Hi,
Can anyone tell me what the max flight speed? I've have my toon up to 58.63mph
but I have my run speed at 65.23mph(with ninja run & sprint)
Flying is soooo slow. is there anyway to improve the speed?
thanks in advance

You're right at about the Flight speed cap. Flight is slower than the running speed cap because it allows for full 3D movement, whereas Ninja Run and Sprint won't let you go everywhere without finding ways around high walls and buildings.

As Aett_Thorn implied Fly is slower than the other Travel Powers for a game balancing reason.

If Fly was as fast or even faster than things like Super Speed or Super Jump why would anyone ever choose to use those powers? Fly has been made slower so that it's a compromise between full 3D movement versus faster forms of travel.

According to Paragonwiki flight is hard capped at 58.63 MPH, which sounds about right IIRC.

If you're looking at your flight speed via the Combat Attributes window, I believe the blue color on the value indicates that you've hit the cap for that attribute.

Teams are the number one killer of soloists.

Yes, blue numbers in the combat attribute window means you are at the cap for that attribute, for that level. Most attributes have a lower cap until 20, and others scale based purely on level (Speed caps are one of these).

You're at the cap. Flight speed caps lower than other travel powers because it's also the safest and easiest travel power to use. Unlike running, you can make a straight line to your goal in most zones. Unlike Superjump, you almost never hit the ground and never run into any obstacles too tall to go over. And, unlike Teleport, it's "fire and forget" ( No need to "click click click click" to get to your goal ) not to mention far less end intensive. Some disagree with me on this, but if the flight cap were higher, there'd be no reason outside of concept builds to take any travel power other than fly.

Just increase the movement speeds of all of the travel powers.

The problem with that is that Super speed is already as fast as the engine can keep up with. Make it go faster and you run into problems like entering areas the game hasn't drawn yet, so you bounce off invisible walls or get stuck in them. I'm pretty sure a Dev has posted something to that effect before, but darned if I know who or when.

That would pretty much leave us where we are now with Flight. The complaint is flight is slower than the other travel powers, and that would remain the same.

I still don't like it. Raising the speed without raising the cap seems kind of dumb. All it means is that now I can leave the fly slot empty and still be at the cap. It is especially dumb compared to ninja run.

I still use fly because it is one of my favorite things to do in the game but it is always on my mind that ninja run with hurdle/swift (both after issue 19) + sprint would actually be faster and not much more dangerous in 95% of the zones in the game.

Yes, it's so easy to get around Grandville with that. ><

I'd say "95% of the zones" is being unrealistically generous there...
