I like the Shadow Shard, but...

I like the Shadow Shard and particularly the Storm Palace (45+), but it REALLY REALLY sucks that port, shield charge, lightning rod and who knows what else will not work at the Storm Palace.

Does anyone know why this is? Will it ever be changed?

I believe Teleport is suppressed in the Storm Palace to prevent people from being able to teleport in and out of it. That mechanic was put in place long before Shield Charge and Lightning Rod were added to the game. It really stinks if you rely upon teleport as your only travel power . . . and don't have invisibility.

The Devs either forgot the suppression or didn't think it had enough of an effect to mess with.

It is really too bad . . . the Shadow Shard as a whole is a great looking zone, but the zone in general and the TFs in particular could use a significant Revamp.

LOCAL MAN! The most famous hero of all. There are more newspaper stories about me than anyone else. "Local Man wins Medal of Honor." "Local Man opens Animal Shelter." "Local Man Charged with..." (Um, forget about that one.)

There is no teleportation suppression in either the Chantry or the Storm Palace, and there has never been such to the best of my knowledge. What there is is the "red reticle bug" which prevents you from targeting via reticle. This affects more than just teleportation powers. It affects all summons, all location-based AoEs and so forth, things like Voltaic Sentinel, Rain of Arrows, Ignite, etc.

I don't know what causes this, but my guess would be that the game perceives that you are somehow inside a solid object, and so will always snap the reticle to your body and turn it red, because it can't actually track what surface your mouse cursor is against. This really needs to be fixed, as while you don't really need to go to the Chantry or the Storm Palace, that structure is part of Black Swan's Shadow Dimension, which shows up at least three times.

I believe you can still target the ceiling sometimes.

The what Shard?

Oh. Right. That zone I never go to outside of instances because it's so badly in need of a massive overhaul...>_>

I'm going to petition it, again, for whatever small worth that will be.

Working as intended, according to a senior GM response.

Annoying, WAI in this instance is highly annoying because I can see no gain in any way/shape/manner/form whatsoever from it by anything or anyone.

Heaven forfend that someone, somewhere do something that makes it one smidgen easier to reach the literal last outpost in the game: the Storm Palace. NO TP FOR YOU! No! You will trudge barefoot through the snow at Walk speed to get there, and you will like it!

I have to say that badge-hunting in the Shard is an exercise in patience. Baby, you better really want those badges, cause they ain't gonna come easy. "King of Pain," indeed.

Its really fun as a gravity controller... it reminded of playing pre-wormhole. I did make heavy use of Dim Shift though. offensive stealthing I like to call it.
