Foaming at the mouth right now....

Have you ever had an SG member do something so amazingly, unbelievably stupid and thoughtless, with a few clicks of a few buttons, after you had repeatedly asked them to NOT TOUCH THE BASE years ago (and had assumed they had gotten the message since they hadn't touched the base in years), that you are now looking at hours of work in order to fix it? Is kicking every single one of this person's alts and putting them on global ignore overreacting?

In case you're wondering what they did, they deleted a room. It was an empty chokepoint that currently leads to nowhere but is going to lead to somewhere. Needless to say, there is a ton of crap blocking the door, including "stairs" embedded in the floor.

Yes... typical emotional response.

I've had that done a number of times, so now base editing on falls under the Directorship heading.

I would not be happy... makes me glad that my sg/vg members were never big on building (and most of my core members have their own bases to build in as well).

The only thing they touch are their own rooms, and barely at that, lol.

Anything they wrecked can be remade. Don't get too angry about it. However, I would take away base editing rights from them.

If it were possible to demote offline SG members, I'd certainly demote all their alts to the point of being unable to modify the base. Since offline promotion/demotion isn't possible, I might (depending on other factors of the relationship) kick them all in order to floor said permissions, if they want to rejoin.

I myself have a lot of time and emotional energy invested in two large SG bases. In as much as several of us have the permissions to change things, they all have the courtesy to talk to me about any changes, since 90%+ of the work has been done by me, and any serious mistakes would probably be handled by me. Having someone nonchalantly delete a room, even an apparently useless one, simply doesn't happen - they ask me why it's there, I tell them, we move on.

Where to find me after the end:
The Secret World - Arcadia - Shinzo
Rift - Faeblight - Bloodspeaker
LotRO - Gladden - Aranelion
STO - Holodeck - @Captain_Thiraas

Obviously, I don't care about NCSoft's forum rules, now.

This is why I think they need to let us save some kind of blue print of the items. Have it apply to all non-crafted or non-personal items so you can easily restore the base incase someone screws it up. I am just glad the other person I share the base with has no idea how to use the interface otherwise I would be raging right now too.

I did immediately limit base-editing permission to Super Leader only, since my base editing character has been Super Leader since i18 and I've just been too lazy to hand the title back to my main. Now I guess I have a rationale for my laziness.

This is one of the main reasons for trying to get personal rooms. Many people want to tinker with Base editing but they need to start small, in a controlled environment.

An idea that I had was to give players private quarters (which they want) with editing permissions (so they can play) in a Base Pack (so the bosses see some financial gain). Since the Devs seem to want an Inf sink, decorate with Inf instead of Prestige. Allow players to buy personal storage (another popular request) for added security.

This.

It would be awesome if we could save a room like we save costumes, and then we just pull up the list, click the room and place it.

The only issue I would see with this is the items against walls blocking doorways and making hte rooms unable to place.

Personally, I try to only have hanging items on walls so I can easily replace them as needed. All other items...including floors and such, I build slightly away from the walls so I can easily move the rooms.

While i'm the only one who can edit my vg base, even that's sometimes no protection. For the 3rd time in the last week, an "apply style to base" happened. The first time it happened, i assumed that i simply misclicked, but fairly certain that wasn't the case now. Just sort of happened when i entered the editor this last time, changing the entire base to the style of the most recently added room. Rather a pain to correct.

A restore or undo ability is definitely needed. (And why is there no confirmation needed for those base-wide changes?)

Sent mail but realized you might not see it. Usually, I just browse forums without ever logging in. When you say, "there is a ton of crap blocking the door, including "stairs" embedded in the floor", is it completely unusable now? If so, consider a petition.

Anyway.. lazy copy/paste of mail below.

"Read your post. Sorry to hear. This is a longshot suggestion but.. twice when my base was borked beyond belief, I sent a petition and provided approximate time for said bork. NC was nice enough to .. I forget the exact wording.. "revert or roll back to a time before the event occurred".

The first time this happened, they asked me to advise all SG mates to vacate the base in advance. No one reads message of the day so I asked NC to please do this "rollback" during maintenance hours. They did and all was fixed.

That situation may have been different so no guarantees. Wish you the best of luck."
