This is my first time using Mids. It took me forever to figure it out and this is what i came up with. I actually enjoy farming. The challenge to take on a whole map is a great stress reliever! Anyways, can i get some pointers for this build. Im planning on going with Musculature with this guy. Any help would be much appreciated.

Either cardiac for your end or spirit for your kill rate and the +healing. Musculature is semi-useless on a brute.

i'd take temperature protection if you're going to fight a lot of fire enemies. throw the steadfast in there instead.

@ultrawatt - ah cool. i think i'll go with spiritual.

@shisui - thanks for the input. i'll probably get rid of one of the concealment powers to grab temp protection. ( i dont plan on farming only fire critters. i think im gonna make this my main toon. casual game play and all that goodness.)


from what i gathered from the boards is that soft capping defense was the way to go. i know im not close to it but thats the best i could come up with.

use 4 pieces of reactive armor in all of your resists if you want to get closer to softcapping s/l. also, take a patron pool, and 6 slot the aoe immob (in your case, electrifying fences)with enfeebled operation. it has one of the largest bonuses.

Another nitpick: stealth only gives half that defense bonus unsuppressed.

In Mids, if you want to see the correct values for defense powers that suppress in combat (stealth, cloaking device, etc) go into options->configuration, then to the effects and maths pane. On the left hand side is a 'suppression' box with a list of effects you can enable, check the box for "Attacked" and that will cause you to show all the pure 'combat' stats and you will get the correct value for stealth's def.

Good to know, but still I wouldn't like keeping stealth on for general purposes combat, where softcap is more important (in important fights, inspirations can make up for defensive shortfalls)

I am curious to know. How efficient is the Fighting Power Pool powers are, Tough & Weave for the SS/FA Brute? I would be farming mostly (probably only fire_type damage mobs). I have a FA/BA Tanker but nevered played a Brute before. Just very curious to know just how much squishier a FA Brute is compared to a FA Tanker. I am about to do a respec build but do not know if Fighting Pool is necessary for additional content besides farming. Note just want to do some nice scrapper like team-play if possible besides being mistaken for a Tanker's roll because it is a FA Brute, (I would roll an Invun, or Stone Armor for the Tanking aggro holding roll - not knocking off other armor type Brutes because of not mentioning those).

If you're gonna be farming only fire type enemies your better off getting the stealth set for some LotG mules, but if you want to run something like an ITF and other "normal" stuff itÂ’s really really noticeable. And weave is sweet as well because you can get closer to the epicness that is the soft cap, but thatÂ’s another thing i wouldnÂ’t shoot for if you are doing fire type enemies.
I for one always support having two builds, one thatÂ’s soft capped to s/l and the other thatÂ’s has tons of +rech. But not everyone wants to spend that kind of inf.

Thank you for the reply UltraWatt =D Well now I may be doing some TF's and such to get additional accolades and Incarnate Shards just to boost it's potential. But then again, I do have an Invun/SS Tanker too that i can easily soft-cap the def for so I would mostly be running pure fire farms with the Brute. I am to anxious to get this toon started the right way which has me at a stand-still of not knowing the need/should be done for the Brute.

So I tried tweakin the build multiple times and this one is by far the greater of the 5 thus far.

So, I think I got a plan. I wil lbe stripping my fire/kin for the purples and LoTG's Recharges, (I am getting burnt out with the fire/kin a bit) and will be putting them into the Brute. Also now that I think about it, recharge is the key-factor for fire-type damage farming planning to farm. Another quick question which again regards to Tough & Weave. To run lvl 54 fire-type damage dealing foes will I need the Fighting Pool still?

Here, made a couple of small changes. The FF+rech proc is THAT good. Also i would recommend you get either soul (gloom+dark oblit) or mu (fences+ball) if you can, so you can get RotP nuke/rez. You are going to die sometimes, and being about to get right back up, kill some dudes, and be unkillable for 15 seconds is fun.

i scrapped soft capping for defense and went recharge after all. all i can say is oh my goodness!! burning through mobs and i havent even equipped my alpha yet. fun times.

Okay, I took your advice and selected Temp Proctection and slotted the Steadfast Res/+3Def Io in it as well.

I will mention that, I would like to aim for a build that uses less inspirs, I dont use them much anyhow but if I have to, so be it. But, I noticed that others can farm lvl 54`s with no problem, my present build cannot. maybe because it has NO Temp Protection in begin with.

Also, I need to know just how important it is to have Leadership for the Tactics and LoTG 7.5 recharge mule slotÉ Is tactics I ust have for lvl 54`s (Question Mark) My keyboard wont key it in for some reason.

Tactics is literally useless on an SS/FA. Your tohit will still be capped to 54s, i still have leadership (maneuvers, assault, veng) on my farming build though because veng is sweet when you PL someone. But you wont be able to farm 54s without using purple insp, or veng, no matter what.

Also, this build appears to be both your farming and standard gameplay build, right?

Heya Ultrwatt!! Sorry for the late response (due to working 13 hr shifts on Wend, Thur & Fri but have 4 day weekends always) and thank you for your feedback. Okay, I will retweak the build again (I forgot to put that xtra-recharge proc in Footstomp in this build). I am glad to know of the lvl 54 cap + tohit comparison between the two functions when farming. I will most def scoop up Veng because I do tend to tag along with me an unknown, random lowbie (with at least 9 month veterans rewards listed) with me for free so he/she will be a nice candidate to cast Veng upon to collect those additional def bonuses.

On the Demon map, I melts right thru them. I haven't tried lvl 54's yet. Lvl 53's been great with no problem at all besides the slight Endu-drainage from uses that requires a click of blues here and there while Consume" recharges. I will repost the build when done. Also, I've heard others saying they can build a very efficient farming build without having the dreadful expensive IO's. I don't know if that is true or false but the xpensive stuff will grant better recharge IMO.

This build thus far has been built for both farming and PVE content for accolades/badges/PVE-gameplay (Drops) and Shard hunting.

Okay Ultrawatt, I have respec the build again but haven't ried it out yet but will when I return home. I took your advice and listen carefully of what you said on your own ideas too so I made it a pure farming build. Since I do tag along freebies here and there, Veng will be NICE to have so I swapped out of the Fighting Pool which is more Def and too will help reduce Endu usage. My older build most recent above is .... well it does well but, I must pop purps alot which is annoying and too crafting them in middle of mobs when I can be doing straight hardcore killen.

It has more damage due to Veng as well too.

these are great farming builds, with tons of recharge. if you're looking to do more regular content, you'll want more knockback protection. for my regular content build, im sitting at about 56% recharge, plus hasten. a long long ways from your over 100%. i dont use any purples (so far). a popular one is 5 arma plus the ff proc in footstomp.

the most s/l defense ive gotten is about 38% without gimping powers. im pretty happy with it. cardiac is really nice for this build, even though you have consume. although i spose with that kind of recharge, your consume is up a lot more.

i really like your build. its not like all the others, it departs in some major ways, and there are some nice trade offs. having taunt slotted up is really nice. its something i wish i had at times. on the other hand, rage only 3 slotted. anway, nice work finding your own path through the waves.
