Very nice! I've been planning on getting art from this artist soon. Prices and talent are too good not to!

Thanks for all the comments, I love those pieces so hard and plan to get more from him as soon as I come into some more cash (he /was/ an amazing find, I feel pseudo-blessed to have found him. ). All right, more art for today, let us see.
In the end of 2009, I was feeling kind of blase about CoH in general and I thought that some art might help me out in that respect, so I got a couple of sketches done by Daggerpoint when he was holding one of his cheap sketch dealios. I got a shot of Withering, my spines/elec (coloured black because it looks more like decay) scrapper, who is basically a walking body of decay, having gone through a weird experiment to end up where she was. The sketch was beautiful enough, but then I had it coloured by Vrykon and both follow. The colours came out amazingly beautiful and totally work for her.
Secondly, I got the same two (artist and colourist) in tandem do Lady Equilibria, Disheartener's former incarnation before a much needed shift in story and pseudo-retcon. I love the way it came out, and it still holds a kind of nostalgia to me because E was my first character-- so much so that people still call Disheartener E.
More art coming tomorrow-- sooner or later we'll be caught up on what I've had done and I'll start just posting when I've got /new/ pieces.
Very nice stuff there.

Great find on ArtGutierrez and some really nice stuff thusfar. Looking forward to seeing more of your collection.
Oops, forgot to post some last night. I did commission another piece from ArT, though, so hopefully that'll come in soon and we can show that off. Regardless!
A while back, when I commissioned the aforementioned pieces from Daggerpoint and Vrykon, I also got a couple of quick sketches from Tim Kelly, because I loved the pseudo-grittiness of his style and such. I got Lady E, and Withering once again because it was around the same time.
I think they came out pretty well and kind of personified a bit of that background I experience when I play both of them. More tomorrow, then I might almost be out. Gasp. I need to buy more art.
They do look pretty gritty... it's kind of entrancing in a way.
I love the Tim Kelly ones, the simple colours really do them justice. Daggerpoint is always crisp. The second Daggerpoint (Disheartener) looks significantly different between the lines and the coloured version (no, I am not referring to the nipples). Was this a deliberate infusion of personality?

He doesn't consider himself a colorist (someone who just puts colors down over another's design) but as more
of a digital painter (works his style directly into the piece... the result is more of a collab than a coloring job).
He's been known to redraw pieces from scratch if the lines he was given are not up to his standards.
He doesn't do this with Dagger/Jeremy's lines (or mine or anyone else on his "preferred pencilers" list) though.
P.S. Both of the above pieces, if I remember correctly, are ones he calls "speed" paints (1-2 hours or less).
This one he did for Eddy Swan is my favorite of that series.
P.P.S. I'm wondering if Tim Kelly sees any of the faces he drew into Lady E's pic...
I count at least 6 so far (the large one smoking a cig on her shirt being the most obvious).
This includes two pieces from Wolvtrune@dA that I got done a while back. It was right after I had reformatted Lady E into the Disheartener concept and wished to have a piece of art of her, and, since I had some extra cash, I got a piece done of my highly violent, petite, pink-haired, half-asian, half-alien... concept, thing, Nimble Minx-- or Liz, if you prefer. I was actually really pleased with how both came out, and Disheartener's alone is why I kept getting art of her done (that and she's my main).
The colours are really striking, I think.
Also, as a note... I gave Vrykon the image idea of Christina Hendricks for Lady E. Because uh... Christina Hendricks is God's gift to mankind and I love her, and I just wanted to personify that, so it's probably why it seems a bit different from the sketch. It was infusing her personality and a bit of that redheaded Vixen I love to play so much into it. He's an artist, flat out, and I love it.
I also now I have to go looking for faces in the TK pieces. >
But this'll probably be one of the last until my next piece from ArT comes in. It might be a bit because of the fact that he has a few people before me, but it should be interesting. I am also planning to get more done as soon as cash flow allows. I should have one more set tomorrowish for people to check out. A duo, if you will... two duos, the same duo twice-- some'at. Then after that, a single character piece. I keep noticing I have more art, eesh.
Regardless, I plan to keep updated on what I'm getting done and what to expect and discussing the art with people, so feel free to hang out and do so.
AND DEFINITELY GO COMMISSION THOSE ARTISTS.
Oh wow I like the newest ones.. the colors are so vibrant and really pop out at you. I love the subtle effect the backgrounds have on the pieces to truly make them pop. And the proportions on the women are so realistic! <3

