New To Brutes
ADD fashion. I like that. Here goes:
You're not a tank.
You're not a scrapper.
You are a brute. You like aggro, which works out nicely for most people on your team, but you're not there to save them.
Let's go ride bikes.
DM/willpower will be pretty strong and solo capable. You will set the pace of the team. If they can keep up with you, great. If not, you'll still have full fury and they'll have scraps to clean up.
Ooooh! Shiny!
Go have fun.

My ADD version:
Brutes SMASH!
There are three types of people in this world: Those who can count and those who can't.
For the less ADD version, but slightly more humorous and helpful...
This reminds me of LÜBKE, something I posted some two years ago on the German boards. I would roughly translate it as iBITE (increased Brutishness In Ten Exercises).
1st exercise: Create a brute, any brute. 2nd exercise: Log in your brute and notice the funny bar below your health and endurance. This is the iBITE bar implemented into this game for our therapy by the cooperative devs. (Thanks again!) Watch what it does. Notice the difference between activity and inactivity. Notice how your xp bar behaves differently when you have high iBITE. 3rd exercise: Repeat to yourself "More iBITE means more awesome. Only a full iBITE bar is a good iBITE bar. I will never let down my iBITE bar." until you have fully understood the message and know it by heart. 4th exercise: Play your brute and try and keep your iBITE bar filled as much as possible. When it is about to reach zero do something, anything, to fill it again. 5th exercise: Repeat exercise 4 only without looking at the iBITE bar. Only look at the iBITE bar when checking your progress in guessing your current amount of iBITE. 6th exercise: Cover the upper right corner of your monitor with a sticker, a post-it or anything similar so that you can see neither your health bar nor your iBITE bar. Then repeat exercise 5. 7th exercise: Create a toon from any non-squishy AT other than a brute. Seeing the iBITE bar with these ATs is the tricky part. In most cases the iBITE bar is invisible, but if you try hard enough you will see it in your mind. This is a special kind of interface for this therapy only. 8th exercise: Repeat exercises 5 and 6 with your non-brute non-squishy AT. If at any point you receive comments from other players that acknowledge your awesomeness or insanity proceed to the next exercise. 9th exercise: Create a toon from any squishy AT. As with the previous ATs you have to access the special mind-interface to be able to see the iBITE bar. If you are still unsure you might want to create a dominator as that AT has a special version of the iBITE bar called iBITE U. (U stands for "uber" of course.) 10th exercise: Repeat exercises 5 and 6 with this toon. Notice other players' reaction to your playstyle. Mind that most people find it unusual for a defender to rip his shirt apart, scream "HELL YEAH!" and jump headfirst into the next spawn while the tanker is still tieing his shoelaces. Remember that words like "nutjob" and "insane" have essentially the same meaning as "awesome". |

Imagine if you will, a Defender ripping his shirt off and going face-first into a spawn.

I was given this advice about Brutes as well. For the 1st twenty or so levels you may want to put at least one end. red. on each of your offensive powers. You can respec them out later (if you want to), but I found the advice to be very helpful. Take care and have a GREAT day. By the by, I now have seven lvl 50 Brutes. I love them (but still think Scrappers rule:})

Few people realize that attacks consume a lot more endurance per second than toggles ever will.

x3 on the end redux while leveling. Accuracy enhancements also increase your end efficiency in a long view sense. I usually run acc/end/rech common ios in attacks while leveling. Tends to start around the time I can slot lvl 20s. Ymmv.
This is good advice from level 1-50, on any AT.

I ALWAYS have at least one end redux in almost all of the attacks i have on any almost toon.
On brutes i think this is really needed because the key to a good brute is that you dont stop and rest between a mob. I actually find end is BETTER if you keep going, but maybe thats just me.

At all.
Just slot accuracy and endurance reduction. Fury will take care of the damage and you'll be in the game far more than you would be with no end redux.

Oh, one thing i have forgotten i guess is that now that stamina kicks in at lvl2 you actually dont end up having to many end problems until 20ish so before that acc/rech/maybe dmg should will be fine. Once you get up to 20 however...

Okay, so with stamina at level two, the summary is...
1. Make Brute
2. Point Brute in any direction. Attack.
3. Fury
4. Slot Stamina and end reductions
Noice.
Yeah, you're going to do just fine.

From 1-20 on a Brute, you can go so far as to not slot damage.
At all. Just slot accuracy and endurance reduction. Fury will take care of the damage and you'll be in the game far more than you would be with no end redux. |
My priority in slotting:
1) Acc. If you can't hit stuff, you can't kill stuff. Misses also waste your end. (x2)
2) End. If you've no end, you can't attack, and thus hit stuff. (x1/x2)
3) Recharge. Now that you can hit stuff, hit stuff faster. (x1/x2)
Lastly, set brawl on auto-attack. (and throw an ACC on it so you hit stuff) It costs no end, recharges fast, animates fast, and every attack you can squeeze in boosts your fury further.
There is something about EM/EA brutes that I just love.... not only can you slot End Redu but on somethings you can also slot END Mod's as well... Plus the End Drain and Stamina... That guy never runs out of End....
Just somthing to think about....

"My life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely pretty and well preserved, but rather I will skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming...WOW...What a Ride"
I played one a while back, but ditched him due to concerns over bad build, bad knowledge, serious Blaster addiction (which I'm recovering from). I have a level 50 DM/Regen scrapper and loved him.
So I made a shiny level 1 DM/Will brute. I've read the guides etc, but looking for some forewarning an my sets, my life cycle, and my playstyle. Anyone wanna give me the downlow in ADD fashion?
