Radiaton Blast/Sonic Resonance, the agile and resilient corruptor?

Auroxis

So I was toying around with a build for my Rad/Sonic corruptor who's currently sitting at level 34. I came up with a build that has:

25.7% Melee Defense
41.9% Ranged Defense
18.8% AoE Defense

64% S/L Resist
22.4% Fire/Cold Resist
16.7% Energy Resist
33.4% Negative/Toxic Resist

Now, it does sacrifice Aim, but maybe Soul Drain will make up for it since it wouldn't necessarily be a death sentence to jump into a large mass of mobs once the Brute has adequate aggro on them. Not to mention, the generous amounts of -Def and -Res that I would be supplying my team.

I would definitely want more slots in Stamina.

Rad/Sonic eats endurance like crazy.

I would drop Clarity for Aim. Clarity is mostly redundant with Sonic Dispersion. Aim will take you a lot further.

I would drop Fly, use a Jet Pack, and pick up Hasten or Combat Jumping depending on how you sort out Defenses. Regarding that, the difference between 41% and something close to 45% (say 44.5 and above) is huge. I would definitely try to close that gap.

Sonic Cage is pretty awful. A few people have this for one specific Task Force or another but personally I find this power extremely lackluster. I might use it if it were a free temporary power but as it stands I don't find it worth a slot.

Atomic Blast is an "up to you" power. I find it ok. I would prefer Irradiate to Atomic Blast because it ends up doing way more total damage when you factor in adequate Recharge and the fact that Irradiate doesn't tank endurance.

Since Power Boost doesn't work on Sonic shields, I'd consider dropping Soul Mastery for Dark Mastery, where Soul Drain recharges twice as fast. However if you're going to do that you might as well have Irradiate. With its fast cast time Irradiate does very good damage and is a big hit to -Defense as well. If you combine Irradiate with Oppressive Gloom and the faster recharging Soul Drain you will have a better melee-ish presence. The stun in Opp Gloom will stack with Cosmic Burst if a boss/lt tries to melee you. Hovering about 10ft off the ground during dangerous fights will still let you use Irradiate, stun minions that try to stand directly below you, and still hit things within about 12-15ft with Irradiate (due to its 20ft radius, 5ft bigger than Fireball and the like).

I agree with the poster above about Stamina.

If you want high defenses I'd go with the Scorpion pool and softcap your smashing/lethal defense. You'll mitigate huge amounts of damage while still having the res and mez prot from Dispersion available for you.

It looks like endurance would be a big problem for this build. Running all your toggles you're burning 1.77end/sec and you have no end redux in your ally shields. I agree with the above posters, Stamina needs more slots. If you're going to 1 slot it, put in a level 50 endmod IO. IMO the Shifter proc is best put in when you've already got ED levels of end enhancement in Stamina.

I'd swap Electron Haze for Irradiate. The KB on EH can knock stuff out of your Disruption Field and Irradiate has really awesome numbers all round. The DoT is also really nice with Scourge. I'd drop Atomic Blast since you don't have a way to regain your endurance quickly after it. You'd also have a fair amount of stuff to retoggle. My personal preference is to skip the crashing nukes unless I have something to refill my end bar fast like Transference, Heat Loss, Power Sink, Dark Consumption, etc.

I agree with Tex about dropping Power Boost. It won't buff your shields so you're getting very little benefit out of it. I don't agree about Sonic Cage though. While it is of fairly limited benefit, its really awesome on those TFs where it comes in handy. With the extra power slots granted with Inherent Fitness and the fact that it works with only a few slots, I'd try to keep it in.

Hope that helps

I didn't find Electron Haze's KB hurting Disruption Field. The chance of KB is pretty low and the KB magnitude isn't enough to knock em out of DF most of the time. I wouldn't skip Electron Haze also because its damage is pretty impressive and you'll have plenty of time to fire it off between Irradiate and Neutron Bomb.

I agree with everything else though. Also, Cardiac Alpha is a must and Dark Mastery works great with Rad/Sonic.

Some personal experiences: My first corr to 50 was a Rad/Sonic, and I really enjoyed it. Brutes love the buffs+debuffs and your damage is really solid. I found my problems were mostly endurance related but aggro can be problematic as well. Disruption Field gives you aggro and alongside Rad's multiple AoE's mobs will be attacking you pretty often if you attack, unless your team has great aggro management tools.

Small note. I don't think D Field aggros the caster. It used to, but I believe now it's flagged non-notify like Mass Hypnosis, so it's aggro-neutral.

Thanks for the info.

Haven't played with my Rad/Sonic in a long while and I missed a few issues.

So I just went and tested it and it turns out I was wrong. I had always thought it didn't aggro the caster, but it would draw aggro to whoever it was on.

Chucked it on a friend on her Stalker while she was stealthed in the middle of a spawn. No aggro at all, for either of us. Huh.

It used to draw aggro, they removed the effect though.

If you are starved for powers I think dropping clarity for Aim is a good idea as it has been suggested already. As for sonic cage, it depends on your play style. It is surprisingly used more often in solo situations because it is single target intangibility, but as it has already been pointed out, it has its uses in team situations as well.
