WP/SS--Yes, Another IO Build Plea for Help

Hey all,

I promise, I've spent hours and I've read the past 20 or so pages on WP, SS, and IO stuff. That said, I'm back to the game after another lengthy (8 months?) layoff, and I'd greatly appreciate those of you with far better knowledge of IOs helping me out.

My goals for this build are as follows:

1. I want to be the best all-around tank I can be. I want great regen, defense, resistance as able, etc. WP helps me do that; IOs enhance what WP naturally does.
2. I'd still like to do decent damage. I know I'm a tank, but with SS I have great AoE damage with Foot Stomp, especially if my recharge is solid, and my single target attack chain is solid, too.
3. Did I mention I'm going for all-around effectiveness?

I'm not sold on energy mastery, but given the bang for the buck issues--I just don't have any slots to spare--it seemed like the best choice. Physical Perfection and Conserve Power aren't awful, either way.

Anyway, any help is very much appreciated. Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this build and make suggestions.

Ok why did you wait so long to take SoW? I would of taken it lot sooner then lvl 49. You are also over SC on s/l even without maneuvers. I might of taken something else besides it, plus a different epic power pool. Plus I would of not put the stealth proc in there with sprint, and token taunt sooner around lvl 20 or so. But it is not bad. Those are a few things I would of done anyway.

Looks pretty solid. I wouldn't go that far past the soft-cap though. I would rely on inspirations to combat heavy defense debuffs.

If you want a better attack chain, drop the slots out of Taunt and put them in Gloom from the Soul Mastery Epic pool. You can spare the S/L defense and pick up a bit more recharge if you slot Decimation. For the extra power choice, you could pick up Dark Obliteration if you found more slots, or Resurgence.

Bad idea unless you want to go to vill side.

You can always go back :-) Besides, Gloom is that good and Dark Oblit is a decent AoE. I would rather go with DN for a little extra mitigation, though.

SG: Guadians of Paragon - VG: Paragon's Darkness
The Usual Suspects: Fimboolvetr (Icer Tank), Tsukiyomi (Mind/Psi/Ice Dom), Smiting Dragon (Dm/Sr Scrap), Widow Mortis (NW)
Up and Comers: Ameterasu (Km/Reg Scrap), Arrhymian (Elec/Nin Stalk), TDMKII (Bot/Traps MM)

My only concern is taking Taunt at level 30. If you are playing this from level 1 you will need taunt much, much sooner, like level 10 when it first becomes available. Since the taunt aura is so weak you will need Taunt as an aggro tool.

Uber Talgrim - level 50 emp/dark defender
Uber Rod - level 50 dark melee/regen scrapper
Rod Valdr - level 50 invuln/SS tanker
Talgrim - level 50 ninja/dark mastermind

OMG!! Please add these costume designs now!

Depending on your character concept and comfort level with your character acting villainous, the fact that it's temporary can be irrelevant. I never RP, but my character concepts are important enough to me that I wouldn't have the really heroic ones turn villain just to get a epic attack. I had enough trouble getting through the villain alignment missions on my Brute.

So yeah, I'm with LSK, that's not an option for everyone.

This concerned me as well. If you're planning to do any tanking for teams, be aware that RttC is nothing like Invincibility when it comes to holding aggro. You will want Taunt significantly sooner than 30 for team play, or you're going to have a lot of trouble holding threat (and keeping some teams going).

I appreciate the feedback.

This is a respec at 50; I already have this guy at 50 and I'm playing around. As to taunt, I took it much earlier when I was leveling than I have it in this build.

I've already run and completed all the task forces and earned all the accolades on this toon. I don't go back on toons like this to work on low-level content. I use alts for that. As such, when certain powers are taken--taunt at 30, SoW at 49--is in part due to things not really mattering as I'll only be playing this guy at 50.

I'm going to look into droping my slots in taunt; I don't need all the bonuses I'm getting there and might be able to use them better elsewhere. Any thoughts?

Thanks for all of the feedback; I'll post an updated build later tonight.

I wouldn't if your doing the incarnate stuff, from what I heard the SC for that is a bit higher and you might want to keep it at that. I think it is a solid build for what you plan on doing, since you said you are not going to nothing but level 50 content.
