welcome to the game.

I just wanted to add, that though the villian side is less populated, there are still a lot of people on.

If you havent taken the ferry and gotten out of fort mercy, it will seem even quieter.

A lot of players leave Port Mercy as soon as they can. Evenn if you dont want to rush, once you are used to the game, you level up very fast and get too high for port merecy.
Many also leave port oakes after a shortest time. Cap is the first villian zone that has players in any number around just doing stuff.

I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.

Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.

So sad to be ending ):

Hmm, if my memory is correct - its been a while - my preferred path that I settled on back then was Atlas to train, train to Skyway, Skyway to the Talos gate, Talos gate to the PI ferry, get sniped in PI, exit PI hospital, swim north, swim north east, head southeast to the west portal building, and down into the courtyard (the race usually ended in portal court).

I don't remember a path that involved getting killed in Steel, although there were multiple ways to get there.

The only reason I can think of dying in Skyway would be getting closer to the IP exit. Perhaps IP > Talos via Striga ferry > PI?

Sorry, just curious.
For the record, Architect Edition is still available in equal or greater quantities to GR in many areas. Mine, for example. AE was readily available to me, but it took me a month of hunting to track down GR.

Hmm, that might make for a fun zone event.

Enough super side kick down in levels, temp travel suppression, and make the trams/ferries work different for folks in the race.

As part of the event I could see some "race banners" big signs that go across the street where the race starts and ends, some "extra spectators" standing along the street, and a special contact to talk to to enter the race.

Contestants get a special icon over their head so we know who actually talked to the contact and entered the race.

When I tried the lowbie run just for kicks during a slow period on a weekend morning, the path I choose was:

- take the Atlas tram to Steel Canyon (south)
- run through Steel to the IP gate on the west wall
- run up the block in IP to the tram and take it to Talos
- run through Talos to the PI Ferry
(This was where I fumbled. I had been flying for so long that I had forgotten the pedestrian path to the docks, ie without resorting to jumping off a cliff. While I was pondering it, a Freak threw a circular saw blade at my back.)

Teams are the number one killer of soloists.

Getting killed by the atlas-steel train saves you the train-hosp leg of the run through Steel.

ED: The KR-pocketD-Talos route might be shorter. Not sure.

Mini-guides: Force Field Defenders, Blasters, Market Self-Defense, Frankenslotting.

So you think you're a hero, huh.
@Boltcutter in game.

Atlas Park > Kings Row > Pocket D > Talos > Peregrine Island is how I'd do it. No long runs, or 'Hospital-Express' legs until the end.

I don't recall if when I did it Pocket D existed. It might have just been the Paragon Dance Party then. Still, I was purposely avoiding cheap tricks with short cuts.

In addition, I thought the point of the exercise was to go from Atlas to Portal Corp without dying as a show of your experience with the game's zone layout and access ramps, along with aggro awareness.

I've done the race both ways: get there without dying, and get there as fast as possible period using only what is (was) available to a level 2 character (which basically meant Sprint, and not much else).

Why not simply go Atlas tram > Talos > Perigrine? That seems much better with the current state of the tram system. Then the "swim around PI to Portal Corp" to avoid sniper aggro along the main drag.

Edit
Ah, you were talking about the old time races before the tram merge. My preferred route in those days was Atlas>Steel>IP tunnel>Talos>PI.

These days, just use the Vanguard base and go direct Atlas --> PI.
