How will you Alpha Slot?

With Alpha Slot info posted, and i19 around the corner, I was wondering how the defender community will Alpha Slot their different builds.

My main is a Rad/Rad/Power. Thinking I may go Musculature for the extra damage and tohit debuffs. Spiritual is tempting for the extra rech, but with an already perma-AM build I don't know how much use I'll get out of it.

Musculature Radial Paragon on my Rad/Sonic because:

Damage is good.

Radiation Infection uses both defence and tohit debuffs.

Accelerate Metabolism uses End mod and run speed.

My travel power consists of Sprint + Ninja Run so more speed is nice.

Better stamina will help with all my toggles.

Going for the 45% damage boost on my storm/sonic. My endurance is fine, my accuracy is okay since I have ridiculous defense debuffs, recharge would be kind of useful, but since it's a pvp character the damage will end up being more useful. Getting a defense debuff boost along with it makes it the obvious choice.

Ones I know off-hand:

Stormy Darkness -> Storm/Dark Defender: Spiritual Core Paragon. Dark Pit Stuns, Life Drain/O2 Heals, and increased recharge on all my long recharge storms.

Eldritch Green -> Dark/Elec Defender: Muscular Radial Paragon. Umm... Endurance Mod increases for sapping, to-hit debuffs from Dark Miasma increase, and more damage which is what makes him a pain to solo (even though he has 2-3 pets as a defender >.>)

Herald of Victory -> Archery/Sonic Corruptor: Cardiac Radial Paragon. Better Endurance maintance, more resistance, and gives good reason to use his cage power, or at least take it.

50s: Bla- Arch/Mental Cont- Mind/FF, Earth/Cold, Ill/Therm, Earth/Rad Dominator- Plant/Psi, Elec/Earth Corr- Fire/Storm, Arch/Sonic, Rad/Kin, Beam/Sonic, Psi/Time Stalker- Elec/SR Def- Storm/Dark, Emp/Psi, Dark/Elec, FF/Arch, TA/Ice, TA/Elec, Kin/AR, Cold/DP, Traps/Psi Scrap- Fire/Shield Tanker- Dark/Mace, Ice/Kin Brute- Claws/WP, SS/Energy, BS/Elec

Leaning towards Spiritual on my Traps/AR. I've got a nice chunk of global recharge already but more can't hurt. I'll probably also get a musculature for those time when I don't need the extra recharge.

Since we'll be able to re-choose which Alpha we want every five minutes, I won't be picking a definite route for any toon. I'll be concentrating on the Cardiac ones first, though. With Fitness becoming inherent, and three more powers potentially needing slots, I'm going to be running Stamina with just it's basic slot for a while. The Cardiac ones should cover me for endurance issues.

After that, I plan on testing the waters with the other three commons, and if my endurance holds up okay, maybe I'll make those my main choices.

Expect for my Stormie. Who'll probably keep the old fitness for now, and just stick with the Cardiac. She's soft-capped for ranged/AoE, throws out plenty of damage, and has pretty decent recharge to begin with. Only problem is that she chews through endurance like it's going out of fashion. Like neon Lycra cycle shorts in the 80's.

My Forcefielder is going for the Nerve Radial fir the Defense Boost. Now she's can near softcap the entire team's defense, with the Alpha, she'll overshoot it.

My Trick Archer is... whoa. Read the Musculature Radial Paragon, then compare to Trick Arrows. She's going to go as far in the Musculature tree as she can before I20 for that one. Trick Archers made out like bandits on that particular ability.

For my FF/EB Defender I'll be making one of each Cardiac, Musculature, and Nerve types. I'll start with the Cardiac because I get an immediate benefit to my endurance consumption rate. Then I'll add the other 2 as I earn the necessary shards. The plan is to swap out the Alpha for the one I need at the time.

Empathy/Electric --- Recharge/Healing (of course)

Forcefield/Energy --- is not level 50 yet, but certainly leaning towards Endurance

All my other characters are kind of on hold till I decide who gets to actually BE my Incarnate character. I cannot imagine "grinding" , errr.... I mean spending that much effort on multiple characters considering how much time I play each week.

BIOSPARK :: DARKTHORN :: SKYGUARD :: WILDMAGE

Of the ones I know ... and with builds planned already (vs planned with Incarnate boost in mind to start):

Rianna-Emp/Sonic/Elec-Spiritual Radial boost (Heal/Rech)
Reyna-Emp/Rad/Dark-Cardiac Radial boost (Endred/Dam Resist)
Grissom-Cold/Ice/Power-Musculature Radial boost (Damage/Defdebuff)
GRETA-001-Claws/SR/Body-Nerve Radial boost (Acc/Defense)
Serene Wisp-Earth/Storm/Stone-Cardiac Core boost (Endred/Range)

Sonic/Sonic--End/Res. Eventually End/Res/Range.

Kin/Rad--Dam/Debuff

Kin/Elec--I have no idea; any of them could help.

Yup, going Cardiac Core takes my Son/Son's shields from around 55% to 64% (if they're under the big bubble as well). Plus he'll be dying of end issues after I pick up some more toggles for I19, so the Alpha slot is perfect timing.

