Weapon Auras
/Signed to more weapon skins. They drastically need more, especially stuff like Dual pistols.
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

Ever since the release of Shield Customisation I've always wondered how great it would be if we could get weapons with similar effects. Now I don't know what we be easier, adding actual auras to pre-existing models or just making new ones with elemental (or more glowie, whatever) themes, I presume the latter, and I realise that you do get such things in fire, ice melee etc.
I think however it would make it much easier to make a weapon set toon that isn't natural/technology. For example, you could make a character that has a magic sword that actually looks magical since it would be glowing! Even tech/natural origins could benefit, I don't just have a sword, I have a sword wreathed in crackling energy! Obviously I am not suggesting that the weapons gain any new kinds of damage or anything, these ideas are purely cosmetic but I think they would greatly improve the appeal of weapon sets nonetheless. |
LIGHTSABERS!
Although I do agree that weapons customization needs to eventually be further tweaked.

I'm going to go ahead and say it before anyone else does...
LIGHTSABERS! |
I'd love some real weapon auras (and wings too!) In the mean time, you can sort of approximate weapon auras by using fist combat only auras. It's not perfect, but it works. For example, when my BS/SR draws the Rularuu sword, his hand is sheathed in a dark fire from the pommel.
You mean Talsorian weapons?

I can't be bothered to think of something amazingly wise or witty to show how much of a genius I am, just take my word for it.
While we're at it, can we get some energy/fire wings? But I do wholeheartedly agree with the OP; a sword cackling with electricity would be pretty badass.

I would love to have electricity cracklin JUST from my War Mace (ala Thor)
I already use the body Electricity aura but JUST on the hammer would be cool.
Plus on a Katana Scrapper I have I got the Vanguard Katana Sword that glows and it just might be the coolest weapon I have ever used on the game because it LOOKS similar to a Lightsaber (shhhhh)
I just wish we could change the hilt color on it

More options are always better !!!
The hard things I can do--- The impossible just take a little bit longer.
If numbers are so much more important than a teammate who is fun to play with, forget about the game altogether and go play with a calculator instead. -Claws and Effect-
I'm going to turn your request around and suggest the opposite: Aura Weapons! I've wanted these for a long time now - weapons which don't have an actual physical form (which is to say, 3D model) but are instead constructed entirely out of highly opaque sprite arrays. You know the kind of red phantom weapon you get when you use Build Up with Axe, Sword or Mace? Like that, only denser and more permanent. This is completely and entirely doable in the current game system.
As far as adding auras to weapons goes, BABs used to explain why this can't happen. He used to say that we could only use one weapon, so it either had an aura or it didn't, and we'd need multiples of ever weapon to achieve this. Shield Defence brings in compound weapon customization, where effects can be added to each weapon, and those effects can be unique to the weapon. For shields, this is usually emblems or spikes or doodads, but we've seen no reason why those can't be an aura. This would, however, require weapon customization to be altered in a big way, which I'm not sure is possible.
As far as elemental weapons goes, I'd like to see those, myself, even if they don't deal elemental damage. After all, my Fire Shield doesn't protect me from fire or cold any more than my manhole cover does, so why should my fire sword deal more fire damage than, say, my rusty piece of angle iron? I'd like to see at least a fire/ice/rock/dark version of at least Broadsword, Dual Blades, Katana, Battle Axe, War Mace, Claws and Archery. Stone bow FTW!
Samuel_Tow is the only poster that makes me want to punch him in the head more often when I'm agreeing with him than when I'm disagreeing with him.
