciate this.

Thanks

3. You don't need to even spend a billion.

4. Yea I sound like a jerk. But you didn't even bother trying. Put a little effort in. Heck copy the guys build below and say its your and ask us what we think, its DP MM how different could it be from another DP MM ?

Hmmm i know It seems like i didn't even bother trying although this is not true. I have asked around in game for lots of advise, and some people told me their build cost up to 11 Bil. I also did look at several DP/MM in forums although i still haven't found what I'm looking for.

I have also found this build which I'm not sure if its good enough for what i want to do. Here it is and tell me if this would be suited for me.

No that build is not good.

Look, I'm going to teach you how to fish and then at the end I am going to give you the fish. You decide what you want out of this.

The only way YOU will ever know if a build is good or not is by YOU understanding the game mechanics. How they work, what the limits are, ETC. Otherwise some schmuck is gonna come here post some build like the one you have and tell you its good and you not knowing any better will spend your money on something useless just to find out you could have made 5 level 50 IO'ed toons for the price of one. What's that saying the closest distance between 2 points is a straight line. Well that build has many zigzags and dead ends.

So you understand the only way a DP MM does any farming is via Vengeance in a S/L specific AE mission.

Luckily you will have an endless supply of players who will be willing to play dead in any sort of farm for you. Heck you will get players asking you even when your don't want them or need them eventually.

Outside of AE on team they are decent up until someone dies and they can fire off Vengeance once again. But then again everyone benefits from vengeance so everyone becomes a great farming toon for a few moments that vengeance is active.

That being said you need to really read these posting until you understand them. I know you will go to them and skim them and toss them aside. I would suggest at a minimum bookmark them and eventually you will be lead to enough dead ends that you will be force to learn this stuff yourself.

Finally the build. No purples.

http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...=267535&page=2

As I mentioned if you want to spend the 5 billion slot in 2 purple sets and the Gladiator Armor IO. But even that build needs reworking. There are of course many other builds in that thread you can work with.

Again remember the whole deal around DP MM and it requirements. Don't be fooled for a moment your going to run into some other farm or mission and just kick butt without having vengeance active and is not filled with S/L attack type mobs.

Alright I will read through the links. I had a question i didn't fully understand. Why is vengeance the only way i will be able to farm in a S/L farm. I know it helps a lot, is there a way to get around it? Last thing if i wanted vengeance on the build you posted wht would u get rid of? Thanks BTW, this has been very helpful.

I am posting my build, only as food for thought, and to demonstrate that my build's number's aren't that far off of that other build with purples and PVP IOs.

The most costly sets in my build are Oblits, Kinetic Combats and LoTG's.
I put together my build with only 500 mil (some things i know I over paid, with patience probably could have been 300mil) and ample merit use. (Use your second build to frankenslot a decent mid level 20's build (6-slot all powers you would get before lvl 30) and you can run some really nice arc's for some really nice merits.

Here's the build, again only for a demo, I don't recommend just building it, it's for comparison sake:

Another point to consider. Incarnate powers are very strong and help alot when farming.

My non softcapped DP/MM (500 mil build, only confuse purples) was able to complete a fire ambush farm (go till ticket capped) set at 0/6 no bosses without dying multiple times solo (no veng). I had clarion which is useless for farming, so I would imagine a barrier would make it safe at 0/8 no bosses. Bosses off is key because they dont drop fast enough. Lore is nice, but does not survive all that well. Reactive is awesome with all of DPs aoes and helps drop things even faster. Farming for me is all about how fast I can get and consume insperations so you are def and res capped and stay that way.

DP/MM is never gonna be an SS/Fire for farming. If you are going to drop alot of inf for a farming toon I would ask why bother when you can get the best farming toon for pretty cheap.

I had always assumed a DP/MM with softcapped S/L, perma Drain (to heal the hits that do get thru) wouldn't even need Vengeance to farm?

But the above needs repeating. If great farming is your goal, PL a dedicated farm toon. If you are just looking for variety or "Hey lookit!" grins and giggles, 500MM to turn your DP/MM into a farming build isn't a bad investment. It wouldn't be my go-to build for serious farming but blasters never are.

I personally have been building my post 50 DP/MM blaster to be a better farmer... but not for farming's sake. I do like to do the odd farming mission or two while LFT, or do my alignment missions on +1/x4 or better. Having enough defense to farm (even while popping 1-2 purples), means that I can play aggressively in teams without being to dependent on the defender to buff/heal me or the tank to draw aggro.

That being said. I've found it difficult to cap S/L while keeping the powers that I like. Yes, I can get Blackscorpion's shield, sacrifice many of my attack powers to slot up global S/L but I'm not liking that toon much. This is currently my secondary, less-developed build.

Without even trying, I've found getting melee defense over 20% by cheap global sets alone is pretty easy. I'm in the process of making this an alternative to S/L defence (probably by reworking my secondary build).

The new leaping pool power, Spring Attack, has the same recharge as Hail of Bullets and Drain Psyche, and can teleport you into Melee range. BU+Spring Attack+Drain Psyche+Hail of Bullets+Psychic Shockwave anyone?

Yup, that leaping pool seems to have quite a nice 'opening' for several sets.
(granted, on a granite tank it looks plain funny)

I hate I have to beta test stuff when it goes live because I can't get past the tutorial on my Mac. Very annoying indeed..

I didn't know about the new power pool! Sounds awesome and a bit overdue in the game! I'm liking COH-Freedom more and more.
