Truncated Event reward lists

I've been playing through the new Praetorian events and run into a problem. Whenever I complete the 'Great Escape' or 'The Protest' events my reward list is always missing the Badge choice, among other things.

I don't know what to do about this, I've beaten down the Failed Experiments three times by now with no different results. Anyone else having this problem?

Statesman said let there be heroes, and there were heroes.

Lord Recluse said let there be villains, and there were villains.

NCsoft said let there be nothing, and there was nothing.

I too have recently encountered the same issue. Sent in a petition and Support replied with Masterminds will need to not use their minions during Praetorian zone events to gain maximum credit for participation.

Which was pointless, I had two masterminds in the event, one of which got both badge and emote. The one that got those options (twice, since we ran the event multiple times) pretty much did nothing but send in his pets and stand there with Leadership running.

The other mastermind that did NOT get those options (in fact, the only options he got were Dual Origin Enhancement, Information Bonus, and Medium or Large Inspiration) was in there using Darkest Night, Twilight Grasp, Tar Patch, Fearsome Stare, Petrifying Gaze, Soul Storm, and Oppressive Gloom. All in addition to his Robots and Dark Servant.

I do not take the offensive abilities on my MM's, preferring to rely on my pets for damage and selecting instead the buffing/debuffing abilities to maximize the effectiveness of both the pets and the team in general.

To make a Zone Event that negates the use of a Primary Power Set is ridiculous, and clearly the use of the Secondary Power Set was equally ineffective...

I also was on the same team as Digital Synapse. Unlike him I DO take the offensive abilities and was doing damage as well as my "Minions". I actually got 4 choices upon completion each time....none were the emote or badge.

I agree with DS, this is my PRIMARY power pool. To say to me that I will have to do this event without my PRIMARY powers makes me dead weight on the team.

I have had a CoH account since day of release two hours after servers first went live. And as a long time subscriber I find this to be unacceptable. Wow, great customer service.

Masterminds never really interested me as much as other classes did so surprising to many this was my first MM and now to see this? I wonder how many other things I will have to "Gimp" this character in order to get the reward? Which will mean, I probably won't play my MM after all this hard work and 20 levels. When I play on a team, I play. I don't go in as dead weight.

Count me unhappy both with what happened and the really horrible CS response to it.

My praetorian stalker played in both of those events last Wednesday, each time with masterminds in the team.

In the protest event the area is so small that I was unable to attack much of anything. Usually the pets had killed everything before I could even target them although frankly I didn't try very hard since the area was so crowded and it seemed like I was always on the wrong side of the parking lot when things spawned. I got the truncated list and the mastermind got the whole list as did a brute in the group, I'm not sure what the blaster got as he exited right after the event and didn't comment on it.

In the great escape event we had two masterminds. Having learned my lesson I intercepted groups of ghouls before they got to the team and fought them on my own. Once in the sewers I tried to stay well ahead of everyone and did what I could to fight as many as possible. The MM from the first event mostly held her demons in bodyguard mode (feeling guilty for me not getting a full reward list in the first event I think) and used her personal attacks and kept everyone bubbled. The new MM sent hers in to fight and did nothing else as far as I could tell. Everyone on the team except the new MM got the extended list.

That's just my experience but it does seem to bear out Support's reply quoted above. I think it stinks that a MM's primary power set doesn't count for some reason but it is what it is... at least for now.

Further response from Support (and I use that term loosely...) telling me that Mastermind characters will need to participate using powers other than pets in order to gain the rewards in Praetorian zone events. This is the way Development Team intended it to work and that it might be especially difficult for these characters to participate at a level necessary for a badge.

I was then recommended to take the issue to the forums.

Pretty much telling me, "Stop bothering us, it works the way it works, go whine on the forums."

This really ticks me off, I WAS using other abilities, the entire Dark Secondary and Soul Mastery... but no, apparently those don't count and if I want to participate in these zone events I have to rebuild my characters in order to meet the developers' idea of a Mastermind build? Seriously? Do you tell Tanks they can't Taunt or use their Toggles? Scrappers to not use their Claws/Broadswords/Katanas/etc.?

If I had a Mastermind on my team for ANYTHING that didn't have their minions out, they'd get booted...

Not much help there to be honest. According to some in the thread, specifically someone with similar power sets (Bots/Dark) they were able to get the badge/emote choices by doing exactly what I was doing... Healing and Debuffing with Secondary and Mastery sets. Odd thing was, my OTHER mastermind who GOT the badge and emote was doing pretty much nothing but standing there while his pets went nuts and had Leadership running... something is definitely off there...

Based on my very limited testing, my best guess is that which reward table you get is non-deterministic.

Test run 1: Syndicate takedown.

To establish a baseline, I soloed a Syndicate takedown on my level 50 bots/traps mastermind using no powers other than Summon Battle Drones (twice), Summon Protector Bots (once), Summon Assault Bot (once), Upgrade Robot (once) and Equip Robot (once). I ran no toggles, activated no other powers, and never targeted an enemy. I issued no commands to my bots, leaving them in "defensive follow" the entire time and using the natural aggression of Syndicate members to direct their attacks.

I got the full rewards table.

Test run 2: Syndicate takedown.

I soloed this as if I were doing a mission at x8: all toggles active, lavish use of traps, taunting whenever it was active, and so on. I used every power except Teleport at least once (including a totally gratuitous use of Repair, just so I could say I used it). Rather a waste of powers, as half the time whatever I was toe-bombing would be defeated before I could get the trap down, and I don't think there was ever a cluster of targets big enough for Electrifying Fences to hit more than two opponents. The event went a little bit faster than before, but not much.

I got the full rewards table.

Test run 3: Syndicate takedown.

I soloed this using a single un-upgraded Protector Bot (to put me at the softcap), plus extensive use of my personal attack and secondary powers (for future reference, Trip Mine is a lousy single-target attack). I had most of my toggles running. This took about twice as long as previous runs.

I got the full rewards table.

Er... yeah, that is kind of off, isn't it?

I'd suggest contacting Black Scorpion via PM. I think it's time to go over supports (rather short) head...
