Assault Rifle/Traps

I have set up the built as per various suggestions and the first build posted here. The build is amazing - even though I cannot change my costume due to a glitch with Mace Mastery from what I am told. Never-the-less the build works wonders, and I will be keeping it.

However, I am now looking for a second build. Same character Assault Rifle/Traps, but I have taken an interest in Soul Mastery, and wonder if there are any builds out there which use it. If there is - please post them here. I am well aware that some people will say soul mastery is useless for this character, but I would still like to find and use a second build that includes it.

I suppose it was not such a bad idea to leave this thread up - as I can ask this question here now. Thank you in advance for the assistance.

There are a few builds posted in this thread that you can probably use as a starting point:
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=211713

My advice is to make something up in mids' and then post it here so we can see what you're going for and offer advice based on your preferences and build budget.

Generally with Traps/AR you want to aim for Recharge and Defense. Positional Defense is slightly easier to build up through set bonuses given the powers available to you but if you go for Typed Defense you can take Mace Mastery which will take care of a large chunk of S/L defense allowing you to softcap that easily and focus set bonuses on the other typed defenses.

I will take a look at those, thank you. The question will remain open for anyone else who has an idea. Any help is appreciated.

Here's my build I'm planning on (only level 22 at the moment). Softcapped to Smash, Lethal, and Energy. I have no idea how the endurance will be, or if there will be any issues at all. No HO enhancements, purple or PvP recipes here, although you could swap out some if you wanted.

Leviathan Mastery and Mace Mastery are Patron Power Pools, the villain version of Ancillary Power Pools (new Power Pools selectable at level 41). Villain side ones require you to talk to Arbiter Rein (just outside the main building in Grandville), who will tell you to look at the four statues inside. After doing so, talk to him again and he'll introduce you to one of the four Patrons of Lord Recluse (Ghost Widow, Scirocco, Black Scorpion and Captain Mako). Complete their first storyarc, and it will unlock all four Patron Power Pools for you to use (previously, you would be locked to the Patron you chose, but not anymore), along with a free "Patron Respec" (which stacks with earned respecs from Respec Trials).

Lastly, I do not know how to upload these links from Mids.
Actually there are both Defender and Corruptor builds there but in any case that's why I suggested using them as a starting point and not a final build. Everyone has their own opinions as to what should be in a build and their own budget so I find it's batter to make your own than try and use someone else's. There isn't really a perfect build so select the powers you want and then see what you can do with it. From a practical point of view there isn't a lot of difference between a Corruptor Build and a Defender build, you just need to reorder the powers and plan on building in a bit more defense from set bonuses for the Corruptor. To upload a build from mids go to the Import/Export menu and select the forum export function, this copies it to your clipboard and you can paste it into the post.

Are you redside?

Run a patron arc and they'll open up.

You can always run tips and switch over, then switch back. Doesn't take that long.

...which is five weeks fewer than the interval between your "last" post (12/6/2010), and your "thread rez" post (1/21/2011). It really ain't that long.

I do not have access to immediate travel powers just yet. So I would ask that any builds posted either avoid or work around them in some way, shape or form. I have acquired the patron power pools, and can use them for any future builds from what I am told. The limitations on possible builds are slowly disappearing. This is a very good thing.

I'm glad you found a build you like regarding deleting the thread, the short answer is you can't, only the mods can. In general though I'd have to ask why? It's not doing any harm sitting here and since it has several builds posted in it it is a potential resource for someone who comes along with a similar question in the future.

Hey quick question. I am trying to make a bots/traps build in Mids and when attempting to slot acid mortar, the only ios in there are ranged(aoe) not ranged(st) which is where devastation falls. This has not happened before so I was wondering if anyone knew how to fix it.

Posted

There's a discrepency between the two versions of acid mortar. The MM version accepts PBAoE sets and the Corr/Def version accepts Ranged Damage sets. This is mostly due to the devs almost completely ignoring MMs for years. There's really no other explanation that I know of. Someone could probably make a massive list that chronicles all of the bugs, glitches, issues and exploits pertaining the MM AT...

Oh wait, I did that!
