--PvP Workshops--

So after our first matches I know everyone is eager to play again, but tonight we are going to run some workshops to focus on fine tuning our teams.

We will be running the following:

Blaster workshop- covering locking, spiking, evading, and attack chains.

Dom workshop- covering TK (I think we are down to just mind/xxx doms now), attack chains and mez suppression.

Stalker workshop- locking, closing, timing of attacks and attack chains.

Empath/Pain workshop- buffing, healing, evasion routes and survival.

If we have time after the workshops I like to run some more scrimmages and practice team locks and spikes.

Hope to see you all tonight!

Good news bad news...

The good news is that i no longer need to be at work before the sun rises! but... here's the caveat im starting later and getting done with work much later as well (Starting at 2:30pm and have been leaving work between 1:30-3:30am all week).

Until the madness ends (schedule wise) I will not be able to make it to boot camp. Which sucks.

I guess the silver lining is... hmm...actually i don't see a silver lining.

Currently Playing:

A bunch of toons! (Freedom, Virtue, and a few on Infinity)

That really sucks Epoxy. You are welcome to rejoin us if/when you can.

I hope you will continue to pvp if not in this event then in any future ones or even zones on Freedom. I think you understand the basics and have a good foundation and are a good pvp blaster.

I think I can speak for the rest of the mentors when I say that your attitude, helpfulness and motivation was appreciated by us all.

Remember nothing this Friday- we are taking a break for the 4th of July.

Bug and MP are running a lvl 5 pvp event on Sunday.

Have a safe 4th and don't blow off any appendages.

I can appreciate what you guys are doing over here, but I read this and just cracked up at how corny it sounded in my head.

Being positive and supportive is bad how?

Giving a disclaimer first doesn't make it any less trollish

It's the same as saying something bad and putting a smile at the end to make it all right.

People don't like to come to meetings where there are no matches I was trying to give positive reinforcement to assure future attendance and would appreciate you not giving it a negative connotation of me treating them like children.

You're reading into it way too much. I said it sounded corny in my head, hence why it was funny to me.

Saying that I appreciate what you are doing is the disclaimer that it isn't trollish or passive aggressive. You need to try actually reading before you jump to the defensive. You have a real nasty habit of doing that.

I am defensive of this thread and here is why:

One of the biggest barriers to new people entering PvP is the trash talk in broad cast and the PvP threads are aggressive, trollish, and sometimes just downright abusive in language. One of the things Masque did was to create and environment free of this to basically eliminate this barrier. I try to keep it out of this thread as much as possible. Normally I would just have a mod erase a negative post, I have already done this several times. I choose to reply to yours instead because your posts are intelligent and reasonable.

Now was what you said bad, no, did it need to be said, no. I said that that post served a purpose it wasn't me just being carebear, and that I would appreciate you not diminishing that purpose. That put you on the defensive. So I am now saying to you there is a reason I try to keep this thread positive, and have stated that reason. It is my hope people who want to learn PvP will look to this thread and only see positive things. Yes they will run into the **** talk eventually but by then they will have a basic understanding of PvP and that will no longer be a barrier.

You could have just said I can appreciate what you guys are doing here and left at that.

Poking fun, ribbing, and messing with people exists far outside of the realm of competitive gameplay or competition in general.

Just have a mod delete the post then, I'm not worried about it. But people that are not in possession of some thick skin are not going to make it in PvP. That's not me being a jerk, that's fact. Losing in competition alone can be misconstrued as some form of "epic-trollery".

I've said nothing but "Good game, well played" to many people after a match and received nothing but vitriol.

I think anyone with half a brain could see that I was joking with you, not trolling you. But yes, I can see why attempting to have humorous discourse with anyone on this game's boards would be an erroneous decision on my part. Won't make that mistake with you again, that's for sure.

No stranger to trash talk here, but the reality of the situation is you came in here to make fun. You're acting as though you came in here to give props or make light of a serious situation. So don't act all high and mighty or defensive.. You've nothing to be defensive about. Maybe the fact that people didn't laugh just means your jokes aren't funny.

For the record, I thought it was supportive, cute, and funny. I truly did not think it was mean spirited or trollery. Then again, I don't know Vindizzle, but I appreciate anyone who wants to give props and I will take him at his word that it was genuine.

More on topic.... I hope that everyone has a safe and fun 4th of July! I am not sure if I will be at the next match (7/8), so if I am not, I wish all teams happy pew pewing!

Lastly, you guys are all awesome and I personally thank you for all the hard work you've done. It's not easy to learn something new and everyone should be proud of themselves.

I also thought it was just a joke post. I got a laugh out of it and wasn't harmed in any way, nor did I think it was like the trollery seen in the PvP thread. Again in my personal opinion and not to be mean, Philly's post sounded trollish to me. Trying to avoid trolling by calling someone a troll isn't going to work. It is like the way little kids fight "You did it!" "No you did it!" repeat, /em tantrum.

But on topic :

I too won't be around for next match (7/8).

Best way to deal with this: keep dragging up the issue.

As far as next matches, I definitely won't be going away as I had been planning, since my dad is in the hospital. I'm not sure if I will actually be around for City though.

Hi Vinnie! Long time man!

If that is the Vinnie from Velocity, he has been known to talk smack in the past and I have seen it/experienced it first hand. With that in mind and knowing him from back in the day, he seemed pretty chill about his post.

Vinnie, you should come over on Fridays when they start doing boot camp again after the holidays. Masque and folks could always use older pvper tactics and advise.
