Softcap for Electric???

Just wondering is there a way to get EA to the softcap on defense (EA/WM)? I haven't been able to mess with it much on mid's, finally got the time last night and a bad storm knocked my power out unfortunally I didn't have anything saved. If not is it able to get close enough that a small luck will get me there when needed? Thanks

I can (in Mids) get my ELA/KM tanker to within a small purple of the softcap (36%ish iirc), so i would assume War Mace could as well. It requires some things that I don't know if I'd actually do in game though: running weave, combat jumping, hover, and manouevers. Could probably lose hover in place of the PVP 3% IO (gladiator something), but still. Not pretty. I'll probably build to closer to 20% defense in game and go for some more recharge (hasten) instead. El K'Boom is only level 35, so still time to figure things out

I softcapped 3 ele armor scrappers to smash/lethal def and they get about 40% or so to melee as well. I did this without the PVP 3% IO.

Remember, Kinetic Combats and Reactive Armors are your friends. Add in Obliterations, steadfast 3%, Combat jumping, Weave, Maneuvers, and some other sets and its not too terrible to reach.

Due to Electric's endurance management and +recharge, you can do stuff with your build other primaries couldn't without making sacrifices, and going for defense is indeed the best way to go. As said above by Reverence, IO bonuses and Weave/CJ/Maneuvers will help get you there.

I run a S/L softcapped build on my SS/Elec Brute, and a 32.5%(one purp insp to softcap) positional defense build on my Elec/Fire Tanker.

I made this build with the tier 4 cardiac alpha in mind so it could get very close to the S/L resist cap. It achieves 32.5% defense to melee/ranged/AoE, which is one small purple inspiration away from soft capping.

I don't have my build on me at the moment, but I softcapped my Elec/Elec tanker to S/L with CJ and Weave (I just hate manuevers on a tank, even though I've got the end for it - I really don't know why)

I do know I put Kinetic Combat in at least 4 powers, Oblits (1.88% S/L def is still good) in 2 AoEs, Reactive Armors in the 3 resists powers and the steadfast unique (no PVP unique) That with a properly slotted CJ and Weave gets you to 36% and change. From there it's not too hard to add the rest. Be that via manuevers, a mule power, or whatever your preference is.

This is of course assuming you're going for S/L def and not positional...

This gets me around 42.5% S/L. PvP Def boost would easyly hit the Soft cap for expensive root. However for cheaper way Im going to swap out a few enchancments out of one power that really only nets me a small Recharge boost and instead slot something else for the last of the S/L Def bonus I need. Currently thiers 3 different roots I could easyly go with, from the slots I would free up.

On one hand... 4 sets of KC and 2 Obl not exzactly "cheap" by some standards. In the grand scheme of things.. its really not that bad (considering I have a 2 billion PvP Aug on this toon). Especialy with Hero Merits you can buy your Kinetic Combats and not have to worry about the 150 mil+ each one costs.

I know some dont like Manuvers running on a tank, but Electric Armor has the End to do it rather easyly. Espeicaly in my case as I went with Cardaic Alpha Slotting. Between 70-85% End reduction in just about everything and Power Sink running on 180% Recharge. Endurance is not a issue even running 10 toggles.

I laugh loudly at Sappers.

This is a build I put together real quick just to see if I could, and it wasn't so hard. I did use Maneuvers, but everyone keeps talking about how good ElA is at end management, so I figured I'd do it anyways :P

Keep in mind, I've never actually run an ElA, but this is how I'd do an ElA build as a starting off point. I'm sure you could tweak it to make it more playable. It has 45.1% S/L defense with 37% Melee defense, so it's pretty survivable.
