Radius Increase IOs
Based on your reg date I'm surprised you don't remember that Cone Enhancements actually existed in-game until Issue 5. Range enhancements now have the same effect on Cone powers, but not AoEs.

Anyways, I agree. There should be a way to enhance the range of aoes. They're already target-capped, so I don't think it would unbalance things.

I didn't really know a whole lot about the game back in i5, but if it existed then, it doesn't seem like a hard thing to implement back into the game. I think players would find it more useful with AoE powers though, particularly with autocasting powers: force bubble, blazing aura, hot feet, sleet, blizzard, etc. However, I think just the AoE in general would be more fun with a radial increase bonus. Or, if they could just make it so range enhancements increase both the range of the power and the radius of the AoE in one enhancement, that would be ideal.
The problem with this is, based on the way range enhancements work in cones I strongly suspect that range enhancement and AoE radius enhancements would be the same thing so allowing for radius enhancements would require them to use the smae enhancement valeus as range enhancements (and for Targeted AoEs would boost both the range and the area).

As for the other part, I was all ready to post saying "No, it wouldn't be balanced to increase the area of powers". But actually considering the target caps....Hmm, it actually doesn't seem that unbalanced now.
I actually suggested, for a new Tanker Inherent to Gauntlet (before they got the -res effect) that they have naturally wider cones and larger AoEs. So while Brute Footstomp is 15ft, Tankers would be 22ft or something. Yeah, they wouldn't do as much damage, but their Shadow Maul would hit the target cap more reliably and their buff Auras would hold better/more aggro and reach the maximum buffage despite foes spread out more. It didn't seem unbalanced to me.
For an enhancement to do it? Eh, it doesn't seem like it'd ruin the game now that I consider it. But it sounds like it'd be difficult to balance. Boosting the area on a small cone like Shadow Maul would get what result? Now apply that same percentage to something like Lightning Rod and Footstomp and it starts feeling less fair.
This could have issues with the visuals as well.
Thinking about Electric Field, Quills, etc. Can the visuals increase based on their ENH value (10' -> 12' -> 15') and what will they look like?
Heh-heh, radius increase + Volcanic Gasses...
Increase Radius + Group Fly
Increase Radius + Team Teleport
Increase Radius + Wormhole
Those are really the only powers I can think of that 'need' it in some way.

Ever had any thoughts on this? An enhancement, similar to range increase, except that it increases the radius that your power effects. Would apply to PBAoE, Targeted AoE, Cones, and powers such as Force Bubble, and additionally, but not limited to, Wormhole.
