BS/Inv - i19 re-spec

Trying to get my very first Scrapper up to date with the fitness changes before tomorrow. Been awhile since I last messed with his build.
Would love to see the regen and e/n/f/c defense on this raise up some more. Using Parry to double stack my melee defense to 55 for a little wiggle room against debuffs. Trying not to put too much influence on the build so I stayed away from perma DP and instead grabbed some +HP. I am pretty set on the powers I've selected but could be convinced other wise with good reasoning.

Accuracy against +4 is OK for the most part.
Picked up aidself for added survivability.
Using Parry-Hack-HS-Parry-Hack-Dis chain. Should be gapless after I pick up the recharge/Health alpha.
Would love to see Whirling Sword with another slot to get damage to ED

Not looking to put any Purple or PvP IOs in the build, so please stay away from those...

Ahhh, BS/inv.

I got one of those to 30-ish waaaaay back in the I2-I3 timespan, when Jack Emmert (spit) was doing such things as making Unyielding root you in place as long as it was activated.

Ah, the glory days of the tele-scrapper.

After I got over the two years of rage at that stupidity, I found that poor little toon, still with five-damage SO's in all powers.

It was a mercy-deleting. It really was.

That said, I find bs/inv an interesting 'maximum survivable' option these days, with inherent Stamina and physical perfection +alpha finally able to feed the beast.

Invuln is turning into a reasonably early bloomer.

That said, I'm unlikely to ever roll one, because bs/sd has...SO much more damage. And it gets that damage for very very little loss in durability.

It'd be an interesting toon, that's for sure.

I'll have a look at it later today when I come home.

Meanwhile you could have a look at my I19 Kat/Inv thread if you already haven't. The builds have some purples and the PvP 3% Def IO, but they might still give you slotting ideas.

Are you building this with the alpha slot in mind, by the way? If you are, you only need about 45% global rech, 95% slotted in DP, 95% in Hasten and the uncommon recharge boost to have perma DP.

While set bonuses are a nice thing, there is such thing as too much of a good thing. For instance, Headsplitter doesn't really need all of that. My build has it slotted with just three HOs (don't know if you're against those or not) and three recharges. That offers better accuracy and recharge than what you have currently, and you're only losing minimal set bonuses there from dropping that set.

Here's my build, I use Slash where you use Slice, also I have Hasten and Unstoppable. And I took LBE as well from the APP. I tank occasionally with my scrapper, so LBE is nice to have for a pull.

I suggest reducing the three slots in CJ to one (leave the Kismet in there), and use those two slots in Whirling Sword instead. WS is a great attack, should be six slotted. Also, I have Parry 4 slotted (no need to slot for acc if you've got some global acc). Defense wise, the build is good, however you achieved so at a detriment to potential damage.

Well did the respec last night. Didn't know I had 3 of them just waiting to be used. Probably due to how old the character is. And now I still have 3 to mess around with

Nothing against Shields ....... I just don't like it

Yeah been trying to mess around with hasten on the build. Since I want to try aidself on him, the only other option is to drop Maneuvers and doing so would then kill off my defense. I don't think I can take anything less than 40 defense on e/n/f/c and 25HP/sec. Would love to hit 40+ HP/sec with DP up, but that's probably a bit too much. Was looking at your Kat/Inv build... yeah don't think gonna put any more influence on this. The only reason he's getting some IOs is because he is my very first character

HOs are fine. I got a few saved up, but I don't think I would go with that slotting. No endurance reduction, and losing out on 3.125% e/n defense and 1.8 end from erads. The chain really don't require that much recharge on HS either.

I prefer Slice better. Hits more guys. Unstoppable I could live without and LBE is just a big no for me.

hmmm. Could pull out the defense LoTG from CJ and leave off the Kismet and the +recharge while still keeping my defense 40+. Could use that slot for WR. I could then replace the Multi Strike on HS with an acc/dam Scirocco's Dervish to get the 10% regen back.

Thanks for the help guys!!!

I wouldn't value F/C damage nearly as much as you do. It's rare, and I'd say more than half of it comes with either a Smash or Lethal component so S/L Def covers most of it. When all else fails, soft capped Melee Def should save you, because I'd think a large majority of the incoming F/C damage is Melee.

I went for 43%'ish S/L/E/NE Def with enough Melee Def to soft cap with one application of DA. Works very well. I wouldn't pick Aid Self either, especially with a Regen as high as in your build. Then again, if you don't like using insps, it might be a good choice.

Can you post your final build long-form for those of us on Macs who can't look at it in mids?

"Hmm, I guess I'm not as omniscient as I thought" -Gavin Runeblade.
I can be found, outside of paragon city here.
Thank you everyone at Paragon and on Virtue. When the lights go out in November, you'll find me on Razor Bunny.

I don't know jack about builds, but I thought I'd pop in with two things: I've been using this build and I'm loving it, it's actually really fantastic for leveling. Two: The build is named Guin, and now I know exactly why you wouldn't use /Shield Defense. Excellent choice of powersets for this homage.

Posted

Not sure how it is at leveling though as it was made with level 50 in mind. Glad to see someone is enjoying it as much as I have though.

I wanted to pop in, though too late to contribute prior to respeccing, and let you know I toyed around with your build but couldn't find any way to improve it. Awesome build Iggy, as usual.
