Apocalypse proc in Lightning Storm

Thanks all for so much good info. Thanks Donna for asking questions I wish I had thought of.

If anyone wants to post their optimal, anything goes, 6 slot for Lightning Storm on a Defense and Recharge oriented Stormie I would appreciate ideas.

At present I am thinking 5 x Apocalypse with one being the proc. as the only purple set, and the 6th being a Thunderstrike Damage/Endurance. Spiritual Radial Paragon takes care of recharge (23.22 sec.)

My experience is that the AI that runs the Lightning Storm doesn't aggro against things outside of the power's default range, so range slotting is useless. At least, I 5-slotted Lightning Storm with Damage/Range HOs way back in like i3, hoping I'd get a pet nuke-sniper out of it, but it didn't seem to shoot any farther at all. I guess it might help it shoot runners that have already aggro'd it, though.

Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.

Did you try moving forward yourself and acting as a spotter for it? It's been a while but this seemed to be how it worked for me, if I moved forward a bit it could see what I could and shoot at them.

Hmmm, makes me vaguely recall something I saw in a guide (I think by The Mighty Storm) that the "range" was actually some weird triangulation of the total between you, the cloud and your (its) target, but it's been soooo long that I could be dreaming and or its changed multiple times since.

Edit: Skimmed back thru TMS' guide didn't see what I'm thinking I recall ... *sigh* no idea if I'm delusional or not

Might it also be a question of perception? If so, tactics might make a good power to pick up.

I remember that too. I don't remember where it was written though.

I believe, based on experience with Acid Mortar in Traps, that pets like that will shoot further if you actually move up near a spawn, thus "letting it see through you". Its fairly easy to test with that and any kind of inviso, since Acid Mortar has a significantly longer range then its aggro radius (fortunately), but I never did it systematically.

I also remember reading this, and it is on my list of things to test intensively when I get to the LS section of my guide. Sadly, it's looking like I probably won't have time to do that until this summer

Just throw in the Devastation chance for hold proc in there...things get quite sexy very fast.

My Grav/Storm went that route and it is indeed very sexy.

My Storm/Sonic Defender hasn't really kitted out LS yet, but the Apoc proc looks very tempting now.
