Ele/Dual Blade build help: range/melee defense

Hey all! My goal for this character is to achieve at least 40 defense for Ranged and Melee. I'd like to keep all of the Primary and Secondary powers I have selected, except I don't care if I have Blinding Feint or not. I'd also like to keep Hover, but I would not like to have to use it to reach 40 ranged/melee defense.

Question I have r u going to be a hover tank?

Well only in some circumstances, so I'd like to get 40 ranged and melee defense without it on. however if if it can't be pulled of, then I will use hover to reach my goal, like what I have in my post(maybe not the exact build but something similar, the build above is just an outline).

Do you team with this build? I don't know why you don't go 45% S/L and then put more slots/power choices into end drain and aggro management.

Most attacks will be say S/L but many are F/L or E/S meaning that with any of these attacks because they are part Lethal or part Smash you can have def to them.

With that def you should also be able to end drain, removing most of the mobs endurance whilst they remove their own from missing you mostly and as they do you would remove their end recovery so they can't restore endurance. At 0 end they will only muster enough endurance to hit you with their lightest attacks if they live that long.

Then when it comes to AVs Taunt the power is the best bet for ultimate flexibility so that you not only tank them on your terms but they don't turn around for someone more threatening and use a cone attack towards the team.

S/L at 45% is a lot easier. It could be an AoE, ranged or a melee attack that has either one of them components which is most attacks that npcs try to hit you with.

Also you will not get the benefits from grounded if you do use Hover, IE mez protection, and KBs. Mez like holds, imm, sleep. If you look around on this forum u can find my build for my Ele/DB tank.

You should care if you have Blinding Feint. It's a stackable damage buff that boosts your damage aura as well.

Grounded is immob, kb, and endurance drain, not hold or sleep. The protection also still applies while you are hovering if you are close enough to the ground. Most of your mez protection comes from static shield.

I agree it would probably be better to get s/l defense.

Does the end drain protectoin in Grounded work when off the ground?

I always assumed it did.

You are over the rule of 5 with both sweep strike and one thousand cuts with the cleaving blow. Plus the OP wanted to keep Hover. Also your attacks are lacking acc, the ones with just the KC in them. I usually put in another slot for ACC in them. I switched some of them around for the OP.

Immob protection isn't affected as well. Only the KB protection changes off the ground.
