Electric/Electric... What should I get?
Chain fences is BLEH. Until you slot it with interface.... And then it becomes massive win. If you think ahead, it is a fantastic power. However, it is mostly good only if you have a lot of AOE without knockback. If you can dish AOE, go for chains/interface combo. If not, go for the /elec attack.

Well I'm planning on going Mu Mastery and, if I get there, Ionic Judgement so I'll have two AoEs. I think I'll stick with Chain Fences for now.
Chain fences is one of the few dominator AoE immobs I'd suggest taking. It's not that it immobs (although that can be useful), it's that it drains 10% end per hit. Slot it for endmod and it can significantly reduce the time it takes to sap a group to 0 end.

This is what it means to be a tank!
Yes, I have noticed that it drains everything quicker, mainly because of how Jolting Chains and Synaptic Overload work. I also know that AoE immobs can backfire quite badly on a Dominator; the only one before this I would consider taking is Fire Cages to make a pseudo-hold with Flashfire.
Don't lead off with chain fences, I am sure you don't. As stated, combining it with static field, conductive aura, (get up close and personal) synaptic overload and paralyzing blast. Jolting chain and the gremmies will quickly have most spawns neutered by end drain. Oh and of course, spam the bejeebers out of tesla cage.
Also, you get varying degrees of knock down and knock back from Thunder Strike. It does very appreciable damage for an AoE melee attack. The knockdown as in jolting chains is another effective damage mitigation tool.

HelinCarnate:OMG it is so terrible. I have the option to take 3 more powers but no additional slots. Boo F'ing hoo.
I usually begin with Synaptic Overload, wait a few seconds, run in with Jolting Chains and then lay down a Static Field then just destroy everything. I've been playing at x5.

On teams, I wait until the current spawn is about 2/3 done and hit the next spawn with synaptic overload confuse. It's non-stop fighting.

Yay for shared tactics! I pretty much only play Dominators (and maybe some controllers every now and then) so I know how to play, it's just that I never usually take the AoE immob powers unless I'm using Fire Control so I wasn't sure if it was a good idea or not but it seems to be working out ok.

If you also play Plant Domis then I'd highly recommend the AOE Immob for it as well. It does decent enough damage and AOE Immobs are nice with Confuse powers IMO because the Confused enemies tend to first clump together which makes them ripe to be AOE immobed and then followed up by other AOE powers.
I did think of that for my Plant/Thorns but right now she doesn't have much AoE so I'm waiting until after I get Thorn Burst.
What I like to do (and it has worked rather well so far level 30 now in a duo with a stalker) is once static field is down, I hit chain jolt and then chain fences ( with 2 procs!) by the time they get back up, most of them are back asleep or drained to nil. I find myself not using tesla as much as I should though...

I'd certainly recommend leaving it until the 20s anyway, AOE Immobs have a tendency to get you killed before that.
But with Fling Thorns, Thorn Burst, Creepers, Roots and APP / PPP AOEs you'll become an AOE monster and expert at setting up Patch of Death.

I took the AoE immobilize on my EC/elec, but it is not my opening salvo. I use it more for, oh damage woke? oh no you don't leave the end drain patch! And chain fences also does some drain and damage which in turn is fueled by musculature.

Yeah, about that elec single target hold? I dont use it. Ever. It is a waste of an attack that can be better used to do something else more useful.
I must admit immediately, I am IOd out to the gills and back. I also play a very upfront and melee sort of game. However, I just _do not use_ that hold. Since everything else going on around me is either deflecting damage, causing damage, or nuking end, I just attack with what makes that even better. My attack chain is, at +2/8, this:
drain psy, chain fences, sleet, chain fences, ice storm, chain fences, psywave, chain fences, mindprobe, chain fences, tk thrust.
You will note immediately something very common in my attack thread.... I have the rare damage causing interface, which generates insane damage from fences given the recharge it has and number of targets it affects. When others would use holds on bosses, I would just dish out high damage single target attacks. I use my rare ion only on random occasions when I remember I have it or am bored.
The confuse is mighty strong power, but unfortunately, does not work fast enough to make a notable difference in survival, even when slotted with contagious confusion. Best bet is to walk in, zot something with some flavor of pbaoe, wait a second, and start laying down chaos. In elec/elec, you might want to pop confuse with CC (if you have it slotted) immediately after your first chain fences. That deflects the rest of the fights damage and allows you to mind-numbingly kill the spawn off.
For those that are not elec/psy, please note that you can replace drain psy with something more stunningish, and fill in the attacks later with something from your secondary.
But for sure, don't lead off with fences!!
edit: I hardly use my aoe hold, never use the sleep patch, never use the single target hold, and barely use the confuse. The confuse comes out when the mobs are just too hard to handle, and thats about it. I also _never_ use the gremlins. Or even my stupid lore pets. But at least the lore pets come out during trials, or during the last fight of a TF. Same cant be said of the gremlins.
Hell. Other than the aura and fences, I dont think I really use anything from the primary anymore...

I recently got my Electric/Electric Dom to level 35 and, at first, I was going to get Thunder Strike simply because it's an extra attack and I don't care about knockback that much. Then whilst going from 33 to 35 I started to get very frustrated that things, particular ones that my Gremlins are fighting, were running away half way through the map, dragging my Gremlins through countless mobs so I thought I'd get Chain Fences instead.
So I hit level 35 and picked Chain Fences but, as usual for me with Dominators and AoE immobilise, I'm very unsatisfied with how it's working out. It seems like they're attacking me more now that they've been stopped from moving.
So basically, I'm asking if I should use a freespec to get an extra attack, stick it out with Chain Fences, or go for something else entirely. Right now I have every power in my primary and secondary apart from Electric Fence, Zapp and Thunder Strike. My power pools include Hasten (obviously), Super Speed, Combat Jumping, Aid Other and Aid Self.
