Wait, voice-overs?
It is probably a good thing user made voiceovers is not going to happen. I'd have to go through the effort of making every voice over in the game be a repeating track of Navi from Ocarina of Time going "Hey! Listen!" over and over again for about 10 seconds and then trick someone into using it.
Work in progress no more. I have decided that I'm going to put my worst spelling errors here. Triage Bacon, Had this baster idea, TLR
"I'm going to beat the Jesus out of Satan!" My Wife while playing Dante's Inferno
And whenever a topic like this pops up, I can't help but brainstorm "okay, who would sound good with Christopher Lee's voice"..
Sure do like that man's voice xD |
Just imagine this SPOILERRIFFIC quote as read by Christopher Lee:
I'm afraid that I cannot allow you to win, Character!
Not when I'm on the cusp of a victory you can barely even conceive!
With my role revealed, it's time to activate my secondary plan.
You see, I'm going to upload a copy of my superior intellect into the Rikti's mental network.
Soon I shall be distributed across 2 billion minds.
An immortal will with innumerable legions for a body!
You may now applaud my audacity...
But I cannot let you stop me!

Okay, forgetting the terror of adding voice acting into the full scope of the game (Adding it to the tutorial could make good sense... Hell, an mmorpg I played years ago had a voice over for the tutorial, even though the rest of the game had none. So, that's nothing to be frightened off... Well... unless things end up the same... but anyway...)...
This subject (and, more-so, the later subject of our dream voice casting for CoH characters...) led me to a grave discovery of what is wrong with City Of Heroes...
There isn't a character well-suited for Alan Rickman.
Unless Nemesis would work...

Rickmann would make a great Nemesis.. cold and calculating like he was in Die Hard
He'd also do well as the voice of say the Clockwork King or even Anti-Matter. He does have the acting ability to poull it off and i have seen him do CRAZED roles in the past.
Were always the good guys. In D&D, were lawful good. In City of Heroes were the heroes. In Grand Theft Auto we pay the prostitutes promptly and never hit them with a bat. Leonard
Those women are prostitutes? You said they were raising money for stem cell research! Sheldon
Maurice LaMarche could handle voicing Rularuu to your satisfaction, I think
"How do you know you are on the side of good?" a Paragon citizen asked him. "How can we even know what is 'good'?"
"The Most High has spoken, even with His own blood," Melancton replied. "Surely we know."
They confirmed in the UStream braodcast today that the voiceovers are only for the tutorial and for things like the pop help system - nothing is planned for normal mission content.

Wow I am very out of the loop ever since I gave up any hope of my Kheld questions being answered on U Stream and stopped watching...
Very glad COH is incorporating voice acting. The cut scenes in particular feel very primitive with text boxes.