and let you search for the rest on your own.
Looking at her torso I spotted this...
Which when you take away TK's work looks like this....
I clearly see a face complete with eyes, eyeballs, eyebrows, defined cheekbones, a hairline, a nose,
a mouth etc etc and even what appears to be a cigarette with wavy lines streaking up and away from it.
The real test though is go back up and look at the original. Do you still see the face?
And more importantly can you "un-see" it now or does it still look like a face?
Today we have two pieces done by the ever so lovely, and ever growing in popularity with the CoH commissions crowd, Avionetca@dA. She's got comparable prices to some higher end people and rather quick turn around for quirky pieces that feel kind of fun. These two feature Charged Wolf, an SS/Elec Brute from the Virtue server, and aaah... my boyfriend IRL (these were kind of a late Christmas present to him) and my character, Disheartener. A thing I've noticed when people draw Disheartener is they give her full gloves on her costume (she actually has the wraps so her fingers are bare-- it's how she drains the energy and stuff from people, through contact with the weird fibers on her finger that sink into flesh, or through clothing and into flesh, and beyond to suck out their life and all that jazz), but honestly, I deal with it by saying the fingers are removable as it pleases her.
Regardless, they came out pretty well, I think.
The first one is kind of a piece of them out in the field, working, taking down villains, the whole nine yards. The second is more of a friendly, lovers type piece-- just going for a walk, and as many people have commented... it looks like he's trying to con her into sex. They came out perfectly for the style I was looking for, and I think Lance (Charged Wolf) looks damn hot, no? more coming soon.
As a note, i am now seeing faces in my TK pieces. :P
Also, to all those commenting-- thank you so much for your support of my character's art. It pleases me.
You're getting some really quality pieces! Congrats yet again
Nice collection you have going here, Drea!!

Ah, a character that is a bit of a differentiation between Disheartener, Withering, and any other I have. Miss Eve Summers-- gun toting, armed to the teeth hard *** who talks big and fights bigger. She's one of my favourite characters to play, even though she's on a current hiatus, because she doesn't care who says what about her, she's there to do a job and it's work worth doing, so everyone can have their little intrigues and BS stories behind her back and she'll keep right on going and doing what she does best-- she's my bb.
I commissioned a piece of her by the ever so talented John Becaro@dA, and I think it turned out rather well.
The mark across her face was actually meant to be a scar that splits her nose a bit, a battle wound of the most serious kind, but somehow it ended up looking like its in game interpretation-- regardless, I love it because she even has the wakizashi that she uses from time to time.
I have some art of some non CoH characters but I doubt that's kosher, so I think this might be it for a bit, I'll have to go scouring my galleries and make sure, but I should have new pieces in soon~ <3
Marvelous. John's work is always great and he seems to be getting much better at doing weapons.
Gorgeous textures and lighting on Eve Summers! She really wears her type-A personality on her [kind of a sleeve].
That's gorgeous-stunning, not gorgeous-crocodile.

... I'm Drea, by the way. ... just to get that out of the way. I've started getting a lot of art done for certain characters, and considering I like to share it like a ****, I figured this is the best place to start.
Tonight I acquired two new finished pieces and feel like sharing those first, but over the next few days/weeks I'll be adding everything I've gotten done recently and not so recently.
These two pieces are of my character, Disheartener, a hero on the Virtue server and a member of the Reciprocators. I wanted to get a shot of her in kind of a semi-action pose, as well as a show of the scar she has going the length of her back. These are going to be kind of big, and that's after I shrank them some, but I want you to be able to see the quality of work that ArTGutierrez did for me. I mean it's amazing and if you can't spare 10 dollars for something like this, I don't know what to tell you, maybe you don't like art as much as I do. >D
If you want to find out more about the character, she has a Virtueverse, as well as an IC Formspring.me, feel free to add comments, ask questions, and the like. If you're not an RPer, just enjoy the delicious arts from here on out. :P
