Alignment & Alpha slot weirdness

Hi Guys,

this by way of info and an ask if anybody else has had this happen?

So am on an old (pre Inherent Fitness pool) lvl 50 Brute as a full Villain.

Start the Alpha slot arc and get as far as the "Trapdoor" mish. Go in and get very swiftly dispatched by the bad guy.

Leave the mish and log out.

Next day log in and the mish has reset as normal. I check my build and think, what on earth was I doing when I build this. It was just after I fell out of the back of the wardrobe into Narnia I guess.

So rather than respec I swap to my lvl 1 2nd build and start to train.

I get to lvl 40 and decide that I don't want the redside patron power pools but do want the Blueside Epic pools.

So I then spend the next 4 days going Rogue and then full Hero. I get all the usual alignment change messages and badges and contacts. I am a full Hero. I go to Ms Liberty and train to 50 picking my Ancilliary Pool powers as usual.

However in my Missions listings is the old Trapdoor mission (the only mish actually as the others have been removed) with "Villain" tag in red.

The Mender will not talk to me, I cannot enter the flame as it sees the mish as a Villain mish and I cannot clear the mish because it cannot be dropped. So short of going back to the redside I am stuck with it.

I have bugged and petitioned all this with, so far, no reponse.

So be warned not to change alignments whilst in the middle of the Alpha arc and if anybody else has had this please let me know how/what you did to get it sorted. Thanks

Edit to add: I am also unable to team for this mish both as a member or a leader, because the system is seeing my mish as a villain and so in turn me as a Villain and will not allow mixed teams in Oroborus Arghhh....)

Pretty sure you didn't need to go blueside to get the APPs, they are available to everyone. If you wanted to go blueside anyway, no worries, but it isn't a requirement for the Ancillaries as far as I'm aware.

The mender and the flame are not working because Ouroboros is two zones; hero and villain versions. You mission and the contact for it point to the villain version of the zone which you cannot acess unless you're a villain/rogue.

You probably will not be able to complete it without going villain again. And even if you got a GM that would drop/auto complete the current mission, you might be chained to the villain incarnate arc, and would have to go back for the other missions anyway.

You didn't have to go blue side to get the hero APPs, they're available to everyone regardless of alignment.

And there's probably nothing any GM/Dev can do for you short of telling you to go back redside to finish the arc. I believe this is the way it's designed and working as intended. Frustating but unavoidable.

The mistake was yours.

You went heroside to get your APP.

You don't need to do that, they are available to everyone at level 41, regardless of your alignment.

A hero character only needs to go redside to get Patron Pools because there is an arc involved in acquiring them that you have to be a full villain to start (a Rogue can do it to, but Rogue is the next step after villain on your path back, so there's no real point to waiting that long)

Also, there is, in fact, two Ramiel arcs: one Villain and one Hero that are exactly the same, and yet, two separate arcs. You can do one side's arc, switch sides, and do the other sides' arc.

Unfortunately, there's only one Ramiel. And every time you talk to him, he will only talk about the open arc, which is redside, which you can't do being heroic and all.

There is a warning text when switching alignments that admonishes you to complete all open arcs...

The upside is that swinging all the way back around to villain will get you a special badge. But yeah, every AT of every alignment has access to the APPs now, though the villain AT versions tend to have at least a few powers different from their hero counterparts. I respecced my Brute out of his Patron Powers as well.

They're not exactly the same. The hero one has you talk to Statesman, the villain one has you talk to Lord Recluse. (However, both are chumps, so I can see how you got confused.)

Ah, you're right.

Tho, I remember in early Beta that Villains had to see Statesman, and, of course, they couldn't.... fun times.

Sounds like someone got a little Ctrl+C/Ctrl+V-happy.
