Terminology: Issue 20.5, 21, or 22?

Issue 19.5 Offered the extension of the Alpha slot and some other goodies.

Issue 20 was a BIG issue and contained the first two trials, Incarnate slots 2-5, Sutter, Mortimer, and more.

Issue 20.5 offers costume pieces, auras, and major functionality changes to powers, both incarnate and otherwise. Oh, and another trial.

I'm not certain how I feel about purchasing the new costume pieces with Empys and Astrals. I'd be a lot happier if they could also be purchased with reward merits, or if there was a way to convert reward merits to Astrals or Empys. However, the screenshots LOOK great. Costume pieces are what makes an issue to me.

It's debatable whether or not 19.5 was enough content to constitute it's own issue. If we did that, We'd currently be on issue 21, and expecting issue 22.

However, I think the proposed 'Issue 20.5' contains more than enough content to qualify as its own issue. Call it Issue 21.

One new trial, a few costume pieces locked behind an "Incarnate Store", and one QoL update do not an issue make. i20 was a bit light for my liking initially, I'd say the "20.5" release may actually be enough to put in the level of a more substantial issue in the first place.

Why does it matter what they call it?
This is issue 20.5 and this it shall remain.

I shall love it and hug it and squeeze it and name it George.

"How do you know you are on the side of good?" a Paragon citizen asked him. "How can we even know what is 'good'?"

"The Most High has spoken, even with His own blood," Melancton replied. "Surely we know."

This.

If we call it Issue 21, then people will complain that there's no content for: [insert your preferred playstyle]. It's Issue 20.5.

The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.

Issues are also in accordance with major story and game behavior shifts. This is just an augmentation to Issue 20, to put in aspects that they couldn't put in when they released the Issue (due to time constraints, issues with the Trial, whatever...).

I'm having a hard time calling an issue that doesn't bring a new or revamped zone "big". For me, issue 20 was great but when it comes to size, it was pretty medium.

So no, issue 20.5 is definitely not big enough to be a 21.

The Devs are using this naming convention...

Issue #: Name

And so we have:

  • Issue 19: Alpha Strike
  • Issue 19: Strike Pack
  • Issue 20: Incarnates
  • Issue 20: Incarnates Ascend

Players are using:
  • Issue 19
  • Issue 19.5
  • Issue 20
  • Issue 20.5

The Player nomenclature will come into trouble if there are two interstitial Issues between major Issues. E.g., let's say the Devs release the next Incarnate Trial with a named issue release before Issue 21 and call it: Issue 20: Incarnates Descend

Will we call it Issue 20.6?

Split the difference, and call it "Issue 20.75" The real trouble will be if they release three intermediate upgrades;

Issue 21
Issue 21: Subtitle
Issue 21: Subtitle: The Revenge
Issue 21: Big Darn Patch.

Some players I know still use the term "butt capes" for the widow dresses and "WTFs" for the Weekly Strike Trials. The Devs may not like that we come up with our own slang for things but I'm sure everyone will be able to cope if they release anything that could potentially be called "Issue 20.6" regardless.
