Defeat 10 (insert foe here) in (insert neighborhood here)

I just ran a Defeat 10 Fir Bolg in Salamanca from the first mish in the Gordon Bower Contact. Ever since I've been playing this game for almost 3 years now, this has always been an issue and it seems much more prevalent in Croatoa than in any other zones. When given a "Defeat 10 or whatever number" in a particular neighborhood, it seems that even though you might be in that neighborhood, Salamanca, The Broken Teeth, The Misty Wood to name a few, sometimes your kill doesn't count as if you killed your foe outside that zone even though you know that you were 100% sure to be in that neighborhood.

I mention Croatoa because they have so many neighborhoods that cross each other and as I mentioned above, this is much more prevalent here that I'm aware of than in any other neighborhood or zones. My head starts to hurt when I try to figure out why I didn't get credit for that last kill in the right proper neighborhood? Did the foe just travel from another neighborhood and wander in my neighborhood so thus, because they were not "established" long enough in that neighborhood, if I attempt to kill them I will not get the kill credit? Do the foes need to spawn in that neighborhood in order to get credit for the kill? I have absolutely no idea so thus, I hope someone out there in CoH land knows why this happens?

The neighborhood boundaries are marked on your map. Additionally, there will be a system announcement when you enter a neighborhood. You have to kill them in that neighborhood they're supposed to be killed in.

You often find what your looking for on the borders of neighborhoods. And if they're not actually in the neighborhood, pull them in.

What Zombie Said. I've always had to pull Red Caps that were just inside the neighboring zone where they spawn into the zone I'm supposed to defeat them in.

At least the number you have to find is relatively small.

Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.

I would think that you really did defeat them in the wrong neighborhood. Where they may have spawned has no bearing on it - only where they are defeated. As others have said, pull them to where you need them. That works just fine.

P.S. I often get the impression that the mobs know where the border is and what you're doing there. I can scour the neighborhood and find none, but see a half dozen just on the other side of the border.

And for Croatoa especially, those boundaries *are wrong.* I've done precisely what the OP said, had it announced I was in the Misty Wood, looked like I was in the boundaries - and had them not count, without it telling me I was in the "wrong" neighborhood.

(I tend to take Misty Wood hunts out to one of the islands now. Only way to be sure.)

Something interesting to note about Croatoa that I've seen over many alts doing it's content.

The "neighborhoods" area that you see outlined on the minimap aren't touching each other, so while you might be in Area "A" you might step into a NON-AREA before seeing the message that you have crossed into Area "B". If you kill a foe while in this in between area you don't get kill credit because you aren't in Area "A" any longer even though you haven't seen the message that you entered a new area.

To put it another way, the game only tells you when you've entered a new area not when you've left an area.

/\ this is exactly what I mean. When you get the music and fade-in text on your screen saying you're now in such and such neighborhood and then you plop "straight" down on the ground (not cruise 10ft. or 50ft more but straight down) and start your "Defeat so many so and so's" and don't get the kill credit, then somethings amiss. I guess I am kinda glad that others have observed this and I wasn't loosing my mind. If they wanted to fix this, then instead of it being "Defeat 20 Red Caps in The Broken Teeth" it could just be "Defeat 20 Red Caps". As long as you are in Croatoa. I think there a lot of mish'es outside of Croatoa that embrace this philosophy because of the mash of neighborhoods in various zones and the contact will normally tell you the best place or neighborhood to find these foes.

It doesn't matter in which neighborhood you were at the moment of a kill.
Enemy itself should be in correct neighborhood to count as a kill.

Is this with a ranged attack? It's not what zone *you* are in, it's what zone the mob is when it falls.

Just like in some cities, I think one neighborhood bought the air rights from the adjacent neighborhood so they would be allowed to have taller trees. So the zone boundaries are different between ground level and up in the air.
