Biggest Troll on the forums? I'll give you a hint:
Thanks Krag, great post. I whole-heartedly agree that ideas/suggestions aka constructive criticisms make all the difference in the world. I've changed my BAF playstyle quite a bit since I started that thread, and while I am still not always completely satisfied with the process of off-tanking due to sequestration (I usually die at least once per BAF now due to being sequestered out of the AoE zone for buffs, yet having kept AV aggro so they pwnz my shaggy hide) the end result of league victory is all that really matters. Over the years I've called several other servers home (Infinity, Champion, Liberty, Freedom, Justice) but Guardian has always called me back. Great peeps, great fun! Tank you all!
Uh, i prefer the term guardanian.

Text is a lousy medium in which to communicate. You lose tone, body language and intent. (I've got a VERY dry sense of humour which can be difficult to convey in text. My low tolerance of idiocy is very easy to convey however. )
I'd agree Guardian is a pretty friendly server - yes there are idiots here but that's why I use gignore and notes. Unfortunately, the new Raids can make it harder to avoid the complete muppets but at least there's usually something else to do.
Hey BB, I've not seen any of your pet-peeves ... I could do some of them if you like ..

Tanks for the memories! \o/
My pet peeve is people who refuse to acknowledge it when I tell them my character has unlimited power. If I rp attack them they are of course disintegrated beyond the ability of any hospital or magic to restore. Yet despite this they refuse to delete their characters and still keep playing them as if nothing happened. ~Mandu, 07-16-2010
I agree with Capa (as I usually do) But then she and I are a lot alike in many ways. Capa is correct in stating that text is a supremely lousy medium to convey the finer points of communication. Too much is lost not being able to see body language, facial expressions, or hear tone of voice.
I usually understand when Capa is employing her 'dry sense of humor' because I also have a dry sense of humor and am usually inherently sarcastic in my comments/replies, so I kind of read her comments with that 'tone of voice' in my head. And I understand not all people read text that way.
But, on the whole, Guardian is a very nice place to live. I have many toons on other servers, but Guardian is the only one I've bought additional slots for (only have 4 left to claim). It's the only server my wife and I have both hero and villian bases on, and ALL of the people on our global friends list come from Guardian.
Actually, I have more friends on Guardian than I do in real life.I don't know if I should thank all y'all for being so friendly, or offer my apologies for putting up with my crap for 75 months.

Just a quick note, it is rather obvious that text is not the best communication method which is what makes good etiquette and proper phrasing of posts even more important.

I wholeheartedly concur.

I just wanted to make a post on here saying a couple of things. To start with; I really like the majority of the people I team with often or even occasionally, it seems that most people on this server have a good friendly attitude. There are, of course, those that do not but that happens everywhere. Anyway, Guardian is a small community in itself and I think that it is even more important to keep up the friendly behavior. Thanks everyone for making Guardian a great server to play on, and Im making a note here: HUGE SUCCESS. Had to add that as I went to a Portal 2 party tonight, hahaha!
The only complaint I would have is that it seems the good nature of the Guardian players is not carried over onto the forums as much. I have not played on any server other than Guardian for any length of time, but from what I have heard and read on the forums it seems as though Guardian is one of the friendlier servers. I feel that needs to be represented on the forums as much as it is in game. I am going to use WEI JUNs Sequestration? I don't care. thread as an example. WEI posted his opinion I just thought I'd offer up my opinion and it was met with some criticism and a good bit of bashing. Criticism is alright, but CONSTRUCTIVE criticism is great! The difference being that one is aimed at improving the target of the criticism, I team with the other Guardianites I might be criticizing. I want to help them improve, so they are even better to team with and there will be no hard feelings between us and we can continue to team effectively.
The way I like to offer criticism to others is to first remove the word criticism all together and replace it with idea or suggestion. To begin the suggestion I want the person to take I start with compliments, I am going to use WEIs Sequestration? I don't care. thread as an example again. To him I might say something like this: Hello WEI, I want to start by saying that from my experience you are a very good tank and a great team leader. I have been on your team many times and we have been successful in almost all of our missions. Great job! This puts should put WEI at ease and make him more willing to accept the suggestions I am about to offer. It also prevents him, and others, from countering my suggestion with WEI is a great tank and is almost always successful on his trials! or whatever.
Now for the second stage I will begin telling him, nicely, what my suggestion is. Here I might say something to the effect of The suggestion I will make for you, WEI, is that when you are on your 2nd Sequestration warning you back off the AVs. Here is why: 1) It will enable the rest of the team to continue pounding the AVs with attacks and not have to continuously watch for your warnings, which will make the trials quicker. 2) You will be able to tank more effectively; for example you get sequestered for 10 seconds (or however long) that gives the AV 10 seconds to smash whatever it wants, which will be your teammates. and whatever other points I might wish to make.
Then to end it I will do a recap of the compliment and the suggestion such as; Like I said WEI you are quite a good player, but please do keep my idea of not getting sequestered in mind, thanks and see you in game soon
I guarantee that will go over a lot better than the things that were posted which lead to a lot of back and forth of WEI is a great tank and not if he gets sequestered.
Sorry for the length of this post, but I feel this is a serious topic, because it is not about a game but about people skills which is very important in real life. This kind of attitude will help build relationships at work, with friends, with family, or whatever and therefore should always be practiced. Keep up the good friendly nature fellow Guardianites and lets try to be more suggestive with the things we would like our fellow teammates to improve upon and less demeaning.
Thanks,
Kragothe Valor
