Did you get the 2 merits? Sounds more like you got too close to a drone or the market.

No, I don't appear to have gotten the merits.
I don't think there are any drone near where I was standing.

Scrapyard can and does despawn on his own after X amount of time.

This has happened to me on more than one occasion. I'll be happily tanking him and then he just despawns. PITA when trying to solo him.

I got my new -rech incarnate power and wanted to test it, so I started hassling enraged miners till Scrapyard appeared. Then I started attacking him and then he just keeled over and "died" and the miners scattered.
