Also, you are WRONG. Plenty of people volunteer to help others with all sorts of activities. I see it all the time. (I also do it a lot.)

I've been wondering when Eden would pop up as a WTF, and if anything would be done as a result of this very issue. I guess we'll soon see.
I foresee much begging in channels for 39-41's to start trials because most will want to do this with their 50+'s.
Or the Devs could surprise us and actually fix a bug that has needed fixing for... how long? If not I'll be skipping that week because I don't want to be one of those standing in line for hours waiting for a team that happens to have a leader in the correct range.

Closest character (heroside) : 2, one a Mind/Therm controller (35,) one that I have to fix a listing of (fire/dark, shows as a fire/EM.) (35)
Yep. If they fix it so anyone higher can start it, it'll help.

Wanted: Origin centric story arcs.
If you've only played an AT once (one set combo) and "hate" it - don't give up. Roll a different combo. It may just be those sets not clicking for you.
I think I'll PL a toon up to that range this week and lock it and offer it to my server for starting Eden Trial runs, just because of this thread.

I made a Kin on my second account whose only job is to stand at the top of the Expert Course in the Chalet spamming Inertial Reduction while I'm afk so that folks can get the badges. Some others have joined me.

I must agree with other comments that, once you have your team recruited, it's fairly to recruit someone in the appropriate range.
Alternatively, you might want to try arranging for a friend that is in the appropriate range. That way you're ready to go when you've your team together.
Perhaps arrange a signup in the forums, with a request that someone is in the correct range.
Aside from that, perhaps not worthwhile to stress over missing a single WST.
