Elec/wp or elec/inv 4 a brute or tanker, which combo is best?

Good morning,

I am considering construction of my first Tanker or Brute with the combination of Electric and Willpower or Electric and Invulnerability. However, I would like to know which is better or is recommended - Willpower or Invulnerability? And based upon the choice between those two, is it better to have it as a Primary or Secondary with Electric Melee? Obviously, I will have to choose Tanker or Brute for the eventual combination.

Please provide feedback...

WP vs Invuln is pretty much a flayed-to-the-bone horse. They're pretty much even sets, pick whichever seems more fun. Personally I like Invuln better because of the shiny graphics.

As for tank vs. brute, it's a question of defensiveness and offensiveness. Which one do you want more?

Brute tends to be the wiser choice.

You start with less defensive capabilities than a Tanker, but you have the potential to match their top survivability through buffs in a support-saturated team.

Brutes are also much more meaner killing machines than Tankers, being more on par with Scrappers on the offensive side, so as a Brute you have the potential of getting the best of both worlds.

Go Invuln/Electric as a Tanker. It is easier to soft cap on a Tanker because you have a 1.0 AT modifier for defense, and Invulnerability is actually superior to WP when it is soft capped to SM/L/En/Neg/Fire/Cold with one foe in Invincibility's radius. Invuln is just a beast of a set on Tanks.

Go Electric/WP as a Brute. WP has access to Quick Recovery, and the Furey mechanic requires that you pretty much never stop punching and play the character like a whirling dervish.

As for which AT you should pick, it's pretty much damage vs survivability. The tank is probably slightly better on teams because of Bruising (force multiplication) and the -75% range on Taunt for all 5 targets (Brutes only apply this debuff to 1 target). However, if a team needs both damage and Tanking, nothing can touch the Brute, which can do it all.

Better for doing...what?

I've got a 50 elec/wp/mu brute and I'll second Julius's dervish comment. Even with just SO's I've got both an ST and AOE chain. and depending on whats needed they just keep going and going. And its done a decent tank job as well when needed. Throwing Taunt into the AOE or ST chain's means I can hold aggro with the best of them as needed.
