Is it just me or is Sleet...

I suppose it is only a few, now that I actually sit down and look through powerlists, but it is pretty significant where it does happen.

Indeed. I giggle (and sigh) every time my /Ice defender uses Soul Drain, Ice Storm, and Blizzard.

Why Blasters? Empathy Sucks.
So, you want to be Mental?
What the hell? Let's buff defenders.

Back on topic, though, I still like Mace Mastery. Scorpion Shield is nice (and slightly less ugly than the ice armor, if you ask me) and takes a LotG, PFF is one of those things most of my non-perma doms find very useful for those 'a patrol just stumbled upon me and all of my AOE controls are recharging' moments and a nice LotG mule for my perma-dom, and the spider isn't horrible and takes Expedient Reinforcement for another easy 6.25% Recharge bonus.

Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.

What else should Ice Armor look like? Other than ice?

I think it could be visualized as more of an ice aura, perhaps even with a faint fog that comes off the character and pools around the feet. The one thing I regretted when I gave up Mace for Ice was the subtlety of the Scorpion shield. I love the Ice armor power but dislike how thoroughly it obscures costumes.

Hey, what can I say, I love 'em both? That aside, I use the same avatar for everything regardless of name, so... orz

Returning to the topic at hand, I like Scorp Shield's subtlety, and the Energy resist, but one could argue that Frozen Armor takes a Def+3% IO whereas scorpion shield does not, if you didn't take something like Tough.

As for PFF for LotGs, I can see that, although I often end up picking something like Vengeance or Stealth which also take it. CJ/Maneuvers/Vengeance/Stealth/Frozen Armor would cover it as someone with Ice Mastery. And I love stealth on characters who can take advantage of it for setup.

Of course, as someone who doesn't believe in travel powers, I suppose I have room for all of these things...

Yeah, it's less of a squeeze now that we have inherent Fitness. From a pure mechanical perspective, I probably would take Ice over Mace, but I still stand by the opinion that Mace as a pool seems to get underrated a lot. It's kinda a mediocre choice if you're looking for damage, but that's something my /Fire dom has never been lacking in.

Problem with frozen armor (aside from the visual) is that the resistance component, though it lets you slot the 3%, also means it can't be powerboosted. I was looking into using PB'd frozen armor to help defuse alphas on my ice/ice, but unfortunately You Can't Do That. I really wish you could, it'd eliminate the biggest annoyance I have with that character.

But it's an armor, not aura. We already have an aura like that in /Cold. I'd rather see the armor than the stealthy look. It don't really bother me, but that's my opinion. Especially now that it can be colored.

Although Sleet was not modified between ATs, Freezing Rain was (In fact, Sleet is really just Controller level Freezing Rain). They used to be much more rigorous about adjusting pseudopets than they have been in recent years. Regardless, I think Dom's are very lucky to get it.

The bug is not gaurenteed but in my experience appears to be related to synchronization with the server clock (I suspect a similar issue to the one that affected oil slick arrow). From my testing it appears that the bug only triggers about 60% of the time, so you may just have gotten lucky in your testing. Several months ago I asked Castle about it and was told, that it was a known issue but that they had no way to fix it. If you want to read more about my findings related to the bug you can look at the Freezing Rain section of my guide in the sig. I have still noted the bug in the past week, so it certainly isn't fixed, but it's possible that they have reduced its occurence if your tests continue not to identify the bug.

Fire armor is an armor too, but it's visualized as a close-fitting aura, not slabs of fire that rigidly overlay your costume. I'm talking about my desire for an alternate model; if they ever did this (which I'd bet money they won't) they wouldn't drop the current armor, they'd offer the new look as an option.

I understand but to be honest, i think it's about realism. Fire is flames, not slabs, like ice. Which is easier to make as an aura. I don't think i've ever seen fire clump up in my fireplace like the ice in my freezer. I may be wrong, though.

Like i said, i prefer the realism of the powers over the look of a costume. But that's me. Kinda like Granite Armor. You can't see the costume at all. But if i want to look at my costume, i can do it in WW, CC, or just hanging out. When i'm in missions, i'm not focusing on what my clothes look like.
