Weird West is one that I've been looking forward to.

We sat down this week and got the themes worked out for the pretty much the rest of this year. We still have a few holes though and we always welcome ideas.

If you have an idea for a costume and trivia contest theme, just contact one of the Hero Dawn leaders or post in this thread.

I was a little miffed at a couple of the trivia questions

1) Ghost Rider's old west counterpart was Ghost Rider (1967), it wasn't until the new Ghost Rider appeared in the 1970s that they changed his name to Phantom Rider

2) Steve Jackson Games does not own GURPS Deadlands anymore than they own GURPS Vampire or GURPS Werewolf, they licensed it from Pinnacle Entertainment Group, the owners of the trademark Deadlands.

not saying I would have been fast enough on the draw to have won those particular questions...

I've noticed that their trivia contests often have an incorrect question or two, although I think it's sometimes due to the way they word it. The glaring example I remember was from the military night when they asked what the highest military rank is "at this time". Their "correct answer" was 5-star General, which is ridiculous as that rank hasn't been active since WWII. While 5-star is the highest active rank ever, no one holds that rank "at this time".

So take their trivia contests with a grain of salt, it's not like it's Jeopardy.

always good to hear comments

1) actuall phantom rider was the ghost rider but when johnny blaze ghosr rider came to be the name was changed. here's the proof
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phantom_Rider
now due to me being a comic geek i respect the name change and refer to himas phantom rider so there is seperation between the two personal storylines

2) ok on gurps question they are published by steve jackson game. now lawyers (damn them) would argue due to their publishing rights they can legally say they have some ownership.

3) as for 5 star general this is the direct quoting i saw

US five-star ranks
Fleet admiral (held by 4 officers)
General of the army (held by 5 officers)
General of the Air Force (held by one officer)

Nine Americans have been promoted to five-star rank, one of them in two services. As part of the bicentennial celebration, George Washington was permanently made superior to any other five-star general/admiral with the title general of the armies effective on July 4, 1976.

source wikipedia under 5 star general

now if this is erroneous i apologize but was going off a few sources found on the internet.

Phantom Rider never had his own book (under Marvel), Ghost Rider did:

I am impressed with the knowledge you have.

had to hunt this version down.

i'm not above admitting to being corrected when shown like you did. Anyone who knows me knows that.

i was going for the marvel version due to the theme as you can see. So iI give kudos to you

On a side note.

We run the Trivia during the CC to help pass the time while the CC is under way. This gives you all something to do while we are looking you over and picking our CC votes for the night. 2nd it's another way for us to make sure more players walk away with a reward for the night, not everyone is gonna win the CC.

Please remember our Trivia question asker is also taking time every week to write them up and research them, and has been doing so for almost a year stright. So in some cases its the answers he/she is looking for, not always the "Book Answer" and once in a while we might be a little off, but this is for fun and not a real test of your skills.

Thxs for the feedback, we will try to keep a eye on the Trivia questions and answers for the up coming events, but no promises they we all be a 100% on the mark.

(Walks in with blue shirt and khaki pants)

Remember be at the Portal Corp. building in Peregrine Island 10 pm Sunday for "And now, a word from our sponsors" theme of corporate mascots.

If you do within a specific time period you could get trial size of "Goatout". It cleans, santize, cuts, juliands and buffs your car to a high shine. Remember if you need the problem out, then Goat it out.

(Looks at ad script)

Think we should have stuck with the Doomie Bear.

There's only one more day until our corporate mascot themed costume contest.

This week's theme was a suggestion from the community and I think it should be a lot of fun.

I would also like to point out that "Goatout" is intended for external use only.
