when i21 goes live the booster packs will be sold for paragon points in a 'store'
cost should be 10 bucks worth of paragon points (should... may not be)
veteran rewards are being switched to a similar structure
you get veteran tokens for time played from when i21 goes live
and these can be traded in for stuff like 'city traveler' (the get travel power at lvl 6 / without pre-req)
bunch of variables for slots
base is 2 slots these are across ALL servers
you get unlock tokens which you spend on characters or 'slots' to unlock

One thing to remember about those current Vet Rewards that are "so close" for you - Freedom isn't going live in the immediate future (it's in closed beta right now) so you may get the closer Vet Rewards by staying subscribed until Freedom comes out.
My understanding of how the boosters will work is that you can buy separate components from the existing boosters in the store for Paragon Points - only want the Magic Bolero costume piece? - buy that instead of the entire booster.
As far as slots goes - you would get the base 2 slots plus any unlocked by purchase or vet reward and if you are getting close to City Traveller (travel power at level 6), you have a few vet reward slots.

From what's been said, you'll still be able to get all the Vet Rewards you haven't gotten yet, and you may even be able to get them earlier than you would have under the old system. Exact details have not been released yet.

I'm in the same delima, there are a couple of packs I want but haven't bought yet. I could wait and buy them with my Paragon Points, but I don't know if they'll be more expensive that way or how much of a pain it will be to buy each costume piece separately. I think I will buy the packs I want now with real cash and save my free Paragon Points to buy the new stuff that I'm sure will be added in the future.

When your account lapses, you switch to Premium, and ALL your characters get locked out. You are given a number of tokens - at least 2, probably more - and use these to unlock characters. If you begin subscribing again, all your characters unlock. If your account lapses again, all your characters re-lock, and you are granted the same number of unlock tokens you had before, or more if you earned or purchased them during your resubscribed period.

If I were an optimist I'd say they are cutting the price and that IS the entire pack... but I'm not.
It's a good question because I'm conflicted about buying the Animal pack. Should I spend the points I get for free and hope I have enough for all the other goodies I expect to be for sale when i21 goes live... or buy it now and store them against future buys.
Im kinda wondering about a few things. those origin booster packs, they cost about 10 bucks, and have a lotta neat items in them. But i read something that said they wont be avialable after it goes live. Are they gonna be in the store using the coins? Kinda has me wondering if i should pick something up before.. Im kinda wondering what the cost will be after.
the other thing that has me wondering.. the old vet rewards for paid time. I saw something that its being changed? I was so close to a couple of rewards i really wanted.. (prestigue bonus, and travel power at 6) What is gonna happen to those rewards?
