Alignment Effects

I started out as a hero on my controller of course before Rogue came out. After Rogue was released to went from Hero to Vigilante, to full blown villain and now I am a rogue.

I wanted to bring my controller back over to the hero side completely, but before I became a villain I was working on a story arc from Harvey Maylor. I stopped the arc at the demon farming mission so I could farm hero side.

If I bring my controller back to the hero side will I be able to start Harvey's Arc again and get my demon farming mission back?

As long as you weren't holding it because the devs nerfed the mission and made the current version no longer farmable, yes, your missions and arcs will still be there when you come back. In fact, having open arcs on your previous alignment counts toward your total arcs, which may cause you problems if you start too many arcs on both sides without finishing any of them.

I'm not sure I read that right. What I am gathering is that the demon farm was nerfed so even if I had the old mission active or I redid the arc and got the new one; either way demon farming is no longer possible at all?

In short, yes.

Yes, the developers have modified various missions that they felt were exploitable. It is possible that the Demon farm you remember has been changed.

The developers policy is that they do not talk about such changes or modifications to the game. There are no changes noted to Harvey Maylor's arc on either the CityofHeroes.com patch notes or at Paragon Wiki: http://tinyurl.com/Harvey-search http://tinyurl.com/Harvey-search-2

Also: please do not use the term nerf when addressing a rebalance, the fixing of an exploit, or the elimination of a bug.

Is that the one where it's like "defeat all dudes" with demons? If so, that's still in Harvey's arc. It's not listed on the wiki as having a timer, but that may be an oversight. (A lot of farm missions got timers.)

I seem to remember them lowering rewards for the most commonly farmed critters also; high level Freakshow, Council World guys, high level Family...not sure if demons were included in that, and I am not strong with the wiki-fu today and can't find the patch note that indicates the drop.

Yeah it's basically the defeat all mission. I'm probably going to try and find someone who actively farmed that mission to let me know if any changes have been made that they notice.

I'm pretty sure Posi did ages ago in regards to when something got changed and it was being exploited.

Considering what happened to /regen, I think that qualifies as a nerf. When a set has been so adjusted it's the least appealing for high end builds and it's the only set that doesn't have resistance to debuffs for what it does, yeah, that's a nerf. Actually, a nerf done repeatedly. Like nerfing for the sheer sake of nerfing until you have nerfed it so much there simply isn't anything left to nerf. If you did nerf it anymore then you would feel bad about nerfing it so much that you would have to stop nerfing it and you wouldn't want to nerf it that bad because then you would have to buff it when you could have not done so much nerfing in the first place.

So, you mean they nerfed it.

Some fixes are nerfs. Some are not.

Kay...well this thread is obviously going to be about game politics and the criteria behind the phrase "nerf" hence forth. So, thanks to the people who helped me.

Have a fun day!

Damn, I think you might owe Hasbro money after that post. That or they owe you money for promoting Nerf for them.

When you go back to hero side, any arcs you had open will still be there at the beginning of the mission you were last on. If the missions automatically chained without calling the contact, you will be sent back to the first mission in the chain. I'm fairly certain that that mission is part of such a chain, so you may be sent back to the mission before it, rather than going straight into the demon farm.

I can also confirm this. While there have been numerous reports over the last few months that the mission has been nerfed, or even removed from the arc, they are untrue. The mission is unchanged, and can still be obtained by new characters (or even by Flashback).

Unless it's been changed in the last couple weeks, the mission should be exactly as you remember it.

I just ran that mission a little while ago, and there was no timer.
