Something I would pay for in the new store

I was just thinking about it, and something I'd pay for in the new store I bet they hadn't even thought of was the ability to unlock the Mayhem and Safeguard missions in Oroborous.

I really like doing those missions, particularly Mayhems, but they're all level locked, and repeating the Perigrine Mayhem/Safeguard really loses its luster after a while. There are times I'd like to just log in and cause chaos and mass destruction in a way that only a Mayhem could provide, or when I really want to get that basic 'feel good' heroism that comes from preventing a bank robbery and helping citizens all over the city, few things provide that as readily as a Safeguard.

Anyway, that's something I could see myself paying for in the new store. The only unfair advantage something like that would offer is easy access to some exploration badges (and yeah, the accolade) but I don't see that as a major issue really, since you still have to do the work, you just don't have to depend on hunting down a character in the right level range to get it for you. Besides, it's really not about that for me. I just really like doing the Mayhems and Safeguards.

What are things you'd pay for that don't 'break the system' that the Dev's probably haven't thought of to add yet?

I couldn't agree more.

There's an active thread in the beta Discussion subforum regarding Mayhems and Safeguards in Ouroboros. There was probably a thread in the closed beta forums too. The devs probably have already thought about it, to be honest. Our devs aren't dumb. If you'd like to talk about adding something to beta, best bet is to do it there, where the devs are concentrating.

Regarding the question at the end, I have no suggestions.

I would pay for the ability to start at level 22.

I would tie the ability to buy this to time played, prerequisite would be 4 years in game.

After over 7 years I think I understand how the first part of the game works now.

Didn't know that, thanks for the link My online time is limited so I only check a few of the boards here. I wasn't even considering this as a beta suggestion, just a general chat about what I would like to see become available, and what we'd be willing to pay to see if it was unlikely they'd do it any other way.

Never thought the Dev's were dumb, but tips/mayhems/safeguards are from many issues ago. With all the new stuff in the pipe, I figured such things may not have occured to the Dev's. I think they're actually very smart, attentive to the playerbase, and willing to listen or I wouldn't have have bothered posting this thread. It also seems to me that they're easily sidetracked by new stuff and can sometimes forget about older stuff, even if it still needs attention (but that's a different thread altogether ).

While I'm personally not keen on leveling shortcuts in general, I could see that as a 'pay for' priviledge, for one character per purchase.

I know I'd have taken advantage of it on my 3rd incarnation of my Ice/* Tank (have tried Super Strength, Energy, went back to Super Strength, and finally fell in love with Kinetic Melee for him when it came out).

I think I'd also pay a modest fee for permanently unlocking auras and capes. I know you can spend a few Astrals to give it to a character, but you still have to do that after character creation. I love that I have options now at character creation with my purchased sets, but for a few dollars more, I wouldn't mind having ALL my options available.

Yeah, I'd pay for this too.

They all laughed at me when I said I wanted to be a comedian.
But I showed them, and nobody's laughing at me now!

What about this:

Instead of repeating the same Mayhem/Protect mission why not have the detective state the following: "We've received a tip that one of the banks in Paragon will be a potential target for a robbery today. However, we're not quite sure which it will be..."

At this point you are able to do any Mayhem/Protect mission equal or lower to your security clearance level. However, if say you elected King's Row, but your cleared for Pergrine you are lowered to a level of effectiveness in line with the level range for that Mayhem/Protect. This, I think, is a much better solution and would require very minimal coding/dialogue tweaks.

I 3rd this! Though I just wish they'd make them global instead and call it a day. As they make more powersets, I'm sure some folks will (or have wanted) to change their main characters/badgers but don't want to lose the anniversary badges to do it.

I think that's a cool idea too, but some characters don't exemplar down as well as others. While I have a few I could just run Mayhems and Safeguards of all levels over and over for the fun of it, I also have a few that would be seriously hampered trying to do random one that turns out to be at a level where they are... less than optimal. Not so cool if someone's trying to do one to unlock a contact.

However, I'd be all for them coming up with other Mayhems/Safeguards for each level range so you're not stuck fighting Malta and Carnies or PPD and Knives every time you want to do one at level 50. Even then, I'd still want the option to do the other ones as well though.

Oooo! Good idea Mix mine with yours.

The mayhem/protect maps are the same, but filled with whatever you are meant to face at your current level! I think we have a winner!

I would love if the Detective offered a choice of Safeguards & then let us choose the level (Current level or Exemplar to the Safeguards normal level).

Example

Choose Safeguard:

Atlas
Kings Row
Skyway City
Steel Canyon
Independence Port
Talos Island
Brickstown
Founders' Falls
Peregrine Island

You have selected Skyway City Safeguard.

Do you want to:

1. Proceed at your current level (Level 50 facing Level 50 enemies)
2. Exemplar to Level 20 (facing Level 20 enemies)

The problem with this one is that enemies in City don't necessarily cover every level range, so it wouldn't work like that. They'd have to spend A LOT of time creating new enemies for almost every faction, since most of them are represented in Safeguards/Mayhems.

For option 1, I’m not asking for the Devs to create a higher level for groups that don’t exist at that level.

What I’m asking for is, of the groups that already exist at your level, for one of them to be randomly chosen & placed into that Safeguard/Mayhem.

And for option 2, it would be the normal level spawns for that Safeguard/Mayhem, you would be exemplaring down to that level.

I hope that clarifies what I’m trying to say.

I think this is a bad idea. If too many Vets take advantage of this, there will be literally no one knowledgeable in the 1-22 Zones... and create the illusion that in order to play this game, you need to get to 22+ ASAP, making it all the more likely that new people will miss out on some of the great new content that is being created for those lower levels.
