I liked the 'Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow™' influence in that last shot.

Reminds me of an old Superman cartoon were he was going up against a group of flying robots, have to look up the title. Anyways I would like to see what this guy can do if WB/DC gave him a budget and a small crew under his command. Maybe produce a couple of Superman shorts and maybe have them run at theaters as a treat for kid friendly G related WB films.

That would be the Max Fleischer Superman cartoon from 1941, "The Mechanical Monsters"

Was just going to mention this!
I love Fleischer cartoons...

It is really cool seeing the thematically classic approach for Superman. I might have enjoyed a bit more of a classical visual style as well, but that's just me. Although, the one-eyed hairstyle/Vera Lake-ish Lois was kinda cool (and she looked a bit like Kidder to me).

This is the sort of thing I'd love to see a live action movie go for... armies of skyscraper-sized robots that only Superman could thwart.

In fact... I wouldn't mind seeing it be set in an older time period.

Anyways... Neat find.
It's interesting that he drew it all and didn't use vectors and all that.
I'm familiar with doing animation the old way and it's no wonder it was so short.
Actually been meaning to study up on modern ways of accomplishing 2D animation for a few side projects of mine that I'd prefer not to hand draw in entirety.

Thanks!

Squee! That was a true throwback for me....I own all the Fleischer cartoon serials coutesty of the tinned box set of all the Superman movies a few years back (if you can get it, grab it...it also includes the short-lived NBC series and a few other goodies) and thought this was just a lovely harkening back to the great old cartoons.

An especially nice touch with John Newton's voice acting. I saw the name and went 'hang on, I know that name....' and lo and behold, it was him. Great stuff.
