Incarnates and power level arms race

I just hope they avoid applying the law of conservation of ninjutsu to the Incarnate game.

This is part of my problem. Large orange numbers and purple names don't do it for me. In fact, once the orange numbers get large enough, the game actually becomes boring, as is the case with Ramiel's first mission.

And while I'll agree that taking down a giant robot does feel impressive, to me it feels more impressive when I take one down by myself, rather than when I take half a dozen down with another seven people.

What I want to see I a villain arc which TRIGGERS a giant robot in Paragon and something to the opposite from Paragon to Rogue Isles. Villain releasing a giant robot on the city is just so perfect, giving you the chance to "ruin some hero's day".

It would also be nice is event required participation somehow. Maybe contacts won't give out missions/TFs if there is a giant robot in rampaging through the city. That would make spawning a GM require a certain number of players online (and it would have to happen a lot less frequently than those pesky Rikti). I dislike seeing an Alien invasion fail due to apathy. :-D

Incarnates get the best of pirates v. ninjas.

In the trials, players are a Pirate Hoard, unstoppable;

Outside the trials, players are an all powerful Ninja!

This isn't just words, it's true. In the trials, the characters band together to lay waste to Praetoria. Even the Well fueled Tyrant and his Lts. cannot stop the Incarnates. The Incarnates, like a power hoard, pillage and loot and come away more powerful than ever.

Outside of the trials, the characters, fueled with the powers gained by their pillage, are like a Ninja. They can defeat formerly fearsome enemies before those enemies even know what's happening. A single Incarnate, like a Ninja, is like an Army unto herself.

That's how I see it. And that's how it is, if people would take a second and actually play the content.


The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.

But that would allow villains to be proactive in their villainy instead of doing what they're told to maintain the status quo and dropping everything to go help those pesky heroes save the world again so they can pursue their evil - oh wait, my evil schemes will have to wait, the heroes need my help again.

And this is where you lose me. Requiring participation in a GM hunt alienates players who dislike GM hunts. Make a few different GMs for villains to choose from,* award a badge for defeating all of them, each of them awards the standard 2 merits of course, giving players incentive to participate but not requiring it.

Well, before fighting Galactus, it would be nice to be at the level of Thor or the Hulk. Which is what the incarnate system was supposed to do to our characters.

The way it looks now, is like having a team up of Spiderman, Iron Fist and other heroes of that power-level, uniting against a suddenly overpowered Dr Octopus. Compare that now with something like the Infinity Gauntlet.

See the difference now?

Except Cole isn't the equivalent of a "suddenly overpowered Doc Ock". At his base level he's presented as the heaviest hitter on his planet, and his crew (like their primal counterparts) has been consistently presented as a Justice League/Avengers analogue.

By the way, Spidey was involved in the fight against Thanos in the Infinity Gauntlet....he's even on the cover of the TPB

That's strange. Most if not all betatesters, including those who love the I20 trial seem to disagree with you, seeing as they report failing the trial. Doesn't seem so unstoppable to me.

As with every new challenge in the game. We fail it a few times, figure it out, then crush it. And by failing these trials, we also have the benefit of gaining power, so its not just a matter of learning a strategy. EG is right here...my level shifted crab is an absolute *monster* when running tips now.

I was obviously talking about bobcat, Neuron and their friends...

I haven't fought Cole yet. Have you? And being the "heaviest hitter on his planet" doesn't really mean anything...

By the way, in the context of a multiverse sized threat, how epic would a team composed of only spiderman equivalents be? Yeah, spiderman on the cover of the TPB was pure marketing. And don't get me wrong, I love spiderman too...

What beta testers?

The ones who beat it the first day of the sneak peek? Or the ones who gave up after not being able to steamroll like every other piece of easymode content.
