I'm not going to pretend to know what you've gone through already, or pretend I know how to solve your issues. But I also won't pretend your problems can't be solved. Even if it takes an ongoing dialog with QA or the devs responsible for interfacing with the launcher, it can be done.
I don't think they're evicting you, or giving up on you. I think it's going to take some work on both your parts.

Hmmm, sounds like a typical c# error message. Does the launcher use .Net? Have you tried updating that to latest version of .Net?
I take it you have tried updating or reverting your graphic card drivers? They are often the culprit in problems like this.
It also says "Error downloading file: http://launcher.patcher.ncsoft.com/NCLauncher/Main/Manifests/PatchListManifest.xml" What happens if you put that url in a browser? I can download the file. If you can't then its your ISP.
Alternatively could you try download the game through Steam? Not a Steam fan myself but maybe worth a go. If that doesn't work, uninstall and try from a clean setup?

Invalid handle on a socket call sounds like something is wrong at the network layer (of the OS, not your internet provider), maybe a security program blocking something it shouldn't.

ok.. putting on my support hat now.
usually application errors this bad are a problem with updates. It is not your pc as the problem lies in connection setup.
do the following steps carefully...
- Deinstall the NCSOFT launcher from 'Add/remove programs'
- goto microsoft updates and run ALL updates requeyred but also check for additional updates like .NET
- reboot (or reboot several times) till no important updates are found. (incl the additional ones you selected)
- Do a disc cleanup and a defragmentation just in case
- make sure your old game locations are where you want them to be and clean up the way the folders are named. You could also start a new one and copy over the *.piggs
- re-install the NCSOFT launcher
- Re-boot and check if the COX links are reachable
- run the launcher and re-install the game in the folder you selected for it.
- Is it downloading the files needed now?
Basically start over on a trustworthy way... Going back often helps to go forward.

Didn't read through the whole thread - but if you're on Windows, do you have Service Pack 3 installed? I know I was having a ton of issues until I patched that one in.
Devs, I understand the desire by NCsoft to use thier new fangled Launcher, and I have nothing against using it. Except I CAN'T use it.
For unknown reasons, it will not work on my computer, I've worked with Alpha Wolf, Avatea, and numerous forum members, nothing helps.
All I'm asking is that if there is a way to keep the old launcher working alongside the new one, please make it so. I'm a day-one vet with two accounts. I've pruchased every booster and expansion TWICE, and would certainly be doing the same with all the new stuff in COH Freedom. but if my accounts are no longer playable on August 4th, then I guess I'm done.
I don't know if anyone else is having the same issues as I, ( I know linux users can't use the launcher, but I'm on Windows XP) but seriously, I feel kind of hosed right about now, and I'm sure anyone else having the same issues feels the same way. If I had the cash, I'd buy a new computer or OS in the hopes it worked.
COH is the only game I play, I love this game, this community and the devs. Please help me and anyone else in my position out. I feel like I'm being evicted.
