So what are your plans for the Alpha-Slot?

I think the whole concept of the slot is going to be great once its here. I been thinking about alot of possible builds now that I didnt want to bother with leveling as they didnt seem to pay off even at 50. Although for my main I am not too sure as to what I want to do. Maybe do the one with resistance or maybe defense. What worries me is with my alts that are softcapped how would I go about calculating for defense. Will the defense enhancement alpha be enough to drop weave from a build? Does anyone know if you were to ED cap all the SR powers excluding elude just how much extra defense would the alpha slot give you if you werent softcapped via IOs or other powers?

Succubus Kali was made to be practically indestructible without sacrificing too much in terms of damage, so the Spiritual Radial boost is perfect for her for a few reasons:

  1. Brings up Dull Pain and Siphon Life faster.
  2. Dull Pain and Siphon Life will Heal better. (Live vs. Beta is 196 vs. 240*)
  3. Fully saturates all of my attacks' Recharge and then some.
  4. Ups my DPS from a closer-to-perma-Soul Drain.
That Alpha boost is perfect for her! It boosts both of the aspects of what I wanted to do for her quite well, and this was only from the Uncommon boost!

I don't even know yet. I've got some ideas for a few of my toons, but without being able to see all the numbers in front of me in Mid's I'm not willing to commit.

All the info on what the alpha slot does is here:

It may not mention rare and very rare enhancements won't be available until I20, but you can still plan for I19 just by looking at that page.

I finally had the time to crunch some numbers on this. For some builds I will just soft cap them as before but use the extra little bit of defense the slot gives for protection against cascade failure. The defense the slot gives as isnt enough to drop powers or move enough slots around. If ED capped its only going to give less than 7% increase if using uncommon boosts. At best its going to make it slightly cheaper where I wont need as many HOs to slot. Now once very rare gets into the picture things will get really nice.

Probably going to use inherent Fitness to pick up maneuvers/assault/tactics, and so I'll get the endurance Alpha slot.

I figure that even with the very rare enhancement, I'm going to get 9% more def or res at most...

For def that's probably a max of 3-4 or so on SR. With the current state of def IOs, it just makes more sense to use IOs to get protection.

So: for my scrappers and brutes I'd go either damage or recharge. In most cases damage, but I'll need to think a fair bit about my ele/shield and dm/shiled, since their significant existing +damage and recharge sensitive damage potential soul drain for DM, zorchmaser 2000 for ele may render +damage relatively less valuable than it would be on other builds. My gut feel is that even for them, + damage will be the way to go.

Where I do see the +res being useful is on a resistance tank.

+res is just really tough to get from IOs, and for a fire, electric or dark tank with tough, I can see it being well worth thinking about. I'll probably take res on my electric/fire tank.

My fire/fire scrapper has no real deficiencies, so I intend to go with musculature. More damage, please!
