Which has better damage?

Hello.

I am curious about Mu Mastery. I wanted to know if it was more damaging than Soul mastery? So far I have been a fan of Gloom and Dark Obliteration, but I wouldn't mind switching it up from time to time.

In terms of activation and base damage, Soul is the best because Gloom has higher base damage than Mu Lightning and Dark Obliteration's damage is all up front while Ball of Lightning is partially DoT.

Are you Fortunata or Crab? Gloom is a great way to increase your range dps.

What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.

Mu wins by a wide margin for AoE damage as it has Ball Lightning and Static Discharge.

Soul has Gloom, which offers some of the best single target DPA.

I'd consider Soul the better pool overall - gloom is a very superior single target blast (it's one of the best attacks available to brutes or SOAs, period), while dark obliteration is not that far behind ball lightning for AOE damage, though it is somewhat behind.

Static discharge in the epic pool doesn't seem to have high enough stats to be that attractive. And darkest night has a lot to recommend it, especially if you are playing a ranged/support oriented type SOA or 'blastermind' crab.

But SoA already has many aoe available... I don't see why you would need more than one aoe from patron.

And if you really did want another AoE, you would really only need one extra, and Ball Lightning is superior to Static Discharge.

I'm a little confused as to why you would want another AoE as well.

Provided you've built for perma-ML, or your build is similar to the one in the second post in your thread (i didn't pull yours up due to lack of data-link) - Dart burst is on like a 2s cooldown, and spin is like 3.

You'll always have an AoE available to you. Sure the radius on spin is a touch small, but the cone on dart burst is decent.

If I were dead set on getting some patron powers, I'd probably look at utility over damage. A hold, an AoE immob, whatever floats your boat. You're not going to beat your AT's powers for AoE damage.

Darkest Night, Electrifying Fences, Web Env (reccomend against this one) - School of Sharks + Acid Breath, follow it up with a dart burst, can be a nasty combo.

If you can stomach the redraw, Shatter Armor is worth it's weight in gold on AV's, EB's, etc..

These are interesting replies. Please keep the thoughts coming.

Thank you.
The dark powers would go along with the widow concept better :P
