Aggro stealing from a tank
In a team of seven Tankers and one Blaster, the Blaster will steal all the aggro. All of it. If the Blaster doesn't, he's not doing his job right.

heheh /signed All I have to do is lay down Rain of Fire and I am damaging everything in range... and as fast as they can they will start toward me intent of removing my cute head. Of course I always have Blazing Aura and Hot Feet going doing minor damage to anything close I then add in Burn, Fire Sword Circle and Fireball at close range and when the smoke clears most of the stuff around me is gone. Did I mention I am one NASTY little B.. err Blaster
Oh and Sorry Aett but I have to agree with yoiur detractors. I have been the EMP on numerous STFs with my ILL/EMP troller and the Tank even set up close enough so while I was constantly hitting him with CM, Fort and Heal Others my Phantom Army and Phantasm could help the rest of the team take down towers. I never once had LR peel off to attack me. The ONLY time I ever drew aggro was on one run where Black Scorpion peeled off from the Tank and one shotted me. The tank was low on end and stopped stopped taunting to pop several blues .. I was the next closest target and I earned a trip to the hospital aboard ship. Healing aura don't affect enemies in any way so how my little green numbers could draw aggro is something I find hard to believe

I've never been satisfied with the aggro formula the devs gave. There are times in game where you can plainly see a 6-slotted taunt with tier 4 nerve for extra taunt enhancement fail to take aggro from a character that doesn't have taunt, which by their formula, should be impossible. I have done this on my tank while also affecting the enemy with my own darkest night debuff, gloom debuff, -fly from hurl boulder, and still had an enemy not turn around. Only against some taunt-resistant enemies though, like the war walkers I mentioned earlier.

Some time ago I read on the Forums that the Devs, after several years of gameplay, had discovered that Aggro didn't work the way they thought it did. However, they liked it better then they had planned and left it. In short, I don't trust a Dev to tell me anything unless I see it myself under repeatable circumstances. They're human...they make mistakes too.
And with respect to Aett...I've SEEN my buddy on his Emp Defender get flattened by a foe (un-Taunted) who had others standing on top of him wailing on him because he healed the team with an AoE. As I said above, the Devs SAY there's no Healer Aggro but I've witnessed evidence to the contrary.
All that being said, I don't think it's a bad thing for the Healers to grab some flack. Makes for more challenge and all that. The problem is when a dedicated Tank with Taunt is attacking a target and someone else strips aggro for seemingly no reason. I've seen this myself (usually when I'm the Tank) and I always chalked it up to one of several things:
The other guy did so much more damage that he negated my Taunt.
He was closer than I was (Blappers are the main victims here) AND doing as much or more damage.
The foe was an EB/AV and resistant to Taunt for whatever reason.
Btw I keep seeing that a Shield Scrapper will strip aggro easily. Is their Aggro draw THAT bad? I only wonder because I'm thinking of making one and I want to know what I'm in for lol.
"Comics, you're not a Mastermind...you're an Overlord!"
I was going to complain about this for similar reasons.
Not so much as tank aggro stealing but the ungodly AoE bombs this guy throws out. I've died on this guy so many times it hurts, I died with my regen scrapper where I essentially went POOF about 7-8 times, I just wanted to hide in the corner and let the other 7 take him. I've also done this with far casting blasters, defenders, controllers as either DPS or Heals and as far as I can tell there really is no skill to him, his AoE blasts hit me from 50ft or 1ft and it usually means instant vaporized death. It seems totally random and if you don't have lots of IO sets or freshly 50 you usually die first. All of the debuffs tend to cause the the AoE bolts to come my way.
the only time I haven't felt like I wasn't just picked on was a full 8x rad team where everyone had full sets of leadership and everyone was casting the same debuffs. He melted like a regular boss then.

I'm inclined to dismiss "oh my EMP got aggro from..." because there aren't a lot of reports of it. Then again there were relatively few people with a true Wi (or the converse, the Anti-Wi where aggro never goes to you if there's another player around) flag, because it required some special circumstances (hashing badly). But there being few reports and "no obvious bug" in the code didn't mean there wasn't a problem.
The real question, which was true for the Wi flag and would be likely true here is can people reporting problems reproduce it?
I'm going to say I don't believe in healer aggro. I do believe the healer may have been attacked for no reason however. Sometimes the enemies just attack erratically.
For example, one time I was on a spine scrapper and wasn't feeling very tough. My group were attacking pretty damaging enemies; don't remember what they were. Anyway, I stealthed up to the group and just sit there, waiting for the tank. The tank doesn't come, but a fire blaster came and fire-breathed the lot of them. Every last one turned and shot me.
Anyway, that's my explanation of when people report their healers being attacked - just random attacking from the enemies.
How is that disagreeing with me? I think it actually agrees with me. There is no heal aggro in this game, and you're saying the same thing.

Opps Sorry Aett your right! the thread is getting long and I disagreed with the wrong poster. My BAD hehehe
Just to clarify things a bit, YEAH THAT WILL HAPPEN ON THE FORUMS, just because a Defender or Controller has and uses heals doesn't mean it is the only thing they are doing. In fact if they are any GOOD at all it better not be the only thing they are doing. Defenders do have an ATTACK set in case anyone forgot and as mentioned previously even the best TANK in the world can lose aggro for a moment .. If that Defender is firing off an attack at that same moment guess who the AV is headed to next? AS I mentioned in my other post here some times all it takes is being the next closest target. My Ill/EMP was pretty much concentrating on CM, Fort and heals when Black Scorpion came over and gave me a love tap.. a tap that one shotted my cute but squishy self and sent me to the hospital onboard ship.

I see aggroe stollen all the time, and I seen healers stealing it. In fact, there is a TF, want to say STF, were several experienced leaders had adviced Emps to not use their max heals or they will steal aggroe.
And yes I was playing my Psi/Emp Defender and was providing my weak heals to the tanker holding LR enterteined, a spider crawled over my keyboard, which I immediately rproceded to freak out and scream, but my son valiantly ran to me and disposed of the hairy yucky critter. Unfortunately by then, my charge, the tanker was about to die, barely alive by a hair's width, and I went pow with my strongest heal and taking damage to myself in the process, next thing I know I am dead. LR took insult of my denying his impending kill and took it out on me, with the all too common one-shot-kill.
While I keep being told, there is no anti-healer code, I keep seeing healers getting aggroe and getting of course auto-killed since they are overly-fraggile. If there is no code, there must be instead a combination of events or circumstances, that does a great impression of such an imaginary code.

Empathy is the PRIMARY - trying learning the AT before spouting nonsense. My emp/psi defender has done multiple MSTFs (as well as MITF, MLGTF, MLRSF, MApexTF, MTMTF) and never, ever once taken aggro from LR (or other AVs in the other TFs) using any of my heals. As far as I can tell, this is another fantasy of yours regarding support ATs.