For my Cold/Dark, I'm tempted to go Nerve, likely Core, though the +Acc is kinda meaningless w/all the global +Acc bonuses and Tactics he runs. The +Def, after ED caps, isn't as big (23.6% -> 25%), but Arctic Fog & Maneuvers will also pick up a few decimal points of +Def, all of which adds up. FF gets much bigger boosts from Nerve, but they almost don't need it. Then again, going Spiritual Core let's me cast Sleet, Heat Loss, Benumb, etc that much faster, plus I can actually use the +Stun since I use Oppressive Gloom & Dark.

No idea what I'm going to do w/my Dark/Ice yet. Likely Spiritual Core for the +Recharge & +Heal. He's got a bit to go before 50 anyway.

The thing is... What to make with the other stuff you already have?
My Rad/Rad is at this time slotted for Perma AM/Hasten, with the whole build pretty much made around recharge. This cost me some Damage and Some resistance, I admit, but since he is a support toon it is fine. In groups I´m a God (All Hail THE Rad!). The thing is that when I´m alone I suck...
Now, with Alpha slot, what should I do? Go for Spiritual, wich (depending of the one I choose) gives me Recharge, Healing, Stun and Slow... And that way opens up space to change the whole build again to slot for other purposes. Or stay with Musculature that ups my Damage and also can give Defense Debuff, Endurance Modification, ToHit Debuff and Run Speed... And leave most of the damn build as it is to simplify stuff?
I´m kind of confused, not sure what would be better for my toon, so I´ll have to wait and see...

Haven't decided yet. My TA/Dark/Dark is already at perma-Hasten, and I haven't respeced to take advantage of inherent Fitness yet... endurance management is still a bit rough, have to rely on inspirations in extended combat, so Cardiac would be a relatively good way to go.

Musculature would improve nearly every power I have, giving me more damage mitigation, more damage output, some improvement in Recovery to offset the endurance issue and even a bit more Run speed (which is always nice since i don't have a travel power)...

But Spiritual means even faster recharge times on the cones, more -Speed for Glue and OSA, longer duration on Dark Pit and OG and more Jump speed... and if there's one thing I can never have enough of, it's +Jump.

Eh. None of the bonuses will be available below 45. I think I'll just keep my current build the way it is for the time being, make all three and test them to see which I like best. Not like I'm losing anything, and nothing else to do with shards or components right now.

I went for Cardiac on my sonic/sonic and once I slotted in the second tier pretty much all endurance problems just went away. Most of the time I had six toggles running while constantly blasting and my endurance rarely went below 50%.(Two Leadership, Combat Jumping, Sonic Dispersion, Sonic Disruption, and the epic Temp Invulnerability) On those rare occasions where it did I would just hit conserve power and it would slide back up.

The secondary resistance 20% global boost didn't add a great deal to my total buffing ability. I went from a combined total of around 54-55% to 57-58%. Still nice to have and when higher level cardiac enhancements are out that will improve. On the other hand I am now solidly at the defender cap for smashing/lethal resists and around 24-25% for everything else except psionic.

Great googly eyes, I can't believe how much of a difference the basic Cardiac enhancement has made. I knew my clicks were the problem (only three toggles, Maneuvers, CJ and OG), but I didn't have any idea just how drastically this boost would change things.

My SOP is to run at +0/x5 or +0/x6. If I used OSA and Disruption on a +1 spawn, I would typically be below 25% endurance by the time I finished, which forced me to wait up to 30s before engaging the next spawn. A +0 spawn, using the same powers, would leave me with less than 50% endurance. Bosses and EBs typically meant I had to keep blues handy. I have plenty of +Recovery, just under 170%, but it wasn't keeping me going at the pace I prefer.

I'm rarely seeing my endurance bar drop below 75% now, and that's after I tested with Sprint (which has a Stealth IO slotted) running during combat.

O_O <-- my eyes!

Not even going to bother trying to test the other enhancements, just going to save up shards to upgrade to the second tier Cardiac and salivate over the third and fourth tiers until I can get my hands on them. Mmm, level shift... *drool*

Radiation emission/Electrical blast: Spiritual, want to hit perma-AM without turning my main into a Hasten-*****. The option would be Cardiac since he's always running dry on endurance through triple-slotted Stamina and all non-PvP uniques.

Dark miasma/Sonic blast: No idea yet, I'll have to see what holes to fill once I finish the build. Probably something like Musculature.

Storm summoning/Ice blast: Cardiac, hands down. It's built for +damage bonus, and while it's fun to run at permanent +49.5% damage on a stormie the end bar hurts.

Trick arrow/Archery: Musculature, mostly because I built this guy for having extra range in everything.

Cold domination/Radiation blast: Spiritual to heat loss and nuke more often!

Sonic resonance/Psychic blast: Cardiac, always running low on endurance.

Kinetics/Dual pistols: Nerve, probably, since it's a duo character running with a traps with both of us running near soft-cap/damage-cap most of the time. Cranking a little extra out of the defence stuff will help me hit soft-cap.

Force fields/Energy blast: Musculature, just want to get some more mileage out of the blasts.

Empathy/Dark blast: Spiritual to reduce downtimes on auras.

This is me. I'm not concerned with which ones I'll make, just the order in which I'll make them.

Opted to craft the Spiritual Boost first for my Rad/Rad because after an ITF an Kahn TF I had more than enough shards/components for it. Also because until I finish the last two purple sets I need my new build is a few seconds short of perma-AM/Hasten. I like it so far, especially on teams.

Working on the Musculature Boost now. More damage ontop of AM + Assault + Vigilance looks like fun.
