It's a long time ago... but I remember on my plant/thorn perma dom I 6-slotted it with ragnarok. I know it's pricey but with the KB it's really nice. The enemies are all flipping around n' stuff!
If not affordable then I'd probably frankenslot it for recharge and as much dmg as possible, with some procs as gravy. I wouldn't try to go for set bonuses as Positron's blast doesn't give much rechage, thinking about 47%. More recharge means more mayhem!
It depends of course on what type of troller you are. If you're not so dependable on the carrions, which many trollers/doms are, then you can of course go for 5x posi with proc ( leave dmg/range out) and add a 50 rech IO on top of it. You should get close to 90% recharge and also the 6.25% recharge bonus. Posi blast has so much dmg embedded in it anyway that you will get over 90% dmg from it.

As Hercules said, both damage and procs are good. The main issue is that Set IOs don't all transfer through to the pet completely. So for a level 50 build, I would recommend what Herc posted, Nucs for Acc/Dam, some recharge and then some damage procs. Impeded Swiftness is first choice, it procs the most often, then Posi if you have slots. Before 50, I believe I went with 1 ACC, 2 Dam and 2 Rech Common IOs, and the Impeded Swiftness Proc.

Impeded will proc very slightly more since it can proc via the initial patch too but in my AE tests the two end up around the same, both have a chance of proccing from each attack the Vines or corpse-brambles make.
Hercs slotting is pretty much what I have as well but pre-50 I used Air Burst and Detonation Acc/Dam IOs as they are pretty cheap.
it takes immob sets, so would Gravitation Anchor also be a good bet for a proc?

Grav Anchor goes in Roots, where it can be spammed beyond belief (along with the normal Immob damage PROC and maybe another Posi Blast if you're feeling flush).
Fly Trap is a decent enough place for the Achilles Heel proc and maybe a Shield Breaker damage proc.
Targeted AOE sets pass through to all the vine attacks, so those procs are pretty important.
I have mine slotted with 1 Nucleolus and 2 Ragnaroks (D/R and A/D/R), plus the procs from Impeded Swiftness, Posi Blast and Jav Volley. The damage added by the procs is immense; I did a test a couple months ago where threw Creepers into two bunched up spawns of Rikti and just let them chew on them for 30 seconds without doing anything to assist them; I counted 106 procs in 30 seconds.
