Strike Force Sundays

Every Sunday at 5pm PST/8pm EST I'll be running a different Strike Force, going down the list posted below. Never run a strike force before? No problem! These are meant to be friendly for new players, so if you can follow basic instructions in team chat then you're welcome to join. Every week I will post the results of the strike force run along with screenshots of the team roster, our time, and our victorious team (preferably standing on the dead bodies of our enemies).

It's first come first serve, so as long as you show up on time you should have a spot. If the team is not full when the start time comes around then I will advertise on the global channels Global Villains, Protector Vigilance, and Protector TFs to try and fill the team. I'm also a big fan of "bring what you wanna play", meaning I'll avoid asking for one specific AT or powerset whenever possible (exceptions being characters with holds for Lady Grey or a MM/Defender for Barracuda). These are meant to be fun so you should play whatever sounds fun to you at the time! We've even occasionally gotten "Master of..." badges by going with whatever showed up!

We run the strike forces in order of the minimum level required to join. Below is the full list of the SFs and Trials we will run as well as the level range. (This is a combination of the Strike Force and Trial lists over at ParagonWiki)

We managed to get a full team for the 3rd Villain Respec Trial, but there weren't enough interested in the Mender Silos SF, so I decided to put that one off until the week where we'd normally run into it. Once again I forgot to get a screenshot of the final time, but it was around 25 minutes. I was also pretty lax in taking some action screens, however I did get one bonus outtake shot where Cherry N Winter was facing the wrong way in the group shot at the end. Fun was had by all. Photo Album.

Time: 25:00 ?
Deaths: 0

Coming up next week will be the Lord Recluse Strike Force. I've been waiting for this once since issue 20 came out, since I'm looking forward to seeing how tough the freedom phalanx seems now that we have incarnates running all over the place. There are a whopping 4 guaranteed badges that come with this one: Servant of Recluse, Master of Olympus, Annihilator, and Archvillain. Also we my try for a master run, depending on what people feel like when we form up. So if you want to join, meet up at Recluse next SUNDAY, May 22 at 5pm PST/8pm EST!

This week we attempted a Master run of the Lord Recluse Strike Force, but unfortunately the Kronos Titan had other plans. >.> I'm actually amazed I wasn't the first to die considering the whole time my netgraph looked like this:

Overall it was still a fun run!

Time: 1:06:00? (forgot the screenshot again)
Deaths: 9

According to the List next week will be the Lady Grey Strike Force which awards the Apocalyptic badge. We'll probably attempt a Master run of this as well if the team is up for it. So if you want to fight some interdimensional invaders that aren't praetorian meet up in the Rikti War Zone next Sunday, May 29th at 5pm PST/8pm EST!

Had gobs of fun last night.

And note to self: Never brag about how great your pulls are going before ALL the heroes are individually pulled.

Are you doing the WST every week, or is this list organized in another way? If it's WST runs I would love to join the next one.

Posted

We run them mostly based on the minimum level of the SF. So we start with the level 15+ one and end with the 2 incarnate ones. Sometimes the SF we're running happens to be the WST also, which is a bonus, but otherwise we stick to that order.

Kult runs WST on Mondays. See Last Chance with Kult!

Oh, awesome. Thanks guys.

This week we completed the first ever successful master run in SFS history! Special thanks go to @Stargeek for some excellent tanking (and bringing EoEs for the Hami mission) and @Lillian Victoria for handling the star after I crashed on the first mission. Everyone on the team stepped up and filled their respective roles perfectly and followed the few instructions I gave to the letter which made this run a lot of fun!

(Gabrael Straux crashed and missed out on the group shot )

Next up on the List will be the Barracuda Strike Force, which awards the Arbiter Badge. We'll probably try to do a master run of this as well, especially since the last time we got VERY close to the master badge and that was back when the only Incarnate skill was the Alpha Slot. So if you want to help a fish woman beat up nazis and possibly get a badge in the process, meet up in grandville next Sunday, June 5th at 5pm PST/8pm EST!

Well, to be honest I cheated a bit and bought them on the run with the /AuctionHouse vet command. I spiked EoE prices up to a couple million each there for a bit. When I checked after we finished, the prices had dropped to 25k .

And I'm going to do my darnedest to be there next week if it's a master run. That Barracuda master badge has eluded me for far too long.

Once again the Master of Barracuda Strike Force badge has eluded us. This time I was the one to die, I made the mistake of blinking while fighting Scirocco and that was that. Still, after that we were able to take down Reichsman while mostly ignoring the huge ambush and no one died, so go figure.

Next up on the List is the Mender Silos Strike Force, which is usually very short so we'll also be running the Apex Strike Force. Mender Silos has no badge but the Apex SF awards the Weapon Master badge. I expect we can get them both done in a little over an hour. So if you want to beat up Valkyrie and Battle Maiden in the same day, meet up in Villain ouroboros next Sunday, June 11th at 5pm PST/8pm EST!

