So at least since I have to watch them play a Super Bowl in my hometown, I'm glad it will be a pain in the ***.

That and with the roads being so bad, maybe all the women will be safe from Ben Roethlisberger.

Was down in San Antonio for a while and got pulled over by a cop one evening.

Him: "Don't you know this road's closed?"
Me: "HUH?"
Him: "Closed due to snow and ice!"
*Look out at few stray drifts in a confused state as I hand him my license*
Him: "Oh...A Chicago boy..."

Then he explained the lack of anything even remotely resembling what I'd recognize as road clearing equipment down there. I then promised to drive safe and continued on my way.

We hit -36 last week, though this week has been pretty balmy in comparison. I'm feelin' a little jipped about how much snow we got versus what was forecasted, but then I grew up in Buffalo, and then lived in Syracuse for awhile.

I'm sorry that your crew was stupid enough to fire on a station filled with a quarter million civilians, including your own people. And I'm sorry I waited as long as I did before I blew them all straight to hell. ~Sheridan, The Fall of Night

Actually it's a layer of snow protected by a couple of inches of ice. Gonna be above freezing today, so I guess I'll try to chop it out later on.

Yeah. Familiar with the region (had friends in Syracuse while I lived in Watertown). They'll throw anything down on the roads that has more traction than sheet ice. Sand, salt, dirt, ash, etc.

Consequently most of the cars out there are half-rotted inside of 5 years.

And currently they are adding a mixture of beet juice to the salt on the Thruway for extremely cold days. Unfortunately, I don't believe it's enough to turn the road reds, which I find sort of a disappointment.

Edit: here's what the snow looks like now. We'll see how much it's changed by Thursday. That's a regular table, so that's about 3 feet tall.

...and about an hour ago. With the bright sunshine, it's gorgeous here today.

The thing I love about New Hampshire (as opposed to my native Ohio) is that clouds only last a couple days. I don't think I've ever gone an entire week without seeing the sun here, whereas in Ohio you can go months without seeing the sun, because there's nothing to divert weather from rolling in off the Great Plains.
