I think the Illusionist badge should still be set at 500 summoned Illusionists like it was before Issue 16.
I think the Zookeeper badge should still be set at 10,000 Rikti Monkeys like it was before Issue 5.
I think the Back from the Future badge should still be set at 1,000 Pillboxes like it was before Issue 16.
I think the Fabricator badge should still be set at 10,000 crafted items like it was before Issue 16.

I earned -all- of these badges back when they were set at their original values.
Minor quibble, but the the Illusionist badge was set to 200 and counted all Illusionists (not just the decoys) before being changed to just decoys and 500 count. Admittedly now that it is set to its current state it is now far easier to get than before Issue 16.

Not in all cases. The Zookeeper change was a direct result of the capped targets in Issue 5. The Fabricator was much easier with base salvage and MUCH easier when brainstorm conversions counted.

I plead the 5th about the Empath badge though.

My quibble about that badge is 50,000 kills.....in AE Test mode. Also wasn't it custom kills and not just standard targets?

A badge like was better for regular AE not test mode.

Badge was any critter. I got mine from council (mostly).

Not all Illusionists counted, one specific Illusionist model was bugged to give credit. It even died like a summoned illusionist, so I think it was the summoned model accidentaly being included in regular.

That one was for just any mobs. There was another series for customs in test mode that capped out at 5000. There was an equivalent series to the one with Virtual Slayer in regular AE mode that never made it live (probably due to complaints led by me during closed beta) that you could call the Stare series. The last badge in that series? 1,000,000 Yard Stare. That's right, 1 million enemies defeated in AE regular mode. I railed against it, finally pointing out that, even at just minions at level 50, it would be equivalent to more than earning Popular at the old 1 billion Inf value all over again, since the Inf earned from defeats in AE didn't count toward that badge.

I had issues with a few of the other serial badges in AE during that beta, but let it go when I saw the solution wasn't going to be adjusting the numbers, but rather wholesale removal of the series.

I think some people are missing the point of Mo runs... it's NOT to make it difficult to get per say... it's to promote working together as a TEAM... which is what you need to do in order to be successful... atleast the new ones are designed like that... the old ones are more or less juggling eggs with boxing gloves on trying not to break them

I agree here.

I just recently did a MoLRSF and got the badge. It took a group of 8 lvl 50 incarnates (or at least 5-6 of us were incarnates) 3 attempts before we actually got the badge.

1st time we got all the way to the final mission and we pulled Numina; while Numina was coming I (the team leader) was trying to talk and say "Synapse is incoming, focus on Numina", Synapse ran up to me and used his "flurry" power which just so conveniently bypasses the "one hit" code and killed me

2nd time while we were all fighting Malaise/Swan/those AVs, one of the brutes died from Swan's psi nuke (maybe another nuke/Valk's AoE or something).

3rd time we finally got it There were no ("real") debuffers, just me (kin/rad def) and the rest scrappers/blasters/brutes/etc....

I surely hope not!

Oh and Lothic, you forgot the one badge that was 'nerfed' that hit the closest home to me.

Isolator.

Oh yes, Positron saying, "nope we'll never add another way beyond hunting them in RV (PvP zone in the tram), if you want the badge get it that way."

By the time I got the badge on EI, "tada, Ouroboros! Now you can get Isolator nice and easy!"

hehe, Not bitter....no....not bitter at all...

Obviously Positron was simply being an "noob Dev" about RV Isolator in the first place. If it wasn't obvious that he was just using his power to pull our collective chains with that one then I don't know what is. There were certain people out there (I was never one of them mind you) who keep whining about getting a post-tutorial Isolator so badly that they literally told Positron they'd be willing to "do anything" to get it. And Positron being the easily tempted Dev he obviously was decided to take the bait, throw sensibility to the wind, and thought it'd be funny to devise the most sadistic way he could think of to "accommodate" the whiners. Thus RV Isolator was born.

The final joke was on him though because there were still plenty of other badges to get in RV at the time so "forcing" players who were collecting badges to spend time in RV really wasn't the "punishment" he hoped it would be. While I was on teams working things like the RV AVs, pillboxes, Toxic Tarantulas (200 at the time) and Mu Guardians we had plenty of time to get the Contaminated spawn when it popped up. Actually now that it's long over I kind of laugh at Positron and his rookie Dev mistake of letting players get him upset enough to do something stupid like this. I think he's learned his lesson in the long run and it's made him better for it. *shrugs*

Heh, just imagine what they may have had in mind for villains that missed the Jailbird badge in the tutorial before they released Ouroborus

Just remember that badges were introduced in Issue 2 long BEFORE CoV went live but long AFTER CoH started.
Villains never had an excuse for missing Jailbird the same way pre-I2 heroes had for never even having a chance for Isolator.

Yeah I'm really not upset/bitter about it to be honest. You are right in saying that it did give me something to do in RV as well as the turrets/heavy badges and what not. It was 'annoying' to log in every hour on the hour and hope that you get the kill on the contaminated but...*shrugs*

It was just one (if not the only) badge that I just finished getting and then like 1 week (2-3 weeks?) later we find out about Ouroboros and getting that badge a whole lot easier

Same thing happened to me as well. I logged in every couple of hours to kill the single Contaminated and eventually got "Isolator" on my pre-i2 main badger after about a month of camping. Two weeks later they announced the "Flashback" system. D'oh!

That wasn't the only time that happened. I decided to grind out "Back to the Future" (defeat 1,000 pillboxes) and Fabricator (10,000 crafts) on both my hero and villain badgers. After several months of grinding, I finally got them on both badgers.

A few months later, the i16 badge changes were announced. D'oh!

Mind you, I'm not complaining. If not for the i16 changes, I would've never gotten Empath, as well as a few other epic badges, on both badgers. That's just the nature of the game. Sometimes things change.

Yeah...I'm trying to remember if I did all that grinding for the RV pillboxes or not...I don't remember for either of those badges...*shrugs* I don't mind changes like that to shorten the 'absurdity' of badges.

Badges are badges are badges. I got most of them on my main before they were nerfed but after ED and before IOs. Having said that, "nerfing" badges is not important. I know when I got mine... I know how effing agitating, irritating, and satisfying it was, I really don't give a rip what anyone else says about them. Plus, now I can be crotchety and start most of my sentences with "well, back in my day..." up-hill-both-ways-bare-foot kinda crap which is funny to me.

Added bonus, brings more people into badging with decreasing the requirements which, in my opinion, is always a good thing. It's all about the community and exclusion leads to death. Elitism is for the weak.