The Double Header this week went really well, with a nice quick Silos run and an Apex run that successfully unlocked all the badges earning the master badge for any that didn't have it already!

Deaths: 0

Apex SF
Team Size: 8
Deaths: 39
Time: 36:30

And here's the Link for the photo album. Unfortunately I forgot to take screenshots for most of Apex, so there's only 1 in there.

Next up on the List is the Tin Mage Strike Force which awards the Alpha Struck badge for completing it. Just like Apex it requires you to have your alpha power slotted otherwise you'll level shifted to -4. We'll also be trying for all the master badges on this one, but I won't hold my breath on that midnight dodger one. So if you're not tired of fighting Praetorians yet, meet up in the Rikti War Zone next Sunday, June 19th at 5pm PST/8pm EST!

It took about half an hour to get enough people to start this week, but once we started it was a load of fun. We had a ton of deaths fighting director 11, but after that it was smooth sailing. We even took down the cracked out Bobcat without any deaths!

Deaths: 15

That was the last strike force on the List, so now it's time to start over again! First up is the Tarikoss Strike Force, which awards the Binder of Beasts badge. So bring out your lowbies next Sunday, June 26th at 5pm PST/8pm EST!

I think I'll start bringing my Kinetic/Fire Brute. Try to get some levels under him.

Edit: Also, fighting at range with a Bane Spider is weird.

Yeah, last time I tried to make a bane spider I decided I wanted to go mostly range so it wouldn't feel too similar to my war mace brute. Something about it just never clicked with me though so I ended up deleting him and using the name on my empath.

The short version is, I couldn't survive in melee on a character I built to fight in melee. So I stood back and rotated Toxic Grenade, Surveillance, Web Envelope, and Mace Blast. And occasionally I'd Placate, then jump in for a Shatter.

So, basically a gimpy debuffer when he should have been fighting like a Stalker/debuffer.

He'll get better when I can afford it.

Ok, so I missed last sunday because AT&T decided it would be funny to shut off my internet service before my new service was set up. Also there's still some technical issues with my ISP so I won't be around this sunday either. My plan will be to start up with Tarikoss whenever I get internet access again, until then SFS will be on hold.

Posted

I should have internet access again this friday, so for now I'll plan on running tarikoss this sunday (the 10th) at the usual time. I'll try to post here if it looks like I won't be able to make it.

Posted

Woohoo, I'm back! I just wanted to post confirmation here that I WILL be running Tarikoss SF this sunday at 5pm PST/8pm EST.

Now, it looks like a metric ton of information has been released since I last had internet access, so I have some forum reading to do.

Ahhh, it's good to be back! We had an excellent Tarikoss run as usual and I got to work on my Empath again. I've also realized that completing tarikoss triggers a zombie invasion in one of the villain zones, which explains why last time 2 times I did tarikoss we ended up fighting zombies afterwards.

Next up on the List will be the Silver Mantis Strike Force, which is level 20+ and awards the Air Pirate badge. So if you want to fight Colonel Duray without getting hit by an air strike and a bunch of praetorian wackiness, meet up in Sharkhead next Sunday, July 17th at 5pm PST/8pm EST!

Gracious, that costume IS really glowy! O.o

I was on Rhys Alexander, my only male toon. He's the little green and yellow guy next to Tarikoss. He's a shrimp...

SFS cancelled this week due to lack of interest. We'll try it again next sunday.

Kinda slow this week, but at least people showed up this time! Also I didn't take very many action screenshots because I kept forgetting.

Next up on the List is the Mortimer Kal Strike Force, which awards the Promethean Badge as well as the Flames of Prometheus temp power (+MaxHP, +Regen, +DMG) which lasts until you're level 50, at which point you can claim a Notice of the Well. So if you want to trap Positron's girlfriend in a crystal and then go beat him up, meet in sharkhead next Sunday, July 31st at 5pm PDT/8pm EDT!

Took a while to get a team together this week, but once we did everything ran smoothly!

Next week on the List is the First Respec Trial, which awards the Thorn Robber, Thorn Thief, or Thorn Usurper badges, depending on how many you've run before. This is a pretty fast SF, so if the team is up for it we'll also run the second respec trial and maybe the third as well! So meet up in Nerva next Sunday, August 7th at 5pm PDT/8pm EDT!

So there was some discussion this past week of running a special SFS during the weekend of Laylapalooza. Something like an attempted master run of Barracuda SF and a costume contest. I decided I want to make this a villainous costume contest though, so I'm thinking that all the participants of the MOcuda run will be entered (except me of course).

  • The winner will get 100mil inf.
  • There will be no 2nd or 3rd place, just 1 winner and 6 losers in a survival of the fittest style contest.
  • Instead of a specific theme I was thinking of coming up with a long list of arbitrary and conflicting rules, and the costume that breaks the most rules wins.
  • Also since this is a villanous contest, I will of course accept bribes and/or flattery to influence the final decision. (All bribes will be added to the reward, so it's sort of a gamble)
Does this sound interesting at all? If so, I'm open to suggestions for some of the rules for costume design.
