Need the Scrapper Forum Gurus help, MA/SD

I need the help of the scrapper forums gurus. My main is MA/SD, and I've recently been farming my buns off to make some cash so I can make a decent build. I still don't have "LOL PURPLEZ" type money, but I have my 5 LOTG, can afford any other non-purple set and ought to be able to fit one or two purple sets on my build soon. So with that in mind, I need help devising a solid LVL 50, trial/high end TFs/TIPs type build. I don't PVP and I don't generally run low lvl stuff and when I do I have a build that gets the job done. My biggest questions for the guys in the know are:

1) What Epic Power Pool do you think is most worth it? Conceptually I took Caltrops and Exploding Shuriken, and while I can get a nice IO set in the Shuriken, I'm totally at a loss as to what optimal is in the EPP.

2) Is it possible to be end efficient w/o taking the end Alpha? I have cardiac now (T3, hoping for a VR one day) I'd like the damage one or spiritual but I can barely keep my end up now running all the toggles I do.

3) If you could pick 2 purple sets, which ones would you pick and where would you put them in a MA/SD set?

Thanks for reading guys, and any thoughts comments are much appreciated. I'm at the point where I feel like my build is solid, it gets the job done, but it is far from optimal.

I like MA/sd, but it's going to be a little lacking in AOE. As long as you aren't worried about x8, you should do fine, though. MA/sd hits...HARD.

It's tempting to go shopping for more AOE in your Epic: Don't Do It. MA/sd needs the energy pool. You want conserve power and physical perfection. You need the second Performance Shifter +End, and you want conserve power up as much as possible. Feeding that beast is a full time chore.

See above. With stamina and Physical perfection 2 slotted for +end, and conserve power to refill your bar every couple of minutes, you'll be able to afford the extra recharge of spiritual. Although, musculature might net you more dps, it'd be a close bit of math, and /sd doesn't really care TOO much for rech, outside of shield charge.

The melee and pbaoe sets, 5 each, with an extra proc or a non-damage triple in the sixth slot of each. I'd put them in CAK and Dragontail.

But that's just me.

Well, let me state first that I'm not anywhere near a guru, but I thought I'd put my two cents in anyways. I don't know very much about MA (can't really stand it, myself), but I know a bit about Shield.

1) I'm with mauk2 - Body Mastery is your best bet. Slotting Physical Perfection helps a lot. However, I disagree about using Conserve Power. I took it on my BS/SD scrapper only to get to PP and Laser Beam Eyes. Unless you can get enough recharge to make it nearly permanent (and I don't even know if that's possible), my advice would be just to use it at your discretion. I've never had a need to.

2) Yep. PP (and CP, if necessary) helps out a lot, especially with the extra +end chance thrown in there. You could also look for some quick set bonuses to give you spurts here and there, but you shouldn't need very many in that respect. I started with Cardiac with my scrapper but switched to Musclature after getting her end under control. Depending on how you run your attack chain, you could go for Spiritual, but that's again up to your discretion.

3) I don't know much about purples (can't afford 'em lol), but I would love to slot Armageddon and Shield Wall somewhere on my scrapper. I don't think I'd slot both entire sets... maybe 3 or 4, depending. I'd put Arma in one of my AoE hits, and I'd probably throw the SW Unique and two SW Defs in Phalanx Fighting for the health/regen bonuses. (I believe SW is a PVP set, but I'd still take it anyways lol)

Hope this helps a little.

2) Cardiac is not necessary, and I think it is a waste because you could benefit more from Spiritual or Musculature. The Destiny Ageless Tier 4 can give you more endurance than you will ever need. If you don't like that, careful slotting can ensure you don't need endurance management. The Numina's and Miracle uniques are a must, though.

Something to think about, while not much truthfully, NERVE while useless for everything else, does add 3% More defense to help on those iTrials which have a higher softcap. Maybe it's not worth it *Shrug* but I'd think it's something to consider.

As to which two purple sets. Depends! Hecatomb (Melee) for sure and I'd put it in Storm Kick to get more use out of the proc.

The other would be the PBAOE UNLESS I had a range attack, then I might just choose the Range attack for the +RCH, +HP and +Regen (the +DMG is a nice little benny too).

There is also always using the +RCH Destiny, though I think with MA/SH I'd go with Rebirth for the Heal.

Also if you're planning on TF/Trials with this character I don't see why you can't think about slotting Purples (and the PvP +3% Defense IO by either just Hero Merits, EMP Merits or getting enough influnece to buy it).

Set it as a goal to work towards and just make that MA/SH even sweeter!

I forget whose build this was based on. I recently switched from Body to Fire Epic. Yes, it burns end and you lose the end tools of Body. But honestly Shield Charge + DT + Fireball is awesome. Learn to carry blues and team a lot (for +end buffs). I really felt lacking in AOE before the change, and that was after running the Cim wall for a while using DT + Shield Charge.

I won't say MA/SD hits harder than DM/SD (dps-wise), but it seems pretty solid. I just wish the animations were better (even the alternates).
