I would tend to doubt it, every other DXP weekend we've had has excluded AE so I imagine this will be the same. Heck, can you imagine the carnage if we'd had DXP including AE while the Monkey Farms were active a couple of months ago? It's only a matter of time until someone finds another drastic XP exploit in AE along the same lines.

(In case you missed it there was a bug in AE that would allow you to populate a map with powerless, 0 XP mobs and Rikti Monkeys... and the underling class Rikti Monkeys were giving boss level XP. It was absolutely the most rediculous leveling I've ever seen... a brand new level 1 reaching 12 in less than 5 minutes; 24 in about 10-15 minutes and level 35 in about 30 minutes. Terrible for the health of the game and certainly needed to be fixed but it was glorious skipping dull, dozens of times repeated lower levels for long time veterans. I think I ran 7-8 new characters who's powersets I wanted to try up into the 20's during that time.)

What I wonder is, does the Double XP Weekend also double the drop-rate of Shards?

My guess would be no. Drops have not been doubled in the past only XP/Inf/Prestige.

Did you ever do a MM 'sploit farm? I rate that as #1, by far actually. That's the one where the MM summons outside the mission, enters at lvl 5 but the lowest tier pets stayed at 48. Populate the map with +4 AVs, then lolz.

I shall now go off topic and rate the exploits!
1) MM minion
2) Bile Spray without target cap (not an AE exploit, technically, since it was a bug with the power)
3) all Comm Officers, all the time
4) Rikti monkeys/spiderbots (same exploit, just different critters)
5) Hami Greens
6) Backloaded maps with destructible objects spawning ambushes.
7) MM top tier pets as boss mobs
8) Any all lieut map customized to your strengths

There are others I never saw, such as the all fire imp maps.

Back to topic of 2xp in AE, the very first 2xp after AE was released included 2xp in AE, but then there was a "bug" that didn't allow 2xp in AE for the next one. Mysteriously, this bug has continued to vex the developers, as it still exists after all this time. I'm sure they're diligently working on it.

I liked #6 with freak lts. Not so much for the exploit, mind you - It was just awesome wading through a sea of almost never ending self rezzing freak lts.

No.

It's too easy to level there already, and the devs would have to be insane to double that.

Regular missions only. But hey, look on the bright side, if you run a couple ITFs you'll get more XP than all but the most exploitive AE farms AND you might get some good drops while you're at it.

Personally, I plan on getting some of the signature TFs out of the way this weekend so I can level through them and get TFC.

Wish they would allow AE content to get Dxp, so people level faster than usual, big whoop.

There have been just too many massive exploits in AE; the Monkey Farms I mentioned earlier were leveling from 1-12 in FIVE MINUTES on normal XP... just how insane would it have double XP on top of that?

With those Monkey farms you could, with a little dedication and an AOE heavy mentor, level from 1-50 in not much more than an hour or two.

I actually can't. When you're already going from level 1 to 50 in two hours, taking half of that time doesn't change things much, unless your goal is just to crank out an arbitrary number of level 50s that you won't play afterwards.

I'm amazed that the monkeys lasted as long as they did; I would have expected them to get the hammer in a week; not last for over a month that they did. I thought they got crushed with issue 18 and Going Rogue because I remember thinking it was a good idea to get them gone before the influx of new players with GR.

It was fun for long time vets to get new characters past the early grind we've all done so many times before but it was terrible for new players. Those early levels serve a purpose in teaching the game and how to play their character.

THIS.

I once ran an STF with a doofus that didn't know what enhancements were, and it took him 15 minutes to figure out the TF didn't start in Atlas Park.

Players should level at least their first character the "hard" way so they have some idea how the game works.

Oh, and that player on the STF? He ragequit the team halfway through the first mission because he died. Turns out that was the first time anything had actually fought back.

Darn!! I need to get my characters into their 30s. I want to play them from there.

I did 2 to level 10 and the first one was cool and fun(villain mastermind), the second one was an energy/electric control dom. The Mastermind flew to level 10(I teamed with another mastermind :-)) but the Dom(Praetorian Loyalist) I got to 8 but had to push hard to get to 10.

What's interesting about this is how timeless the original content is. I leveled with each mission exactly on the Villain side. On the Praetorian, it was hit or miss. Some of the missions in the underground were long.

Doofus...

That's a strong word. This game challenges your thinking, I read pdfs before I played and still had questions. But it is interesting to see how intuitive the game is....Doofus' have much value in this area.

Do you ever have those days when everything goes right in CoH? You hit the right keys, your present with no distractions, no mapservering, and your team is same. Some days I play, I wonder if I'm the same person....maybe he was having one of those days. Sometimes, you have to know when to quit. If you not on when you play, it can hurt your drops. Personally, I find most people just do trial and error with CoH. MMOs are hard to document. I have docs about the original CoH and I looked for the Faultline trial when I first started :-)
